Picture this. warm summer night, outdoor seating on Nassau St, cold beer/wine(BYOB), assorted oysters and appetizers, whole fish cooked to perfection. Doesn’t get any better than that in this area. If I was a single dude looking to take a date somewhere on a warm summer night, probably would be here. Checks all the boxes without making you look like you tried too hard.

The CEO of my company recomend Blue Point Grill and I have to say it’s quite possibly the best seafood restaurant in central jersey. They have a very large selection of fish; from the typical entrees like salmon and crab cakes to Canadian swordfish, nova Scotia halibut, yellow fin tuna and Australian barramundi. As expected they are a bit expensive but not overly so. Their oysters are usually priced between $ 2.50 to $ 3.50 per piece. They maintain a good selection of oysters & clams. In fact mostly all of their appetizers are delicious especially their Portugese octopus. Lastly all seafood places serve Cole slaw and theirs tasted very fresh or homemade.

This place in one word is amazing! I have been to every restaurant in Princeton, but this is my go to place and where I recommend people from out of town go to. Their fish is the best around and if you have a person with you that doesn’t eat fish, my son says it’s one of, if not the best steak he’s ever had. If I had to choose, you have to get their Oysters(best selection around) and their Chilean sea bass for an entrée. Oh and their soy wasabi tuna appetizer, their scallops, their Suzuki Mulloway and… To some it up, there is not one bad dish here and it’s a BYOB! I would put this place against any of the big NYC restaurants I’ve dined at. Ok, now I have to make a reservation because my mouth is watering.

I have been going to Blue Point Grill for at least 10 years now. The food had been consistently good. We returned this past weekend with some friends to celebrate my birthday and it did not disappoint. My wife ordered the crab and guacamole martini app, it was very tasty. Crab was fresh. I ordered 12 oysters, mainly from Rhode Island. It was fresh and tasty. For entrée, my wife ordered the crab cake and I ordered my usual, crispy black bass with ginger dipping sauce, it was delicious as usual. The black bass always deliver the same consistent goodness for as long as I remember. That’s why this is my go to for a good seafood dinner. BYOB is an added bonus.

This is my absolute favorite fish restaurant. The fish choices are very fresh and consistently well prepared. I have never had an overcooked meal. The waitstaff are always friendly and professional. It is BYOB, so the end bill isn’t over the top as a bonus.(Incidentally, this is also my two daughter’s favorite restaurant! Aged 9&13).

Had dinner last night with my wife and two friends. Amazing dinner. Had a variety if oysters, chilean sea bass and scallops. All were fresh caught and brought in from fish market next store. Cooked perfectly with only little salt or pepper, no fancy sauces needed. Staff was very knowledgeable… Paired with champagne. Def be back.

My boyfriend and I tried this place out this weekend for a nice evening out. We were seated right away and got to eat outside which was wonderful! The table was a little small(our wine chiller had to go on the ground), but our appetizers came out really quickly(orange glazed scallops and buffalo calamari) and were prepared deliciously! Our entrees were prepared well also,(I had the Nova Scotia Halibut and he had the Atlantic Salmon and Suzuki Mulloway, both with garlic mashed potatoes). Everything was very fresh, but after eating at Blue Water Seafood in East Brunswick, we both agreed that the fish at Blue Water was more flavorful. Overall, not bad at all, service was good, fish was fresh and the ambiance was great(short walk to The Bent Spoon) but for the price, I think you get more bang for your buck at Blue Water.

I’ve been going to BPG since it opened. By far, its the best seafood restaurant in New Jersey. The fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. My personal fav is the grilled calamari appetizer and grilled swordfish for a main.

As one couple hailed from Staten Island and another couple from Philly, we decided Princeton would be perfect meeting spot. We chose BPG based on reviews and we were all delighted with this choice. Lobster bisque superb, warm goat cheese salad yummy. Grill octopus tender and delightful. Calamari ok, but sauce bland. Our entrees of swordfish, etouffe(sp) and lemon fish excellent. btw, Cole slaw very good! Too full for dessert!!! Service efficient and friendly! Only drawback, while we managed a nice booth type table, most seating is banquet sharing, which we don’t care for, but for seafood this good, I can see why they want to pack them in.

Came here with another couple and were thrilled that it is a BYOB. Tried the following: lobster bisque: delicious crab cakes: lots of crab and minimal breading garlic mash: can’t go wrong apple fritter a la mode: favorite dessert Definitely make reservations. All the food was absolutely delicious but thought it was just a little over priced. Fortunately the BYOB saves money on drinks. Wait staff was friendly and offered good recommendations. Would recommend for a nice night out in Princeton.

I was not expecting Blue Point Grill to be a nice sit-down restaurant — I admit I got too excited after seeing the crab cake images off Unilocal and decided it was where I wanted to try for dinner. Blue Point is located a few blocks from Princeton University. Drove around for about 15 minutes before finding parking. Surprised to see the restaurant full on a Tuesday evening. Luckily, we took the last available table for two with no reservations. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake($ 30): Two pieces of crab cakes served with choice of side. I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes which were creamy and a great side to accompany the crab cakes. It doesn’t look like much but it will definitely fill you up! Broccoli($ 6): Needed some greens so we opted for the broccoli. Good side veggie to share with others. Cooked in broth and served with onions. *Make reservations!

We dined here for our first anniversary. I started with the warm goat cheese salad. It was absolutely delicious. Hubby had the Manhattan She Crab soup — he said not enough crab and way too much veggies. For the dinner, I had the Chilean sea bass with mashed sweet potatoes. My hubby had a mixed grill with steelfish salmon and one other fish. The first thing I noticed was that the plating was severely lacking. It was just a scoop of mashed next to the fish. I wish I took a picture… it just looked«sad.» I know this is a little thing, but when you go to a restaurant, the plating kind of sets the stage for your appetite. The food itself was good upon eating — not the best, but Chilean sea bass is not native to this area so it’s obviously not going to be as fresh. Husband liked the mixed grill fish a lot! They do make the menu daily with their freshest catches(fish market is right next door). The ambiance is nice. It is a small restaurant, warm and bright lighting. It feels a lot like a cute little fish house on the Boston waterfront or something even though it’s landlocked in Princeton. I can understand that it might be noisy on a weekend. We went on a weekday, and there was just one kid having a small tantrum(much to the dismay of his parents — oops!), and it seemed to echo off all of the walls in the place. It didn’t really seem like a place for younger kids, but I think that’s because the intimate, warm lit atmosphere gives it a more romantic vibe. But to each his or her own when it comes to parenting. It certainly isn’t SO stiff of a place that it would be a faux pas to bring kids. The staff is very relaxed/laid back. In reality, it’s not as mediocre as a 3 but also not really a 4 either. This is one of those instances where ½ ratings would be great. I decided to round up. Also, restaurant had no extra touches for anniversary or anything. I don’t necessarily«expect» something, but it can really make you feel special when a place does a small gesture to recognize it’s not just another night out. I would make a reservation for large groups. It is a small enough place that an unannounced large group on a busy night might be hard to pull off. There is off-street parking in a small little lot next to the fish market. It was super crowded parking even for a weeknight. Nice to not have to drive around Princeton looking for a spot though.

Located in the heart of Princeton this instantly became one of my favorite sea food spots. We got to sit outside and had an awesome waitress who really new her stuff. We brought our own wine which was cooled for us in a bucket. We tried the oyster sampler and they are all amazing! This is definitely a spot for oyster lovers! We had the guacamole martini with crab which was delicious and recommended by our waitress. We also had the shrimp with some kind of lime sauce which was labeled as another favorite by the server. It was great and very flavorful! We had the Halibut and the mussels which were good. For dessert we had chocolate cake and peanut butter cake. Sweet stuff! I really enjoyed the atmosphere here along with the food and service. Definitely coming back!

My absolute favorite restaurant in Princeton! The sea bass is amazing! It is too bad they do not serve it everyday on their menu even though they really should! The mixed grill is a great option as well as you get two different types of fish typically and of course their yummy sides. The fish is always cooked to perfection and tastes fresh and light. I never leave feeling disgustingly full. I love the sweet potato fries here! And you also must get the New England clam chowder. You really can’t go wrong with anything here. I don’t say that often with restaurants. Another bonus(as if there aren’t so many already) it is BYOB. There’s a liquor store a block away. If you come on the weekends, it’s smart to make reservations. I believe they are on OpenTable so you can earn dining points!

I’m a fan of the BPG because the fish is excellent: I ordered the Barnegat Bluefish and thought that the grilled fish was superb. Other blue points in favor of this establishment: the BYOB policy(which is quite common around town) and the outdoor tables(perfect in warm weather!). I started with a caesar salad and detected very little caesar quality on my plate. What was before me seemed kind of like a generic green salad with some caesaresque dressing. It was fine, but I should have ordered the grilled sardines as a starter instead. The side that I ordered with the bluefish was the«garlic smashed». This is a portion of(very rich) mashed potatoes that had been accosted by some garlic. That was definitely OK, though a baked potato or even some freedom fries might have been a saner choice. The service was friendly and competent. On a Tuesday night with rain in the forecast, it would have been easy for walk-ins to get a table. We made reservations ahead of our visit; I recommend that you do the same if you can.

Blue Point will never let you down. Definitely try to make a reservation unless you don’t mind sitting at the oyster bar(only four seats there). The interior of the place is simple and cute. Some tables are a bit close together. There’s a large mermaid figurehead on one wall and more nautical pictures on others. Monday is sushi night! Super fresh and large rolls are made by one chef that comes in. They are all very good and different! When I come here I usually order blackened scallops or blackened organic salmon. Sometimes I get the mixed grill. It’s two portions of fish including salmon, Arctic char, halibut, swordfish, snapper and more. It changes daily. Definitely get them blackened! I usually go with a sweet potato for my side. It comes with a lovely cinnamon butter. When I was here recently I tried the soft-shell crab. Really good! I definitely could’ve eaten more than two. The side plates of asparagus and brussel sprouts are really good. The spicy calamari is a nice appetizer. Of course, the oysters are amazing! I’ve always liked Kumamotos, but I think the Pemaquids are even better. For dessert, hands-down order the key lime pie. It’s delectable here! Comes with a topping of whipped cream and a couple strawberries. Be sure to bring some white wine because this restaurant is a BYOB. Bön appetit!

There is not a whole lot to say about blue point beyond the fact that they have Impeccable seafood(most of which are wild caught), great service, and fresh ingredients. Also the outdoor seating is a huge plus. This is my go to seafood spot in Princeton. There’s nothing that makes me happier than bringing a bottle of wine to a restaurant that I know is sure to please. Tips: get the buffalo calamari or the crab and avocado martini to start. I promise you won’t be let down. For a side get the garlic mashed potato. Oh and the entrees are big enough to share. The crab cakes we had tonight were heavenly ! Make a reservation or wait at your own risk people. Oh yea. Oyster selection on point!

This is my go to seafood place in central Jersey and my husband’s favorite. They serve reliably fresh seafood w/the fish selection changing everyday based on what’s caught. And this place is poppin’ … on a warm Sunday afternoon, we decided to go w/a 4:45 dinner reservation because nothing else was available until much later. We were seated promptly and our table was in the back, with the full view of the fresh oysters that were to be shucked. It’s great that this place is BYOB, esp since the drink selections are minimal… they have pepsi products and ice tea. Our server was efficient and friendly. We started with steamed clams in garlic sauce($ 20/12)…yum. The clams were fresh and the sauce was nice and garlicky and we made sure to use the bread to sop up the liquid. Next, we got to the grilled octopus. no complaints there. Finally, we decided to share the Chilean Sea Bass($ 42). First we squeezed lemon on top to give it a citrusy buttery flavor and then we dived in. Nicely charred on top, the inside was moist and soft. The taste was mild w. a very slight bitter taste. The garlic mashed potato was also very good, creamy and generous w/the butter. When we finished our last bite, we were stuffed and glad we only ordered on fish dish. It wasn’t too easy on our wallet as the meal cost slightly less than $ 100 incl tax and tip, but it was satisfying and we keep coming back.
