Great Ice cream. Nothing else. Nice staff. Don’t get coffee or hot drinks here. Don’t get baked goods here. Just get Ice cream and you won’t be disappointed. Halo Farms is not too far away, and this is their Ice Cream. It’s superior. Really Really Good. Place is kinda dark.

I gave a three star review because I had an annoying experience a few months ago, but I love halo pub so I felt bad. Great ice cream and everything else, definitely go there. If you love peanut butter like me, try the peanut paradise. Only problem is that they’ve been putting less ice cream on the cones; oh well, still worth it.

One of the three best ice cream spots in Princeton, NJ. I have an affinity for Thomas Sweet since I grew up on it but recently I’ve been more into Halo Pub and The Bent Spoon. Can’t go wrong with any flavor. Organic, fresh, and fantastic. I usually go for the strawberry or the mango — and a couple of times I’ve made them do a strawberry hot chocolate float for me too!

Love this place, have been going here forever! Very friendly staff, and lines always out the door no matter what time of day. Great options to choose from flavor wise, I recommend chocolate chocolate chip! Love it!

Cute little ice cream shop with coffees/teas and doughnuts for sale. A separate seating area in another room with some cakes and desserts in a refrigerated case. They also sell something else, too, but didn’t fully look to see what it was. They have about 4 – 5 cases of ice creams with all sorts of flavors, but nothing unique or out of the ordinary. Some of the flavors I sampled were overly sweet(cashew caramel & vanilla choc chip cookie dough). I opted for a single scoop of peanut paradise on a sugar cone. This was definitely peanut paradise! YUMS! It’s vanilla ice cream swirled with peanut butter with chocolate covered peanuts. MMmmm the best part was that this only cost me $ 2.25 with tax! What?! Is this even real? I haven’t paid for ice cream this cheap since forever! Yay! I thoroughly enjoyed my scoop in the cold weather today, that’s for sure. Eating ice cream when it’s cold out is the best! I will definitely visit this place again the next time I’m in Princeton! :)

Based on the spoonfuls I’ve sampled and bites I’ve sneaked from friends’ cups, I’d say the ice cream at Halo Pub is worth the rave reviews. Unfortunately I’ve never made it here in above-freezing temperature, so this review is primarily for their hot drinks. I’ve tried Halo’s caramel apple cider, Paris hot chocolate, eggnog, and«cappu-nog.» All are great for warming up your hands and your insides when it’s cold outside, but my favorite is probably the cappu-nog, a mix of their sweet double-cream eggnog and quality espresso. The Paris hot chocolate(essentially melted Valrhona chocolate) is rich and indulgent in the best way, but it can be a bit cloying in anything other than the«short» size. Cider is the best option for a hot drink that’s lighter but still season-appropriate. The best part of Halo Pub is their prices. Price and size options differ for the various drinks, but as an example, I paid $ 2.25 for a tall cappu-nog today. I can’t think of a single place that’s so affordable. Highly recommend for a cozy respite from the cold!

Great ice cream, from a dairy in Trenton(«Halo Farm makes, Trenton takes» the slogan goes, I think). Inexpensive too, and they also serve La Colombe coffee, and make a mean espresso or mocha. It’s a local institution, has been around for ever, and yet maintains a good quality and the lowest prices around to boot. Very classic place to get ice cream, and a nice atmosphere for a solid old time coffee experience.

If the lines too long at the Bent Spoon, head on over to the Halo Pub! Although this place has more traditional flavors and ice cream, it’s still a great selection.

Be it a hot summer for an ice cream or a cold night for a hot chocolate I like the vibe and ambiance of the Halo Pub. The servers are friendly and attentive. Their ice cream is good but the special Parisian hot chocolate I had a few weeks back before catching a show at the theater should have been HOT. A tepid beverage on this particularly cold night was a disappointment. Simple attention to detail is what would make this place shine.

for a pretty tiny area, downtown princeton sure does have a lot of ice cream offerings. halo pub, thomas sweet’s, the bent spoon… and multiple fro-you stops too. it’s hard to wrong with any of them. if you’re looking for creative, artisanal flavors with vegan options and are willing to pay $$ for a small amount of high-quality ice cream– definitely head to bent spoon. on the other hand, if you’re looking for some creamy, locally produced, typical ice cream flavors, run to halo pub… but be prepared to wait in a line outside the shop– it’s a busy shop in the summer /any time the weather is nice! halo pub is a princeton staple– located behind palmer square on hulfish street, close to the corner of witherspoon. in order to keep quality and freshness a top priority, they source all of their dairy for halo pub and halo ice creams from local dairy farms– this also has the benefit of decreasing the costs. you can get a huuuuge cup or cone for about $ 2-$ 3! and though not as creative as some of bent spoon’s options(you won’t find corn bacon ice cream here!), halo caters to just about any palate– strawberry with chocolate chunks, butter pecan, rocky road, mocha, vanilla bean, amaretto, peanut butter, black cherry, cookie dough, etc etc… you get the point. yes, there’s sorbet too. yes, there’s soft serve(including non-fat soft serve) also. try the peanut butter. yes, there are sprinkles(no, not jimmies) and other topping options/ yes, there are waffle cones in various sizes, sugar cones, etc. yes, you can get a milkshake. yes, you can sample before committing to a flavor. oh, there’s fabulous coffee too. and ice cream cakes and desserts(in the adjacent halo fête… which also has a few tables where you can devour your treats). bonus: they have live music on saturdays during the summer months in the small area just outside the storefront.

Princeton gem makes sweet dreams come true one scoop at a time. Old-school ice cream shoppe with fabulous flavors, timeless, friendly service at old school prices! High quality ice cream with a perfectly creamy consistency. $ 1.75 for a ½ scoop, $ 2.25 for a single scoop — whaaaaat. Staff is super friendly with helping you navigate their giant array of flavors to recommend the one that might just hit the spot. Top-selling flavors include mint cookies and cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, chocolate coffee almond. Had the latter which was absolutely delish! Friends enjoyed the chocolate with strawberry and toasted almond. Full espresso bar and full bakery in the back, rest assured something for everyone. Highly recommend!

Great ice cream and coffee in a beautiful setting. Nothing feels more Princeton any time of the year than this place. With an old library /university vibe and décor, you can’t go wrong. The ice cream is simple but delicious and service always top notch.

Halo Pub is my preferred ice cream in Princeton over its rival the Bent Spoon. Halo Pub has a much larger variety of flavors, which are more classic than the Bent Spoon. Even though their flavors may not be as unique, I think they taste a lot better! A huge plus is that they are MUCH cheaper than the Bent Spoon. Don’t be scared of the line out the door, it’ll move decently fast and is worth the wait! My favorite Halo Pub flavor that I’ve tried so far has to the the Coffee Heath Bar. I ADORE it. Halo Pub’s low prices are shocking compared to the typical Princeton prices. Their one scoop is the PERFECT size(pretty much two scoops). We only paid $ 4.50 for our two ice creams. They don’t have a credit card minimum which is great also. They have a seating area connected to the ice cream parlor, so you have the option to sit inside or go explore the beautiful Princeton streets with your ice cream. Halo Pub is the perfect place to go after a dinner in Princeton!

I like crazy ice cream flavors, and though plentiful, the flavors at Halo Pub are not crazy. The ice cream is good quality though. I like the creamy texture, it seems very decadent for the relatively cheap prices. Also, both times I went here the line has been out the door. The line moves pretty quickly but sometimes it’s hard to justify for ice cream.

Oh, Halo. Truly the best quality, best service and best prices around. Halo’s classiness and standard of excellence definitely merits praise, and I can tell by the long-winding lines outside the store daily that my sentiment is clearly shared. I take my ice cream pretty seriously, so much so that I even make it at home, but I gladly store my machine away when I’ve got a pint of Halo, bc this stuff is out of this world. The ice cream is of supreme quality– texture is creamy and thick, flavors are authentic and purely organic(made at their very own Halo Farm), and the variety is unparalleled. With about 50 flavors constantly in stock, Halo is consistent and reliable, and my number one choice for quality ice cream in New Jersey. I’ve tried every flavor on the menu as I’ve frequented this ice cream parlor all my life – here are a few of my recommendations: If you like Vanilla: Tahiti Vanilla Bean Nuts: Praline Pecan(my personal favorite) Chocolate: Chocolate Chocolate chip Coffee: Coffee Choc almond/Coffee Heath bar Fruity flavors: Mango Can’t decide? You can never go wrong with Cookies & Cream! As you walk in, you’ll be greeted by dim lighting and what feels like the inside of a cow lovers cabin– the countless framed photos of cows and dairy farms covering the walls are hilariously unnecessary but certainly add character. Although seating indoors is limited, their location within the downtown Princeton area is ideal; there’s plenty of additional outdoor seating either directly outside the store or across the street by the library. Winters are just as busy at Halo– I always order their hot chocolate float with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream; take a swig of hot chocolate and scoop out a piece of cookie dough from the bottom of your cup– pop it in your mouth, and voila! you have the perfect combination, the yin and yang, of food and drink. A few noteworthy observations: –halo goes by half scoops: so a kids size is 1 half scoop priced at $ 1.75, a small is 2 half scoops(up to 2 flavors) at $ 2.25, a medium is 4 half scoops(aka a double scoop), etc. –no public restroom –no chocolate/vanilla soft serve(although available at other location) –if you have a nut allergy, let a bartender know! They’ll sanitize the ice cream scoop properly for you –when ordering a milkshake, you can specify your milk preference if you just ask! Chocolate, regular, and skim available.(Chocolate milk is divine) –free water available –no sugar free options –low calorie soft serve options available –unlimited samples Halo has won my heart– should I ever move out of this area, I know that I will gladly travel miles for a pint of any of their stellar flavors. Halo is, undoubtedly, an Ice Cream Connoisseur and a Master of the art of traditional ice cream. Update: They now accept credit cards! Can’t get much better than this.

There is no lack of ice cream options on Nassau street, but Halo Pub is by far my favorite. Although they don’t have the crazy flavors featured at Bent Spoon, the quality(AND price) is superb. The ice cream is super creamy, not too sweet, just so great! Their mango & raspberry sorbets are also out of this world incredible; the mango will often sell out by nighttime. Their ice cream cakes from Halo Fête next door/attached are also great. I love that Halo is open late, has seating, and serves coffee(pretty good coffee too!). Also, they’re not cash only anymore! The only flaw is that their flavors(while there are a TON to choose from) are quite conventional. If Halo would start thinking out of the box in that area, it would bump my rating to a solid 5 stars.

Pros: great selections, a giant scoop-size, and very creamy, delightful ice cream! Out of all the ice cream places in Princeton(which all have been named top 10 in NJ) I think Halo Pub is my favorite. The strawberry flavors actually tastes authentic: the strawberry health bar literally tastes like a granola bar mixed with strawberry ice cream, and the strawberry chocolate chip ice cream is just amazingness. I love that«1 scoop» is actually one giant scoop for a pretty cheap price. The place itself is spacious, with an adjacent room with a few tables to sit. But if you prefer to sit outside, there are outdoor benches right next to the place too. I went on a day when there was a band performing in the bench area, so what’s better than amazing summer weather, some nice live music, good company, and good ice cream?

Halo Pub, how I heart thee. Halo Pub prides itself on serving ice cream made with their own milk and cream. The ice cream flavors resemble flavors that you would see at any other ice cream joint but that doesn’t mean that they taste like any other old ice cream. The ice cream is very creamy, even the sorbets! High quality ice cream at low prices, that’s the motto and I have to say Halo Pub lives up to their motto. The ice cream here is easily a dollar or two less than other ice cream parlors in Princeton. Some of my favorite flavors are the sorbets, Cashew Caramel and Peanut Paradise. Craving more than just a scoop or two or three of your favorite flavor? Head over to Halo Farms in Trenton and you can buy pints of your favorite flavor. Make sure you have an empty freezer because you may just go ice cream crazy. or is that just me?

My favorite ice cream place to date. I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years, and it’s still as good as ever. I personally think it’s better than Thomas Sweet and Bent Spoon, as well as more affordable. The location is great. It’s on the edge of Princeton«downtown»(Nassau St where all the shops are), right across from the library. The inside has a very rustic, cozy feel to it. It’s like entering a classic creamery. Everything is wooden, and there are little tables and booths in the adjoining parlor-like room for friends to sit and talk at while enjoying their ice cream. The ice cream is out front, in large tubs under the glass. There are a TON of flavors, ranging from the classics to more unique flavors(like Amaretto Choco Chip Almond), and from the sweet(like Choco Chip Cookie Dough) to the tart/fruity(like Raspberry Cream Sorbet). I’ve tried a ton of flavors and enjoyed every single one, but my favorites are Raspberry Cream Sorbet, Choco Chip Cookie Dough, Peanut Paradise(kind of tastes like Reese’s) and Strawberry Choco Chip. What makes Halo Pub special is not only its large selection of delicious flavors, but also that its ice cream is churned just right and always fresh. The ice cream is creamy but still has the condensed, fluffy texture of homemade ice cream. The chocolate chips or nuts or cookie dough in them can be easily tasted, adding just the right taste to each bite. Halo Pub ice cream is, I believe, made fresh every day at the Halo Farm in Lawrenceville, with their own milk and cream, and other natural components. I usually get two ½ scoops, which equals the price of 1 scoop($ 2.25). This may seem pricey, but ½ scoop is quite a lot of ice cream already. 1 scoop completely fills a little cup. I like getting this amount after dinner, as a decently sized sweet dessert. There are also other sweets. They have soft serve sorbets – I want to try the raspberry and pomegranate flavors one day – that you can put toppings on, as well as ice cream floats and ice cream cakes(found in the adjoining parlor). If you’re visiting Princeton(or Hamilton, since they have a branch their too), definitely come to Halo Pub for dessert or a small treat. Its ice cream is unbeatable.

Halo Pub is definitely one of my favorite go-to ice cream spot in the area! First of all, I LOVE the location! I could either sit and enjoy the pub-like décor or grab and go for a nice scenic walk in Princeton! They offer a generous variety of flavors ranging from fruity sorbet like mango to sweet and rich chocolate chip coffee! I heard that all their ice creams are homemade in the local halo farm! The ice cream here are creamy, smooth in texture, and very rich in flavors! But they don’t linger in your mouth with bad after taste. Besides ice cream, they also serve ice cream cake, chocolates, and other pastries, but they vary from time to time. The service is AWESOME! Friendly staff! VERYQUICK and EFFICIENT! They offer free samples or you can ask for them! Plus, they accept credit cards now. Usually I only get a scoop and that’s only $ 2.25, which is a very good price! They offer quite a lot of seats and tables, but this place can get packed at nights and on weekends! It’s a very nice spot to hang out and catch up with friends and families!
