Great new place downtown! Or, I’m not sure if it’s new, but I live in Chicago now and don’t get to come to my hometown that often. They have flatbreads, cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, and salads. I believe everything comes with a side. I think the prices are pretty reasonable — ranging from $ 7-$ 11. I can’t remember the actual name of what I got but it was a hot sandwich with breaded eggplant and mozzarella. Basically it was an eggplant parmigiana in a sandwich. It tasted very good and I could tell the ingredients were fresh but I dislike when the skin on the eggplant is tough to eat. I’m not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be made or if that is just a personal issue. I had a lentil soup on the side and that was yummy. It was peppery with a taste of tomato. There is no restroom here, which is odd to me, considering that this is a food establishment. The employees are very nice and the service is super quick. They really follow through on their all natural and organic with their eco-friendly plates and utensils.

Porta Via is another one of those places in Princeton that is bringing new flavor and style to the town. It’s a small deli style place that serves fresh salads, sandwiches and soups that are all delicious. All of the ingredients in their food are high quality and the dishes themselves are done very well. Their salad with walnuts, grilled chicken, apples and dressing is excellent. They also have many delicious side dishes are also of high quality. When you eat the food from Porta Via, it just feels like you’re consuming food that was freshly prepared and not sitting around for two days. It’s no Olives by any stretch, but it’s a great alternative if you’re looking for a fresh sandwich or a salad. There’s also a small amount of seating, which is a plus. Again, I think this place is a great addition to the Princeton food scene. It can be a nice sit down lunch, or a quick to go deli. Either way, you’re guaranteed fresh and tasty food with good service.

Agree with other reviewer, ridiculously overpriced. We did some sort of «design your own» sandwich with just tomatoes and mozzarella for our 3 year old because he wouldn’t eat many of the ingredients and they charged us more than their sandwich with mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, arugula, etc. Also, our kid was being potty trained and they wouldn’t let us use the bathroom and the kid had to pee in the alley in the rain. Some might say that’s our fault for leaving the house with a child at all, but…

Food is decent, but for a specialty Italian sandwich shop they had a disappointing variety. Even the classics,(chicken parm etc), were bland and bready without offering the ingredient quality or complex flavors I would have expected from such an exciting new restaurant

Porta Via is a small cozy restaurant. We had vegetarian pizza for lunch. It was delicious. Good for quick stopover.

Bumped up to 3.5 stars The hot sandwiches appear to be better than the cold sandwiches. My Pollo Griglio was much better than my previous Mamma Flora. Also, recommend the focaccia bread, which was nice and soft and flavorful. The seven grain is really rough and actually scrapes the roof of my mouth. The sandwiches are always really huge, overflowing with stuff inside, and the flavors can occasionally be overwhelming. I think it worked well with the Pollo Griglio, though it was a bit hard to get the entire sandwich in my mouth sometimes. It didn’t work so well with the Mamma Flora /cold sandwiches, especially the jarring addition of the balsamic. The mixed greens are a nice complement to the sandwiches. I like the salads at Osteria Procacini so I’d be interested in trying them here too. They’ve added flatbreads to the menu that look interesting. I’ll have to come back and try!

Ridiculously overpriced. $ 13 and change for an okay salad and Snapple. Don’t think I’ll be going back.

Eh. The heirloom beet salad was good but overpriced. The chicken on top(for an extra $ 3) was dry and over-cooked. Lentil soup was tasty. Decent food, but nothing to write home about.

I heard many great things about this place before it opened this Princeton location, and I’m not at all disappointed. This place is located on Nassau, and next to CVS. A very good location to start. When I first walked in, the place looks clean and new, and it also has a modern/fancy lunch place feel. They serve breakfast, lunch, and also some creamy gelato which is my favorite sweets! For lunch, it goes like this: you order first what bread you would like(Sourdough, Ciabatta, 7 seed grain etc etc), then you order what kinda sandwich you want(the menu will explain it all), and then you can ask for a side(chips, soup, bread, or others!). In total it comes down around $ 10 which is a pretty good deal. They’ll call your name when your order is ready. I ordered a Constantino(roasted pepers, hummus, sundried tomatoes, spring mix, honey turkey) on Ciabatta bread and a side of carrot ginger soup. The proportion is huge so I ended up just eating half of the sandwich! The sandwich overall is a great choice! The turkey was tender, and the ingredients were fresh. The only thing I didn’t like was there was too much flavor going on haha. Especially I feel the roasted peppers overwhelmed all my taste buds and I couldn’t taste anything else(like the hummus and the tomatoes…) But the carrot ginger soup was EXCELLENT! I love ginger, and the spiciness goes very well with the sweetness of carrots. My tummy was very satisfied for the whole day. They also sell appetizing gelatos as dessert/a treat. I haven’t tried it yet, but I will come back again to explore the wonders of their gelato flavors! Since it just opened, it might be a bit crowded, and it looks kind of understaffed. Hopefully they’ll do something about it! They don’t have that much inside seating(4 tiny tables), so be prepared to get a to-go. Good thing is that they accept credit cards!

Very good sandwiches. Had the polpetti(meatballs) and the chicken parm. everything was very fresh, and v. delicious, including the sides. I had the italian meatball soup and the calabrese olives – both were excellent. And the prices range from $ 9 — 11, which is a great deal, especially for Princeton. I am looking forward to trying all the other combos here. must say, the bread on the chicken parm was v sharp. hurt my mouth. probably more my fault than theirs. very, very friendly and quick service, and great food!

Stopped in for lunch and was quickly greeted by the friendly staff. The menu has something for everyone. I ordered the sausage and broccoli rabe pannini with a side of homemade potato salad. Simply fresh and delicious. The bread is brought in daily from a secret bakery. Since no meal is complete without dessert, I had to order the mango gelato. Wow! It was like eating an actual mango. Great food and service means I will be back.
