My company hired SSI to grind, repair, polish and seal our 3,300 sf concrete shop floor to a 1,500 grit level. I promised them that all of our equipment would be moved out before they arrived, but the equipment movers we hired botched the job, and SSI helped the new forklift operator we hired to move the equipment. SSI only charged us an extra $ 147, and they worked longer hours to make up for lost time. The finished floor looks gorgeous.
My only complaint is that the schedule slipped one day beyond what was described during the bid process, so be sure to ask that you get a worst-​case-​scenario, as well as a best-​case.
I highly recommend SSI. Of the four bidding companies, they were the most responsive, the most eager, and were about as inexpensive as the other lowest bid. Our floors and SSI’s performance exceeded our expectations.

I found Surface Solutions on the Internet when searching for «tile removal». They seemed to be the only people who did this so I gave them a call and am SO GLAD! The owners Jenny and Joe are PROMPT, RELIABLE, CLEAN, HARDWORKING, REASONABLE AND NICE PEOPLE. What more can you ask for? After having them do the dirty deed of removing the ceramic tile (which my husband had started and gave up because it was WAY harder than we thought), they started asking us what we were going to do after the floors are removed and we told them that we were going to lay hardwood ourselves. After discussing what that would entail we have decided to have them lay the hardwood as well. Since everything went so great with the removal and if we ever want to have the floors completed in our lifetime :-) we have decided to hire them to lay the floor. I will give an update after the floors are installed, but would HIGHLY recommend Jenny and Joe of Surface Solutions for any flooring needs. They can also get you a great deal on flooring but we already purchased ours before we met them. UPDATE… Our floors are finished and they are gorgeous! Joe and Jenny exceeded our expectations with their expertise. Joe is a true craftsman and did a phenomenal job with the flooring and baseboards. We decided on hickory which has light and dark pieces that need to be laid properly so you don’t get «patches» of all light or all dark which he did beautifully. So I stand by my 5 stars and would give them 10 if I could! We will see them again in January as they are returning when the tile comes in for the hearth as they do tile and concrete work as well.
