Cute place in a little shopping area on the corner of Twin Peaks and Espola Road, with a few booths for eating in and a nice clean, functional kitchen area with big ovens. Looks good! I live near here, and am glad to see a place like this in the neighborhood. The pizza we ordered was OK, not outstanding: Good crust, nice toppings, a lot of quantity for the money. I didn’t like the texture of the Mozzarella cheese they use — too creamy. Otherwise, this is a place I would like to support: I will try some of their sandwiches and salads in the future — will add to or maybe change my rating after that.

Been coming here since the 90’s and it has remained consistent! Can’t go wrong with a quick bite to eat from here.

I am 28 years old and have had their pizza for as long as I can remember. It’s really nothing special just really good. Love the crust and sauce also I always get a couple sides of their Greek dressing to dip my pizza in if you are a pizza and ranch person you really need to try it. I actually prefer this place over Bronx pizza which has had lots of acknowledgement for some reason.

We finished our hike at Mt. Woodson and my son(10) wanted pizza so we stopped in here. The employees welcomed us right away and answered my son’s questions. He ordered a slice of pepperoni and a drink. The slice of pizza was HUGE. They warmed it in the oven and it came out piping hot. I tried a bite and it was delicious. My son had ordered a medium drink and they gave him a large. He felt badly and went back in to pay for the difference and they said they gave him a meal deal. Nice guys. Great pizza. They also have GINORMOUS pizzas for parties. If we lived in Poway, we would probably use them. They have a couple tables in the restaurant, but we took it to go.

Stopped in for some Post-Saturday Night Lights grub after my nephew«Diesel’s» flag football game. Great decision! My crew of 4 were starving and somehow we ordered the Giant pizza(serves up to 12 people.) Haha! ½ pepperoni & cheese for our star player and ½ sausage, bellpepper and mushroom for us adults! Pie has the perfect crust… not too thin but not too thick. Just perfect. Came loaded with cheese and the sauce was good. Did I say this was HUGE! We had enough leftovers for Dad at home and lunch the next day! Quite a few people came in to pick up pre-ordered pies and I wondered each time if the pizza box would fit thru the door! Haha They also have glass bottled sodas as well as fountain drinks. If pizza isn’t what you crave, they also offer a gyro sandwich as well as a philly cheese steak. Gotta try those one day. Each slice was longer than my forearm… and I have LONG arms! Haha There are a few tables but the place is small. Most people take away. We sat at one table and our pizza took over another! Hee hee!

God still so good after all these years. In fact, after eating here a few days ago, I think it’s actually gotten better. The crust is still amazing, the ingredients still the freshest, and the staff is always friendly. I don’t know what else to say. I want to hug everyone when I think of this place.

This place is great. For under $ 5 you can get a large soda and the biggest slice of pizza you’ve ever had. Yum. I split it with my husband and we are both leaving stuffed. Family owned, great service. Fresh and fast, can’t beat it!

The pizza is just eh *shrugs* I love locally/family owned pizzerias as opposed to those generic chain pizza places. The place is small and we went on a Friday so it was pretty busy. I ordered a slice with 4 toppings on it. The wait was long initially and to top it off they messed up my slice somehow and had to remake it extending the wait even longer. The slice was indeed huge and the ingredients fresh so that’s why I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2. Took awhile for someone to take my order even though there was some dude standing off in the cut wearing white apron not doing anything from what I could see. I’m also giving 3 stars for their affordable prices. I’d love to go back and try their cheese steak.

The novelty of a 28″ pizza wears off fast when customer service and basic math fails. 3 toppings on one half and 3 on the other is a 3 topping pizza every place I’ve ever been, but here it is 6 toppings and charged as such. So I am paying for 6 full pizza toppings but getting only 6 ½ pizza toppings. Attempting to convince anyone that this is an unusual and unfair policy was a lost battle. I was told that most pizza places don’t do half and half, those that do charge it as full toppings, and it is too difficult to do so it is charged as 6 full toppings. I’ve never heard of such a thing in my entire pizza buying history. For a squabble over a few dollars, over an unusual and unfair policy, I will now never return and will never recommend this place to anyone else.

Not bad pizza. I’ve had better. The jumbo is HUGEHUGEHUGE. It didn’t fit in the car door. Very cheesy(the one we ordered) and the crust is thicker than you’d expect from a try NY pizza. Overall was ok.

This place is so New York. The pizza slices are huge, the burger is great, and I hear their philly cheesesteak is something you are always going to want to order when you get it. So I’m definitely going to have to go back again. It’s family owned and the dudes who worked last night are pretty awesome! If you’re in Poway, this is a definite must eat.

One piece is seriously more than enough for one person. Nice, nice people. Very welcoming. They have been around a long time, and I’d never been as they are a hike from my house and don’t deliver. Decided to go for my son’s 15th bday(hey, he’s a teenage boy and can EAT). Great value, great topping choices. Cheap drink refills. He wants to go back. My son said, best place for pizza in Poway, but not as good as Regina’s in Boston. LOL. I have to agree.

Perfect for Super Bowl time and big gatherings. Your friends will be impressed with the size of the pies you can order. I turned my folks onto it and now they complain anytime we get together for pizza and don’t order from there. Crispy crust, good cheese and the sauce is not bad either. If you have kids and your throwing a pizza party at home do yourself a favor and hit this place up.

I think in this case the phrase«Quality not quantity» applies to their pizzas. Although their pizzas are large in size, humongous actually, I thought that their pizzas could only get 3 – 4 stars at best. I walked into my AP Gov class seeing 3 large boxes laid on the tables and I was automatically amused by their size! But as I continued to eat, I realized that the Giant New York Pizzas were just adequate to me. Adequate. Ok. In my opinion the pizza was too thin and not enough cheese spread across, but it was still good(: If you want large pizzas, this is the place! Giant New York Pizzas are the kings of large pizzas.

Mike is the owner at Giant New York Pizza in Poway. He shops locally to bring back the freshest green peppers, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. for his giant pizza’s and Philly steak sandwiches. The ingredients are on display when you order and look amazing in comparison to the prepackaged stuff you see elsewhere. Mike or his son create everything fresh to order right in front of you, and incredible giant portions. The dough is made fresh daily in a huge mixer, which also grates giant blocks of real fresh mozzarella cheese for the pizzas and meatball sandwiches. The Philly is mostly ribeye steak with onions and mushrooms on a giant steamed roll and if that was not enough you get«too hot to hold» crinkled fries and a nice cold salad with Mikes own yogurt dressing. The giant slice dwarfs a normal paper plate, fresh and hot without being greasy. Ignore the«blech» haters, this is fresh appetizing food served hot and fresh, well worth finding in the most remote corner of the strip mall at Twin Peaks and Espola. Note — I have no connection to GNYP except that I eat there a LOT. ;-)

Wanting to eat some New York style pizza we ended up here at Giant New York Pizza on Twin Peaks Road. The pizza is HUGE. It seems like the typical New York pizza joint but what I liked the best is the crushed ice. Yes, I said the crush ice for my drink. It was soft yet fine and you could feel it melting in your mouth. The pizza hangs about 2 inches off the plate and there’s a way how you should eat a new york style pizza.(I learned) Eat the smaller side first then as you get to the middle fold it in half and continue to eat. The pizza didn’t taste oily and the crust was crispy. I also had the buffalo wings. Not too much of a fan for it. It seemed like it was soaked in hot sauce. I wanted it to be cooked more. They do not provide ranch or blue cheese dressing however they do have some kind of house dressing. They also gave us a little of the yogurt dipping used in Indian food with the naan bread. It’s a hole in the wall shop and the owner/workers seemed very nice too. I over heard someone say that the garlic bread tastes very good. He bought 6 orders of them. A lot of parking and easy to find. I’d return again.

Giant pies and decent lunch specials… But a lingering question remains. I picked up a lunch combo which included a super sized slice and drink. Was good, but there was something a little odd about the cheese. More on that later. It’s a small shop, but enough seats for the lunch rush. They do have a flat screen for your lunchtime enjoyment. This place is worth it for a lunch fix, but like Teelo said, the quality was a bit cheap. Teelo thought the cheese was imitation(oil based, not dairy based). I think I agree with that. It just didn’t melt, and it sweated oil. Hmm I guess you get what you pay for. 2.5 stars. Half star penalty for the questionable cheese quality.
