Say Cheez is a gem when it comes to restaurants in Princeton. The one dish that would probably do this place just is the Mac & Cheese grilled cheese. The place is inexpensive and very worth since the one bit into the grilled cheese you will fall in love. A common side that I always get with the grilled cheese are the Tiger Fries. The fries seasoned with spices along with the tiger sauce is probably one the best combinations. 10⁄10 must visit when you come into town it is located behind Thomas Sweets(since it is a little hard to find). ~ Stanley

Awesome specialty restaurant. I ordered a build my own grilled cheese with Brioche bread, Mozzarella and Muenster cheese, jalapeños, and sun dried tomatoes. There was also a choice of sauce(Ketchup, BBQ, etc.). The selections of bread, cheese, vegetables, and meats were broad and tasteful. The sandwich tasted great and for an affordable price. The fries come with a delicious(and addicting) cheese sauce which has a tangy and smoky flavor to it. The fries were a little dry, but crispy with great seasoning. The service was nice and helpful. They happily answer any questions you may have about the menu. Apart from the build your own grilled cheese, the mac and cheese grilled sandwich caught my eye, and is definitely on my next choice next time I go! If you are in the Princeton area and are craving cheese, I absolutely recommend you visit Say Cheez for a memorable and affordable meal.

Tried this place for the first time today. I ordered the Mac and Cheese grilled cheese with Kimchi Fries. I was disappointed with the sandwich as after couple bites, it made me nauseous. The greasy smell and all. But i loved the Kimchi fries even though it was a bit tad too salty for me. The kimchi fries aren’t really kimchi fries. It’s like regular spiced up french fries with coleslaw and garlic mayo aioli on top! Don’t get me wrong, i loved whatever it was but there def wasn’t any«kimchi» in it. I have had kimchi before so it didn’t taste like kimchi to me. There was def a slight korean flavor to it though! I gave it a 3 based on the sandwich but i will def be coming back and trying something else on the menu hoping it’ll knock my socks off. Lol!

The food is AWESOME! Their soup is the best you’ll find in town — I constantly crave it and am never disappointed. There are some healthy choices so ask the staff about those. They’re all helpful and nice. They fresh cook everything so give yourself some extra time — it’s SO worth it.

Everything about this place is a yes. It seems to be tough to create a place solely based around one food, but say cheez does it so successfully. It’s not like an overwhelming amount of choices, but at the same time there’s a good selection. The menu is simple so you can decide what you want quickly and easily without all the fuss. You pick your bread, then you pick the cheese, then you pick the toppings, yada yada yada. Now for the food: I think they make delicious grilled cheeses. Crispy bread and melty cheese + whatever else your heart desires; my go to is cheddar with pickles. The grilled cheese specials tho… Check em out. Need to try more but I know they’ll be great. Oh and the staff is fantastic and really helpful too.

I went here March12th. Great place for comfort food. Inside is a little tight with probably 2 – 3 chairs. Fortunately there are tables outside and the weather was good. Many good options of sandwiches available. I had the beefy mac which was mac and cheese, brisket and gravy, onions inside texas toast. The brisket was scrumptious and fit perfectly inside the two slices of texas toast. The filling of the sandwich was plenty!!! I also got fries as a side. The fries were ok, crunchy but the sandwich really stood out. I will definitely come again. The workers are cordial and welcoming. The location is on a side street so it might be easy to miss, fortunately I had a groupon deal so now that I know where it’s located, I will come again. There needs to be more unique places like this in New Jersey

The food here is great and the staff is friendly. I got the Princeton with turkey bacon instead of regular and it was really good. I also got a cup of their tomato soup and that was very good as well(I would definitely suggest doing that, or getting their little cup of dipping soup for $ 1). Also, for being a grilled cheese place, I didn’t think there was that much cheese on my sandwich, so you might want to ask for extra cheese if you really like it. Be warned, there are only 2 tables inside(each only seat 2 people), but there are picnic tables outside to use. I walked away feeling full and satisfied, but if you’re a man, you might require a little bit more food than just one little sandwich(I’m a 125 lb. female with a tiny frame). Price wise, if you order multiple things, it can definitely add up, but you’re in Princeton, so that’s to be expected. I would have given it 5 stars if there were more seating inside and if they had a little more room for you to wait for your order: it felt very crammed.

Tried this place for the first time because of a Groupon deal. It was really great and reasonably priced. The menu had so many interesting options, including build your own grilled cheese, that I had a hard time deciding. I had the beefy mac, which was delicious short rib and mac and cheese… on a sandwich. My boyfriend had the Princeton, which was also tasty. The fries were the best; hand cut and perfectly seasoned. If you’re looking for unique cheesy goodness, definitely check this place out!

Food was absolutely amazing. Solid grilled cheese. My husband had the Dagwood and I did a create your one with pork roll, sauteed onions, sour dough bread, and swiss cheese. Both were absolutely delicious. They also have mac and cheese that you can customize as well. I can’t wait to go back and try that out. The staff is also super friendly. The actually place only has two tables so eating in wouldn’t be an option during peek times. Place could use some sprucing up but the food is delicious and staff is friendly so that didn’t really after to me. Check it out!

I had a custom made grilled cheese and it was delicious. Ordered mine with the caramelized onions and it came out crisp and not soggy at all. The disco fries are pretty good too. It’s also open till late which is a huge plus if you’re in the area and need a late night bite.

I love the idea of Say Cheez(and the name) just as much as I love the food. There’s nothing like a spin on a classic! I like to build my own grilled cheese with caramelized onions.

Went here for the first time today — SO good. Super satisfying sandwich. Love that they have vegan options, as well. The place is tiny, fyi, so don’t count on being able to sit down during peak times. I had vegan pepperjack and moz on sourdough with potato chips(!), tomato and spinach. totally hit the spot. also, the woman signed me up for the loyalty program which on your first visit gets you a free soda. can’t go wrong.

Sandwiches were delicious, best grilled cheese I have ever had. Disco fries were good with the brisket but the fries themselves were a bit dry — they could have been a bit more generous with the cheese sauce and gravy.

Great sandwich!!! Pricey, so for that I will not be frequently eating lunch here. But a really good sandwich nonetheless. 4 stars

Love this hole in the wall. Best sandwich in Princeton new jersey, ingredients are super fresh. Everyone that works there cares about the food and the customers. You can create your own sandwiches and they offer vegan options too. Get the tiger fries… Spicy but worth it. Worth the try.

So glad to see a grilled cheese place open its doors in Princeton! The woman behind the counter was really friendly and definitely stuck with me as I decided what exactly it was I wanted during my first visit. I ended up with brisket and gruyère with spinach, pickles, and thousand island on sourdough. All items are freshly prepared(evidently except for onion rings and mozz sticks) on site. Sandwich was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelish! I’ll be back and I’m bringing hungry friends with me next time.

Tried this place out pretty recently. I have to say that the service is pretty great and the food isn’t bad either. The wait time isn’t so bad, but I also got there when no one else was being served. Do note that the location doesn’t have seating inside(only outside and minimal at that). It is a little pricey at $ 8 – 10 a sandwich. Though it isn’t as good as Hoagie Haven and it’s more expensive, this place does taste slightly more healthy? It’s not too greasy and it’s delicious. The option to be creative and make your own is pretty awesome too. They don’t charge extra for most changes. I got the Dagwood with pepper jack — mm goodness. An extra perk is that they open until 2AM and is a lot closer to campus(and engineers!)

INSHORT: A welcome addition to the college culture of downtown Princeton, Say Cheez serves exclusively grilled cheese sandwiches and soups. With local delivery available, convenience is truly what makes the shop valuable. THESTORY: Say Cheez might not be the finest run of restaurants, and most can tell that managerial organization is desperately wanting(the sign of the former Zorba’s is still intact over the storefront), but the variety of options on the menu and the relatively inexpensive prices make it worth a visit or two. It’s most fun imagining your own grilled cheese creation, and during my last visit I ended up ordering pepper jack and swiss on wheat bread with caramelized onions and mushrooms for only $ 4.50. Because of the quality of bread used, however, the cheese to bread ratio is a bit excessive, and I found myself craving more hearty carbs to hold up the gooeyness and oiliness of the cheese. I went inside the restaurant to order with a few friends, and we had to wait about 15 minutes for all of our sandwiches to come out. There seems to be a bit of an issue coordinating timing among the cooks, but I like the specialty nature of the shop, and I hope those kinks are worked out as the restaurant owners gain more experience. Although it doesn’t strike as the cleanest or freshest of places, Say Cheez is plainly perfect for a fun, late night snack.

New grilled cheese place in Princeton(replaced zorbas)! You can create your own grilled cheese, with a ton of options for bread, type of cheese, toppings, meats, and sauces. They still serve some Greek food, calling it «Zorba’s legacy,» and also have a decent breakfast menu. My grilled cheese(on brioche w/muenster & monterey jack w/tomato, bacon, and ham w/thousand island dressing) was delicious, although smaller than I expected for the price(almost $ 8!!). I also tried the fries, which were decent, but I wouldn’t order them again. Love the concept of a grilled cheese place, but I have to give it 3 stars because of the high price & slow service.
