I went here before the remodeling and hated it-flies buzzing around my food and extremely pricy for such underwhelming food. I came back on a whim and was surprised with the décor. It was modern, yet still comfortable and artsy. But what got me was the FOOD! The menu has definitely changed since then(no more hummus, wah) and the prices are definitely still a bit too much, but it’s certainly worth it. My boyfriend got pancakes and, while he was satisfied with his meal, he was a bit sad to hear they no longer had freshly pressed orange juice. My sister got a wrap with fries, and they gave her a whole pile, crisp to perfection! I got the sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel and… I truly have no words. Best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever eaten, hands down. I’ll definitely be going back to Amy’s to try the other things on the menu. It’d be 5 stars if my wallet wasn’t hurting!

Oh Amys what have you done… I’m really bummed to write this review because Amy’s Place has been my safe haven for years. The food was never super fantastic but the atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff was always welcoming. It was the kind of place you could go alone but never feel alone. You could grab a great drink, some breakfast or lunch and just relax at a very artsy home feeling café. Recently they closed down to renovate and change the menu. I was excited because a few years ago the city reeked havoc on all the small cafes in that area forcing them to stop cooking certain foods because the kitchens weren’t up to code(very old buildings will be that way… You can only do so much on a hot plate) before that they used to have awesome breakfast options including their claim to fame«the chubbins» and other really well done items like their awesome omelettes. Naturally I thought they were bringing all of that back to what Amys is supposed to be… I visited Amys a few days after they re-opened to find not only did they not add their old menu items but they took off some of the best things Amy’s had going for them including their chai tea and relaxing atmosphere… I don’t even understand why. All they did was add burgers, metal tables, and dark pained walls. Amys is a certain kind of place, all of the reviews on here talk about two things 1. Their chai and 2. The atmosphere … They took both things away! Just bad business decisions in my eyes. Read your customers reviews before changing everything.

Generally speaking this is a nice little neighborhood diner. They has simple menu without endless options. I like that the place has a bit of cozy feel to it, but some might feel that the place is too small. Service was okay, maybe a little slow; however, wait staff was pleasant and helpful. We got two breakfast sandwiches:(1) sausage, egg and cheese(2) bacon, egg and cheese. Both sandwiches were good, especially because they were on bolo bread(Portuguese bread). We also got side of home fries, which were also pretty good. Their coffee was also pretty decent.

meh. I ordered eggs & sausage. like 20 minutes later; here you go, enjoy! one small peasly sausage patty! every other egg joint in the entire state gives you two ok I asked for onions in my home fries, that’s what I got! giant chunks of raw onion tossed on my potatoes. nice. the entire plate was at best warmish. nothing was actually ‘hot’. you have to go to the counter to get refills on your coffee, great. they told me it was a bottomless cup; everywhere is bottomless cup! juice is in a box, you have to go get it yourself. your choice of juices are: orange. seats & tables are flimsy like little kid birthday party furniture. you pay immediately after ordering, before you’ve gotten any food. the tablet offers precalculated tip suggestions, before you have any opportunity to sample the food and come to some reason-based decision on your tip: very providence! I think amys is somebody’s hobby or something, it felt like it.

I have not eaten here since the place was remodeled. I went in and discovered that it’s changed direction — no longer a sunny friendly café but more a hot dog stand. Cold color, rigid furniture, no art, plenty of plastic squirty ketchup bottles though. This will probably be good for people strolling on Wickenden in the warm weather. Nothing wrong with filling a niche, but very sad to see the change. The only place that comes close to the old Amy’s is Classic Café and that’s because the waitresses are so nice.

My wife and I really like Amy’s and used to go there fairly often– her walnut yogurt french toast is awesome I gotta tell you though I was so glad I went there on 1⁄10 and they were closed for renovations, something that was wayyyyy over do. We actually stopped going there because the dirty, Woodstock theme was getting real old. Can the Woodstock look Amy and just make it cool.

Really cute place for brunch. I got the smoked salmon omelette and it came with slices of oranges and pomegranate seeds. Very small and cozy inside and the food comes pretty quickly. You pay before you eat, which is nice and you don’t have to worry about the check afterwards. Great little spot on Wickenden. Not terribly expensive for college students.

The food might not be perfect, but the atmosphere here seriously soothes the soul. I feel like I’m sitting in someone’s home and eating breakfast that they just made for me. When you’re that cozy, it doesn’t really matter if the eggs are a little greasy or what have you. I’ve been on a mission to sample every bacon egg and cheese in the Providence area. This version doesn’t quite match up to the gooey deliciousness of BGO, but it’s solid nonetheless. I went for a bolo(Portuguese roll – kind of like an English muffin with a little more sweetness to it) instead of a bagel and was not disappointed, although if I were trying to munch away a hangover I would opt for the more filling bagel. Skip the coffee – as others have said, it’s brutal. In case you still dare to try it, there are free refills on a large($ 2). They also serve a wide array of specialty drinks(seasonal special: eggnog!) so that might be a better call. Overall, Amy’s Place is a charming and inexpensive place for breakfast. I will definitely be back the next time I need a hug in the form of a meal!

Amy’s Place is the most adorable brunch spot in Providence! When I went to Brown, I would always go out here when relatives visited me, or just with friends when we wanted a nice breakfast. I still go back here when I visit Providence. The restaurant feels like a vintage kitchen; you feel immediately at home. There are printed fabric table cloths that are not identical, tables are all different shapes and local artwork hangs on the wall. You can see into the kitchen, so you can tell how fresh the food is. There is something quaint and cute about the whole space. There’s also a nice outdoor patio that is open in the summer. The food is delicious! The omelettes are large, and you can use one of the menu’s suggestions or build your own. I love to get an omelette with spinach, onion and mushrooms. The home fries are delicious! They are cut fresh from real potatoes and seasoned expertly. The omelettes also come with a bit of fruit. The smoothies are fantastic as well, especially the Vegan Heaven and Whaddaberry. The staff is friendly and warm. They are also incredibly accommodating of allergies, and can make the meal dairy-free upon request. There’s gluten-free bread available, too. Since Amy’s Place has a small kitchen, watch out going on popular weekends(such as graduation and parent’s weekend at Brown/RISD), because the kitchen can get very backed up on these high customer volume occasions. Going at off hours(a little later, around noon, or earlier, around 8 or 9 am) can avoid the rush on these weekends. Fantastic omelettes, smoothies, and cozy atmosphere: all in all, my favorite brunch spot!

Came here with my roommate yesterday. After one bite we determined that the audacity of this place to make the food as delicious as they did was selfish and rude. To make it mouth watering good, to have the chai created in such soothing, warm, perfection, to have us savor every bite and make us want to keep coming back for more is absurd. In all seriousness, we found this place using Unilocal and had doubts when we came in. First we received our chai, my first ever, and I will not ever go back to coffee. It took a lot of restraint not to finish our chai before our food arrived. It was so warm and smooth and rich. The food… amazing!!! I devoured many eggs and sausage. My pancakes were absolutely delightful, soft, fluffy. We had to take the rest home. The staff were friendly as well and the guy at the register was patient and kind, especially with dealing with my indecisive roommate. I’m moving to Providence next month and have already decided this will be my go to spot.

Great little place to grab a delicious and healthy breakfast! It’s right off the walking path from India Point and serves some great food! I always make-shift an egg white and dry toast breakfast when I go out and they had it as an option in the menu(plus fruit!). They even have a great menu of smoothie options. Definitely a go for any breakfast lover.

This is my favorite place to go in providence for breakfast. The staff is always very friendly and helpful if you have any questions. The food is always solid and delicious. The coffee is fantastic. They have a beautiful outdoor patio where you can eat your food. It’s just a great atmosphere overall!

I am a really big fan of Amy’s Place! This is a really yummy and casual place to go for breakfast or brunch. When it is nice out, it’s really great to sit outside! The food is good and tastes fresh, but the smoothies are amazing! I come here often after an early morning run to get a drink or a small bite to eat. Coming here during the warm spring/summer months is just lovely.

One of the few times that Unilocal actually steered me wrong. I was looking to grab brunch in Providence and remembered passing Amy’s Place on my way to the Duck & Bunny. I looked up Amy’s on Unilocal and the reviews were generally good, so I decided to take a chance. I walked into the Wickenden store front and immediately perceived it to be a divey greasy spoon joint. Nothing wrong with that. While they have tables for seating, all ordering needs to take place at the front counter. The seating was rather tight and each table we selected had the same unbalanced tilting problem. I finally had to jam a folded napkin under one leg to eliminate the annoying wobble. I could see through the rear door that there was also outdoor seating in back. The service at Amy’s was as bare-bones as the décor. We ordered orange juice and it never came to the table. When I inquired to the waitress, she informed me that OJ was kept in the cooler along the wall behind a couple sitting at a small table. I had to ask them to move to collect my juice. Very bad system! The food took nearly 40 minutes to arrive at our table which was surprising given that the restaurant wasn’t even packed. I ordered Amy’s French Toast. When it came, I was less than impressed. It was two slices of thin white bread dipped in batter(with little seasoning) and cooked on a griddle. They squirted some Reddi Whip on top and gave me a squeeze bottle of fake syrup. Needless to say, my dining experience was, at best, underwhelming. Had I known what I was in for, my tipping decision(which was forced on my at the time of my order BEFORE I had eaten) would have been decidedly different.

The food is simple, the coffee stinks, but Amy’s Place has been one of my favorite places since I moved to Providence to grab a cozy breakfast that doesn’t boast itself as something else. That’s why I’d probably never call this a ‘brunch’ spot — yeah, you can get breakfast way past ‘breakfast’ hours but when I think of brunch I think of bloody marys and menu items with cute names. At least that’s what brunch has become in Providence and elsewhere. Amy’s is more like, you want scrambled eggs, it will be called ‘2 Eggs Any Style” on the menu. It’s a cross over between a diner and your dorm kitchen, if your mom was there making eggs in your room. I hope I nailed their vibe. I like that about them. As I said, I like to just get the simple eggs there because their scramble is spot on and it comes with home fries and toast for a reasonable price. Their smoothies are pretty good — I’m not a smoothie person, but I like that there are options available for those who don’t like a dairy overload. A few tips: It looks like Amy’s takes card now but when I was going, they didn’t. They don’t take ‘table tips’ but rather they have a tip jar so I like to have a few bills on me anyway to contribute. Amy’s fills up pretty quick so I would definitely think about what you want beforehand or scope out a table pronto. Luckily, for warmer weather, there’s a back patio which is actually really nice, if you’re looking to get away from the craziness that is sitting next to the kitchen or the shop strollers of Wickenden. Also, if you’re a self-proclaimed coffee snob, do yourself a favor and get coffee beforehand. The coffee is really weak but luckily there’s Coffee Exchange right across the street. Also, there is a bathroom but it’s awkwardly placed aside the upstairs hallway that leads to outside and the kitchen. You feel like you’re hovering in a broom closet. But when you gotta go, you gotta go. Also, no wifi but I think that’s a good thing, due to its limited seating. That’s another thing you can pop into Coffee Exchange for.

You walk in pick your own seat, look at the menu, then go back up to the counter to order and pay(credit/debit using Square reader on IPad) then you sit down and they bring the food out to you. I got the French toast(without whipped cream and strawberries because I like just french toast.) The French toast was very plain. It said it was soaked in a sweet mixture but I found my self pouring more and more Syrup on my plate. The next time I went back I ordered strawberry pancakes. They were not my favorite either because they strawberries tasted off. BUT my boyfriend and I have discovered that one girl there makes the best bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel. We went back the next day for another one. The staff is really nice too!

Amy’s Place has always played second fiddle to Brickway for me when it comes to a brunch spot on Wickenden. The food is decent, but not worth the price in my opinion – you find yourself shelling out over $ 10 for an omelette and(weak) coffee. Furthermore, their brunch selection is a lot more limited than other options in Providence – heck, other options on the hill. If you get over the price point and the number of offerings, you’re likely to score a table here without a ridiculous wait on weekends(Brickway is more popular, but it is also larger). Service is also swell. Plus, if you’re lucky, you can score wifi from Coffee Exchange across the street.

Sunday’s not complete without brunch. I love how they serve diner breakfast food in a laid back café setting. It’s pretty hip they way it is. Very college friendly. Service is fast and you just order at the cashier whenever you’re ready. I had the chunky monkey pancakes and whuddaberry smoothie. The chunky monkey pancakes were amazing, it was a combination of nuts, chocolate chip, and banana. Pancakes were fluffy and buttery. The whuddaberry smoothie was quite filling. They have a new one called green dream which my friend got, it looked pretty promising. The smoothies are kind of pricey compared to how much you pay for food. It’s almost the same.

Two stars for the food, four stars for the service. If you become a regular I can see you really enjoying this place. However, becoming a regular requires a dedication that I can’t myself committing to for the quality of the food. Nothing was bad per se, generous veggies in my omelette, but then it was sort of ruined by overly sweet jarred salsa. The menu says no sausage or ham, but then I heard the hostess ask a customer after me if he wanted sausage or ham. Sketchy. Tea was really good and served in a proper mug. Service was overly hipstery but super friendly.
