For whatever reason, when you search for Pei Wei when you’re in the Windsor Green Shopping Center, this listing shows up. The location hasn’t changed and the management hasn’t either to my knowledge, so it’s hard to justify why this Pei Wei location needed a new Unilocal page. The old Unilocal page, with 90 reviews and an average of 2 stars, can still be found through a Google search. Pei Wei is not the place you go to if you want authentic Chinese food. What you’ll get is always going to be slightly too sweet and a little goopy. What I appreciated about Pei Wei in the past, however, is its reliability and better-than-average quality(decent flavor profile for Chinese-American food and nary a morsel of dark meat in sight). When I used to frequent the Pei Wei in Southlake, TX with my family, we always knew the dish we ordered would be the same as the last time we ordered it and the fifth previous time we ordered it. So I can’t compare Pei Wei in general to some of the more fancier pan-Asian establishments I’ve been to. The problem with the Pei Wei in Princeton is that the food is neither as tasty or as consistent as other Pei Weis I’ve been to. The food does come out quick, but the rest of the eating experience has been sub-par. The honey-seared chicken came out lukewarm and was not well-seasoned. The rice was not kept properly warm, let alone freshly cooked, as large clumps of it turned out stale. The pad thai, a risky dish at any pan-Asian establishment, was weighed down with an excessive amount of grease. I’ve really had better food… at other Pei Weis. The atmosphere was actually surprisingly comfortable(a little spare), and it was not crowded when I went there a couple of times for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately there is no separate counter for pick-up orders, so it does make online ordering a little pointless when you have to line up behind several unsure or picky customers. I’m not sure if scrubbing the previous Unilocal page for this Pei Wei was justified or not, but based on my experience, things haven’t changed. If you really want your Chinese food fix, you’re better off buying the(frozen!) mandarin orange chicken from Trader Joe’s next door.

Second time we r here in the last 2 months, and only one staff member is working! Chef takes orders, cooks, serves, cleans up, etc. What has happened to this Pei Wei? Anyone know? He still manages to make good food but you will wait a while.
