I used to really like bar Louie, but things seem to have changed a lot. The atmosphere isn’t my style, which is a personal preference obviously, but the service is hit or miss 9⁄10 times. We go here for drinks and late night food sometimes because their kitchen is open late, but we usually wait forever to be acknowledged and the drinks are over priced. The the other night we went in around 12 and got a quick bite and a round of drinks and the bartender came to your table to wait on us. She was so sweet. I think her name was Jessica? We really appreciated the extra effort. It made me willing to try bar Louie again

I hadn’t been here in years but I was in the area and gave it another try. It was everything Unilocal reviewers promised! The PC game was at 6:30 on a Tuesday so it was the prefect time for their $ 1 burger night! Right? Wrong! As many reviewers stated, it’s seat yourself and maybe we’ll come wait on you eventually. Hate when tables that arrive after you are waited on first. That happend. The dollar burgers were on last weeks buns. Toppings were ok. The menu said«Add fries for a little more!» It must have been $ 6 or $ 7 more haha. Nothing like deceptive advertising! I almost asked but then I thought it can’t be more than 3 or 4 bucks. I work in marketing at a financial institution and I would love to work here instead. There are so many obvious changes that need to be made. Guess they’ll continue to coast on great locations for now… too bad, it has potential.

Dollar burger Tuesday’s — not bad. My tomato, which was clearly the end of a tomato(diameter of a golf ball, thin, and mushy) wasn’t worth the extra $.50. Bacon, cheese, onions, BBQ sauce seem to be the way to go(processed and grilled foods are hard to mess up). Don’t waste your time on anything fresh. We also split fries and tater tots, but both were served to us cold. Props to the bros who built a PBR can pyramid at the table next to us. I was waiting for their 12 layer pyramid to topple over, but it never did. 3 stars because I want a normal tomato on my burger, but a dollar burger is a dollar burger.

The $ 1 burger on Tuesdays really can’t be beat. Extra for toppings, but still. To get the deal, you need to purchase a drink, but they also offer PBR for $ 1. No matter what you choose to get on your burger, I recommend getting tater tots to share and extra pesto mayo on the side. I’m not sure what’s in the sauce, but I want to put it on everything. Feels like a sports bar because it is! Can be loud and service can be slow, but that’s to be expected. Come in with adjusted expectations and you’ll be fine. We’ve gone on a few occasions, and it usually plays out to be less than $ 5 – 6 a person including tax and tip. Where else can you get that kind of deal for a huge burger with your choice of fixin’s, tater tots, and a beer ??

Went here after work one night to meet up with my boyfriend. A bunch of people he works with went here to have drinks for the holidays. Service at the bar was beyond bad. It was 5PM in the evening and not many people eating at tables or at the bar yet. Just the group of about 15 we were with and maybe 3 tables. You would think service would be great as they werent busy. There were 3 people behind the bar and you had to try and get their attention to order a drink. Not one of the bar tenders came over to ask«do you want another drink?». Afterwards my boyfriend told me when he ordered his first drink the bartender wasnt friendly and acted like he was bothering her to ask for a drink. Like really… thats your job as a bartender. I used to be a bartender and always over tip but in this case I didnt leave a tip. We also had to track down someone to put in a food order. When the food came out it was another ordeal to get silverware. We also had a bad experience here before at lunch. About 5 months ago we went for lunch. I ordered a salad and they brought me out the wrong salad. I told the waitress and she took it away and brought out the correct salad and it was half the size of the other one. It also had too much dressing I thought it was soup. Two bad experiences here so wont go back.

To preface, I was super excited to try Bar Louie, as I had never been before. I went in with an open mind and an empty belly. Unfortunately, it just did not prove to be worth the $ 8 parking(scam). We were one of 3 tables in the whole restaurant, so I assumed service would be fast. Unfortunately, our server was painfully slow-20 minutes to get a drink. After that, it felt like we were being avoided and simply not cared for. It took 25 minutes between clearing out plates to bring out the requested piece of chocolate cake for a friends birthday. She did not offer the rest of us dessert, and abandoned us once again. Overall, we sat down at 6:30, and didn’t leave until 9:30. For a Sunday night meal with almost nobody in the establishment, that is appalling. Food was mediocre and overpriced at that. I would not recommend this skull numbing place to anyone I care about.

Well Unilocal,if you must ask, what keeps me coming back is nothing more than the dollar burger, Pabst Blue Regret Tuesdays. If you see me in here any other night of the week run, because that is most certainly my evil twin Nayr — and he can sure drag on a monotone conversation about the finer spices found in Kennedy Plaza urban foraging. I used to come to this annoyingly pay-gated establishment before I lived in Providence, likely due to naivety and recovering brain cells from too much Burnette’s unflavored vodka in college. The food is up in your 2 – 3 $$$ range and the drinks cost more than the parking(lot parking costs a signed contract with the devil and a chunk of your mortgage). I digress. If you do come on Tuesdays, or any day of the week rather, cram your party at the bar. The table service is mind-numbingly slow. I mean I’m talking 15 minutes to get a can of PBR with tables still vacant in my server’s section. 2 burgers and two cans of beer have turned into an hour and a half game of «suppress the stomach gurgle» on more than one occasion. Not to mention the all-too-frequent aura of «screw this job» projected from a combination of the server’s lack-thereof smile and overall demeanor. Bar service however is just peachy. All around another chain trying to be more for more $$. At least the one in Foxboro overlooks the stadium and has a roof.

I went on a date with my wife for the $ 1 burger special. Just be aware your burger will be $ 2 – 3 with toppings. You also have to buy a drink to get the deal. Environment is classy sports bar. With that said, the menu is somewhat more upscale bar food and the price to me isn’t worth the type of food you get. This place is worth it for a date on the Tuesday burger night.

I selected to go here because it was open late night on a Sunday. I met a friend for drinks, sat outside by the fire which was nice. Had a mango margarita which was delicious, no food. Service was sporadic even though place as fairly empty. Asked for check to pay and waitress never came back to get credit card so paid cash and left.

This is the only place that we found that serves late night food and we were incredibly thankful, that alone gave them four stars. It just puzzles me why no other establishment in the center of Providence(none that we could find anyway) serves food late. Bar Louie is nestled ever so gently in a plaza down off the road, almost off the beaten path and if we didn’t ask multiple people where it was we wouldn’t have been able to find it. Walking in the atmosphere was certainly welcoming, great bar in the middle of the restaurant with plenty of seating, the baristas were incredibly friendly at 1:30 in the morning and asked us what we did all night as we were in Providence for a bachelor party. I can’t recall what I had oddly enough, some sort of chicken sandwich I believe, a friend had flat bread… What is with Providence and their flatbreads, they are advertised so predominantly on the menus everywhere you go right on the front page. Anyway I digress, all the meals were delicious, maybe I had poutine? Doe you guys serve poutine or am I getting confused with someplace else? It was a long night… Anyway, Bar Louie is great, the prices were very reasonable, the food was great, friendly service at 1:30 in the morning, I will stop in again if I am there regardless of the time. Nice Job! Mr. F

Another Lame Chain Glad to see the cumulative 2 ½ stars for reviews. Just when I thought the Foxborough location couldn’t be more mediocre, they open a new place in PVD. Somehow they have found a way to make an even lamer place. I still don’t know why people go to these crappy chain themed restaurants??? The only good reviews I see is for $ 1 burger night, that tells you something. The place is always busy because for some reason people have been brain washed to think this place is cool, when really they are getting dolled up frozen food and plastic dimly lit atmosphere. My take: If you want to go and wait for 20 minutes to overpay for measured crappy specialty drinks and be forced to believe that your being served homemade food that is really mediocre frozen crap, than this is your place. Just take a look at the pictures that people have posted, does that food look good? Unless I have blurry eyes, I have to say no. I am usually open minded about restaurants, but this place is just lame. Thanks

Delicious Martinis! Awesome music! Great ambiance! Oh and the only place I found open with food right now. This is my first time to set foot in this city and I was starving. Everything looks delicious! Eat Drink Be Happy is their mantra. Who would not just love a place like that!!!

Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy coming to Bar Louie and I’ve never had a bad experience, but nothing is really pushing me to go back. Except their Bloody Mary’s. They make amazing Bloody Mary’s. I’ve been to Bar Louie during all of the times on the bar/restaurant spectrum. I’ve been for quiet lunches, busy dinner time, and packed Saturday nights until 1AM. I enjoy the food and the drinks have always been great(except for one awful sangria special that tasted like juice). I am not into the going out thing anymore, but when I went late on a Saturday night it was crowded, as expected, and difficult to get drinks from the seemingly pissed off bartender. My friends and I basically stood around and drank. It was perfectly average. I like the atmosphere. It’s not too fancy but not too casual. What sucks is the parking, which is expected at any Downcity restaurant or bar. The place in general isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t demand a friend try it out. I’d eventually like to go to the Foxboro location during warmer months and sit on the rooftop deck, but Providence is just OK in my book.

I’m eating the voodoo chicken. One piece of burnt dry chicken and some cheap packaged kilbasa and white rice that wasn’t cooked right. Service is okay. I don’t know it’s a chain but come on. The food is garbage. I’m so sorry to say this but I don’t want to lie.

Wow glad I didn’t read the reviews before we went here or I may have not gone. Maybe because it’s a quiet night and not get busy but our experience was a pleasant one. Shannon was our server and she had someone training with her. We were greeted promptly And told to sit wherever we want. We had nonalcoholic drinks of watermelon fizz and blueberry lemonade. They were good and not too sweet. My friend had a side salad and it was huge. We both had buffalo blue cheese burgers and they were ok. Not fabulous but ok. I eat a lot of burgers and I think it was just maybe a cheaper ground beef than im used to. The best part is the tater tots. They are covered in a spicy queso sauce with jalepenos and bacon and gardienire. It is well worth it to go just for the tots ! I’m surprised by the service complaints because we had a great experience. I will definetly like to go again and try something new. One caveat parking is ridiculously expensive. I had my Ticket validated and it was still 11 $ for an hour and a half.

Service was ok. Didn’t get checked up on enough. It wasn’t overly crowded and anytime we talked to one of the female bartenders to order she seemed annoyed. Prices are really decent. Décor is modern. The drinks were good and they have large amount of beers on tap. We ordered the chicken nachos and bruschetta pomodoro. They were really good(I’m sensitive to certain food so the nachos were too spicy for me but my friends loved them.) But it took too long for the apps to come out.
