I have never, ever, ever had better ice cream ANYWHERE!(Not even in Europe!) I’ve only had the pleasure of going here twice in my lifetime… because I live in the frozen tundra of Minnesota and went when I visited my best friend who then lived in central Jersey. Anytime I have a friend who is visiting NJ I always tell them to go to The Bent Spoon… and every time they take my advice they will tell me how right I was… it really is the best ice cream EVER! The ingredients are local and organic… and they make them daily! So it’s all fresh! The only thing bad I can say… they don’t have a location here in Minnesota… yet! :)

The Bent Spoon has definitely changed my perception and expectations of ice cream. It is always an adventure to try their new flavors. I absolutely love their ricotta ice cream and once(a few years ago) they had a strawberry saffron sorbet that was beyond amazing. I’m hoping that makes an appearance on their menu this summer! Aside from ice cream, their cupcakes are really, really good. Their chocolate frosting is so addictive!

Came here on a blistering weekend; the line was out the door, yet things moved pretty quickly. I was drawn here for their vegan options and was so impressed by the texture of the sorbetto. The dark chocolate is absolutely sinful, but I found the chocolate mint to be cloyingly sweet and very overwhelming. I felt like I needed to drink six water bottles and eat only vegetables for the next week after eating that lol. Would definitely go back for the dark chocolate sorbetto, though. The quality and decent affordability gives it 4 stars in my book. Would love to see some more sorbetto flavors!

You had a lackluster dinner a few blocks away(where the only saving grace was seeing the US soccer team beat Paraguay) and now you head outside into the hot and muggy night and realize you need something cool and refreshing. «To the Bent Spoon!» one of your pals mentions. The line is down the block with mostly Princeton students I’m old enough to be one of their professors(if I were super smart and hadn’t only gotten a 220 on my SAT’s) or the well-off older peeps showing off their convertibles and penny-loafers. Eventually you get to the front of the shop and now you’re seeing all sorts of bizarre flavors and concoctions and it’s one of the perks of having young kids — so the 3 of you all get something different and you can sample a bit of each. I’m not even much of an ice cream person but I’m still thinking about that damn Turkish coffee(with cardamom) and their cookies ‘n cream and strawberry-rhubarb were all seriously delicious as well. Cash only and they’re not cheap. But they’re liberal(Ivy school pun alert! Take that Harvard!) with their portions. Bonus points for all the environmental and locally-sourced work the shop is a part of.

Tiny little place. But as they say«Good things come in small sizes». :) One of the best ice-cream places in my book. I got the Lavender Mascarpone and the Chocolate Earl Grey. Looking forward to trying more flavors from this cute little place!

On a hot summer day nothing beats the Vanilla and Rhubarb ice cream, or may be Passion Fruit, or Avocado, or … well not exactly sure when I should stop with the selection of flavors. Basically this is an incredible shop with huge selection of various ice creams and crowds to match the quality. When we got there the line was out the door. Not that the place is large enough to hold a huge crowd but still. Even then the line went pretty quickly even though the selection was somewhat dizzying. The ice cream beats a lot of places in the same business and it doesn’t melt immediately after you go outside to eat it. There is still quite some time to finish one’s cone before one needs to go to a bathroom to wash the ice cream from ones hands and pants. :)

Locally sourced and fresh ingredients for many of their flavors, ice cream and sorbet flavors, and even Vegan options(although I’ve never had them). Using fruit/ingredients from local farms they’re partnered with(and they advertise where the flavor is from on the board!) makes me feel really good about supporting local business. I like that they serve it in small cups and the portion isn’t obscenely big, so it can’t be too bad for you! THEBEST discovery I’ve made was that you can pick out one of their giant-delicious-amazing –looking cookiea and they’ll make you an ice cream sandwich with whatever flavor your choice. Watch out — its unbelievable, and super messy. Also — sad note, they are closed in the winter, once found myself here while it was snowing and they were closed for the winter. Sad, but totally understandable. *It is TINY inside. Hardly room to move around and seating is always scarce. For me, I like to go to the bench in the square nearby so I never mind, but it’s a bit overwhelming to get in and out at times. The line moves quick-ish, but be prepared to wait as they let you sample as many flavors as you want before ordering!

The Bent Spoon uses local, fresh ingredients. I really like that they partner with local farms, since it makes me feel good not just about what I’m eating and where it came from, but also the fact that I’m supporting people nearby rather than big business. On a nice day, there are lines out the door and down the street(there’s very little seating or space inside). My favorite thing to order is the ice cream sandwich with peanut butter cookies and the chocolate hazelnut ice cream. They have some staples and also experiment with interesting flavors like lavender, cream, olive oil, kiwi, etc. The only downside is the price: as far as ice cream goes, it’s a bit expensive. Also– it’s cash only, so come prepared!

Instant love! This is a tiny place that serves amazing ice-cream, so its no wonder that its always so packed. Luckily, there are benches in the park right across the street, so you can spend time outside enjoying your take away. Have only tried the ice-creams so far(their sorbets are said to be great too!), and the flavors are to die for. Must visit if you are in Princeton.

Must-Do for all Princeton visitors. Whenever I stop by the tables are packed. There are benches at the park nearby and in downtown Princeton so plan to snack and walk/find a bench. The flavors are brilliant, unique, and always good. I have had the Blood Orange, Lavender Mascarpone, and Salted caramel. I heard that during the holidays there is a Tree flavor that is green and tastes like Christmas tree. Not sure if I would want to have Christmas Tree for dessert but it goes to show Bent Spoon does not follow the rules. #BentSpoon #NoRules

I went here after dinner in a nearby restaurants, didn’t really know what to expect. At that time all I want was to get really good ice cream and go home. So I went in ordered what I wanted and right after I picked out all the flavor, I went straight ahead to for my order. It turned out this place is a cash only establishment. Long story short, bring your cash! The ice cream were wonderful and they were all made in house. They have different unique flavor and some seasonal featured flavor. they don’t have any actual tables for you to sit down and enjoy your ice cream. So be ready to eat it on the go. Will be back soon for more ice cream, delicious ice cream!

It’s hard to talk about Princeton without mentioning the Bent Spoon. It’s one of the best ice cream places in the area, vying with Halo Pub and Thomas Sweet. If you want great quality coupled with interesting flavors, this is the place to go. I particularly appreciate their selection of sorbets, since I can’t have dairy products these days. They don’t just have one non-dairy option, but several delicious flavors to choose from. Their raspberry has a great balance of sweet at tart. Their dark chocolate is totally decadent — I even forgot I was eating sorbet and not ice cream! And for St. Patrick’s day, they had a special Irish Potato sorbet — a riff on the candy, not the actual potato, with coconut sorbet and Indonesian cinnamon. I’m not a big sweets person, but I finished every last bite. While this place is a bit pricier than your average ice cream shop, you get two generous scoops for a small and 3 – 4 scoops for a medium. Well worth your money. My main complaint is how tiny their store is, with few seats inside(and no public bathroom). But it’s right on Palmer Square, so there are plenty of benches outside to enjoy your snack. Just lately I went with some out-of-town friends, and we sat shivering outside with our ice cream in 37 degree weather. Was it worth it? Yes sirree.

The Love. The perfection. I can’t come up with other spectacular words that can describe how amazing this place was. No other words needed. This place is a must go place if you are near the Princeton area. This place gets crowded very easily, so make sure to not only bring your cash, but also your patients. Many many ice cream flavors available. Many toppings available. Many different cones available. Pretty much they have everything that you can possibly relate to an ice cream stores. The only downside of this place is that there aren’t many seats available. BUT. Since there is a beautiful princeton campus right next to this place, the downside is become a problem. I only visited this place once, but I can’t wait to visit this place again.

The Bent Spoon is my favorite ice cream shop because of its unique and constantly changing ice cream flavors. I wish the portions were even bigger! But actually getting one scoop of ice cream, ½ and ½ is the perfect amount of ice cream without having a belly ache! I went yesterday and got their chocolate rose and pink rose ice cream flavor. So delicious! Sometimes they have chocolate hazelnut ice cream. I personally never go for chocolate ice cream but their chocolate hazelnut is the best flavor. They also occasionally have lavender marscapone which might be my favorite flavor ever. Usually, I enjoy cookie dough ice cream, but at Bent Spoon I go for the unique and new flavors instead of the regular vanilla or chocolate. That being said they do have some regular flavors but most are different. The line can be extremely long in the summer(you have to sample every flavor) so get there early! I also love their hot chocolates in the winter. Last year they have lavender hot chocolate which was divine. This year they have lavender white chocolate. The white chocolate version is to sweet in my opinion. Hopefully, next year they will bring back the regular lavender hot chocolate!

This place is amazing! If I lived in Princeton I would be here multiple nights a week. It’s a tiny hole in the wall place which feels cozy, except on cold days when you really can’t fit the crowd that knows about this place. You can. Easily start to feel claustrophobic but it’s still worth it. I got the chocolate orange which tastes like those candy oranges you hit on the table and they break apart. It was so rich and smooth it’s really gelato and it feels and tastes high end. My wife, ever the adventurer, got something with lavender which was also very good. It cost us about $ 11 for 2 small cups but it’s so smooth and filling we left with no regrets. If you’re walking around Princeton this place is a MUST.

We went to tour Princeton with our junior high school son and the tour guide said that this was an absolute must visit. After grabbing some food we wandered over to see for ourselves. After tasting about 5 flavors(all imaginative and delicious), I settle on the lavender mascarpone and chocolate Rosemary. Our group also had the coconut, mocha, vanilla bean and blood orange. Everything was awesome and the server helping us was pleasant and accommodating with all our taste test requests. I can now unequivocally say that this was the best ice cream/gelato that I’ve ever had and agree with our tour guide that this is an absolute must visit if you are in Princeton.

This has to be the longest I ever waited for ice cream. We got in line around 9pm on a Sunday and finally got our ice cream around 9:45pm. As we were waiting, the line kept on getting longer and longer. There’s very little seating, but this is a great place for a treat while walking around Princeton. The small is $ 4, but you can get two different flavors. I tried the dark dark chocolate and the hazelnut. The hazelnut was sweet and light. The sweetness might have overpowered the hazelnut flavor. The chocolate deserves those double darks. It was super extra dark, but the bitter sweetness was a good contrast to the hazelnut. They also offered a regular dark chocolate that day for those who wanted something sweeter. We paired the ice cream with one of their chocolate chip cookies. The texture was harder and more crumbly. I couldn’t really taste the cookie because the ice cream was so sweet, but it did its purpose in providing a different texture to the ice cream. I saw on their walls, they sell cookie ice cream sandwiches and croissant ice cream sandwiches. Definitely something to try in the future.
