The food is always great at Einstein Bros but I’ve been to many, for many years, and it’s always pretty consistently good, in my opinion. The STAFF is what makes this Einstein Brothers so exceptional. They remember my name, where my kids go to school, what I do for a living, oh, yeah, my bagel preferences, I guess that’s important, huh? They are always friendly, they are genuinely funny-I can always count on them for a giggle while I’m waiting-and if I do have to wait for some reason, they make it right. They even care when a customer is having a bad day. I’ve been going there for a while now and today was a bad day, well, a bad week, okay, the end of an awful MONTH. The girls behind the counter this morning could tell(maybe because I gave my real name and not«Batman») and asked if I was ok! I just shook my head, I wanted to cry because it was so sweet for them to even notice and ask. When one of them was taking bacon out of the oven I jokingly said, «Just put some bacon in a bag. That will make it all better.» When I got home? Some bacon in a bag. Yup. Okay, maybe it seems minor but when you’ve had a really awful, terrible, horrible day, week, month… sometimes a few slices of bacon in a bag from a stranger really does make life seem just a bit better. That’s why I will continue to be a regular at the Prairie Village Einstein Brothers Bagels. Oh, yeah. The bagels are really good too.

This opened with a great potential and lived up to it initially. Now the service is horrible. When trying to order, the staff has no idea what is in the menu, can’t festive the ingredients on a sandwich, and generally act very uninterested. Not worth stopping.

Of the places I can get a bagel/bagel sandwich, a coffee, and study/do work that are near my house, this place is my favorite. I tend to alternate between here and the Einstein on Shawnee Mission in Fairway, but this one is by far the more spacious and has a table with charging stations for laptops. It also has the more appealing and quiet outdoor seating area if one chooses to be out in the fresh air, just by virtue of location. Even though it does get its busy rushes, the staff usually seems able to accommodate and get people through without much chaos, and the space is big enough and with sufficient enough seating that I don’t feel bad taking up a seat to study. I’ve only been coming to this one regularly since January, but in that time, I’ve known the staff to be pleasant and accommodating, and I haven’t run into any instances of them not having the food I wanted ready, as some have evidently experienced. Prices are a bit higher than I’d prefer, but that’s specific to the chain, not this location, obviously, and I’m willing to pay a little for decent bagels.

The first time I went in after it was reopened I ran in to grab lunch for a friend and I while she waited in the car with my sleeping baby. I asked the lady I was ordering from if I could do two separate orders and she literally sighed and rolled her eyes at me. The best part was her name tag said«manager». The second time I went in for lunch a few months later with another friend around 11am. We asked what was on a few different sandwiches but were told they no longer sell challah rolls, so we asked for another type of bagel, they were out of that too. We asked for potato salad and they were out of that as well. I don’t know how they’d be out of so many things before lunch? We got our sandwiches and there wasn’t any bacon on the one we ordered(which the lady had said there was), I got zero pickles with mine but my friend got 3AND there was paper on both slices of cheese in the sandwiches. We were laughing at this point because we had experienced so many problems at this location. We finally went back inside and told them and they got the manager(this time it was a man) who had attitude but gave us a free bagel with schmear. It’s kind of sad how quickly this chain has gone downhill. It used to be one of my favorites.

After writing the previous review I received a email from the manager. She noted my concern and offered a gift certificate to address my frustration which was nice. The last few times we have gone to this Einstein Brothers they have had ample selections in stock so that’s been an improvement.

The bagels are delicious, but customer service is sorely lacking at this location. The old Prairie Village location was run much better. The teenage workers seem have difficulty getting the orders correct or at least clarifying the order, and they seem to always be out of the bagels we want, which is plain.

Loud, loud, loud. Everytime I have gone in here there has been some stay at home mom jibber jabbering with her friend at a table while their kids bellowed out randomly and ran all over the restaurant… and I mean RAN. Quite annoying and out of place for a bagel shop with barista concocted beverages. Some people just need a manager to kindly ask for parents to please control your children… not everyone realizes that a majority of coffeehouse patrons come to enjoy a stiff injection of caffeine and to sit back and read the news or fall deep into their kindle. I got sucked in by a poster that bragged about the hot, frozen, or iced pumpkin spice latte. It had a nice dollop of whipped cream on top with what looked like a caramel and pumpkin drizzle over top. I got a plastic cup with a lid, no whipped cream, and the drink tasted horrible. The dude that made it really didn’t seem to understand barista terminology, so I suffered through it and wrote it off as flop due to it being crafted by a beginner. I went a second time a couple of weeks later and tried again… different person made it, but it was the same result. When you put a picture of your featured drink on a huge poster, the presentation had better be exactly what you are pimping on your walls. If the drink doesn’t come like that, the staff should at least be trained to ask you if you want whipped cream, etc. Most of all, it is hard to believe that as good as their bagels are that they would servce something that tasted so horrible. I have tried the Pumpkin Lattes at Starbucks, Scooters, Homers, QuickTrip, and Le Peep… they are all awesome! Einstein’s TOTALLYSUCKS!!! The service here is slow, the customer service lacks any personal touch, and this place is loud and overrun by kids who are part of the new Entitlement Generation where you get time outs and a lecture instead of a sorely deserved ass whipping like us older folks got when we acted like we didn’t know what manners were. I really like the bagels here, but I will no longer go to this location. My home for Einstein’s will be on Shawnee Mission Parkway next to Stroud’s in Fairway. It is much quieter and quicker.

I like the thin bagel option and this place sells them. Unfortunately the customer service here really sucks. I ordered a bagel sandwich and I asked for a blackberry lemonade, since it was not out. One of the staff members came out of the back with something that tasted like water with a little bit of blackberry juice. I placed my drink back on the counter. I told them that it was not blackberry lemonade, the manager just looked at my glass and went back to inventory. Not even an offer to give me a refund or ask me if I wanted something else. I ate at a dirty table and left without acknowledgement. They don’t really want business.

Of the three Einstein’s I use, this is my favorite. It is the cleanest and the employees are the nicest. Their neighborhood blend coffee is my favorite coffee ever. I drink ay more Starbucks coffee, but I like the flavor of this blend the best.

I’ve eaten at Einstein Bros more than once, but this last visit was particularly awesome. I was getting ready to head out of town and bought lunch for myself and for my employees. I got a *delicious* applewood sausage wrapped in a pretzel roll and a «pizza bagel» — think of the microwave equivalents, but this is actually delicious and freshly made with a bagel of your choice. Add an odwalla and a freshly-baked cookie and you’ve got a good afternoon.

Yummy bagels with good service. The prices seem a little high for what you get, but you really can’t beat a potato bagel with honey almond schemer for a delicious breakfast on the go. For morning meetings when one is in charge of providing the food, a big bin of bagels beats a box of donuts any day.
