I had Jeremy cut my hair. He has a great sense of humor and he’s talented with a pair of scissors. He has given my hair a new breath of life. It no longer has that simply bored look to it.

Love this place. Always a positive experience, love my hair after and their products are so good for you. I come from NH to visit and always try to squeeze in an appointment with them if I can!

I had a disgusting haircut and highlight experience with shannalee for first visit at flipp salon, I asked for ash light blonde highlights on whole of my hair, but she didn’t hear and did anything she wants, my hair was long and layer and I want to cut each layer around 2″ but she hold of my hair together on back and cut half of my hair quickly, I hate to think that I have wasted all this money for nothing, I paid for full foil hair but I didn’t have anything on my back hair !! she was very unfriendly!!!

So far so good! Melissa did a wonderful job and was speedy. The total wasn’t as high as some, $ 60 total after 20% tip. It was worth it to have someone do a good job and provide a relaxing experience. I’ll update after my second appointment.

On the day of the appointment I was actually 10 mins late! The receptionist called me 5 mins into the appointment and asked if I was on my way and at this point I was only 2⁄3 blocks away. Unfortunately when I arrived I had no idea they didn’t have a parking lot. The parking lot behind the salon was actually for local residents, so I had to park down the street and walk to the salon. When I arrived I was quite nervous and embarrassed to have come in so late! But soon enough I met with Shannalee. She was quick to sit me down and ask about the ombré I wanted. I showed her a photo of an ombré and although she disagreed and even quoted Khloe Kardashian, she said it was not possible to get it ashy blonde in one sitting.(For reference, prior to my appointment, my hair was really dark brown/black, thick, straight, up to my collar bone, and virgin hair.) This was understandable, I thought. Shannalee even suggested for me to get a cut regardless of me getting a fresh hair chop a couple days prior because of the possible damage the ombré might have to my ends. Fast forward even later to my coloring process. Despite me being in the salon and really liking the color, once I got a closer look at home I was a tad unimpressed. The view is very different when you’re sitting in a very lit salon, sitting a couple feet away from the mirror VS. getting a close up in your very own bathroom. The color was something that could be eventually colored to my desired color(ashy blonde) but the technique of the ombré was somewhat stripy. I felt like my hair did not have the fluidity or gradient effect of typically ombré’d hair. Also the bottom of my hair still has some dark pieces in it. Maybe this was suppose to be intended for the evolution of my ombré since my hair is so dark but she also said little to nothing to me while in the chair(aside from the brief talk we had about what I wanted to do with my hair) so either way I wouldn’t know. She did little to no explaining about the process and didn’t tell me when it was appropriate to get my hair done again. She did not make me feel super comfortable nor did I get the impression that she even wanted to do my hair. The ‘cut’ she gave me was also no more than 4⁄5 snips at my hair. In the end she charged me for an ombré with a ‘partial’ haircut but still nearly the price of the combo she charges anyways(courtesy of ) with only $ 5 off for a regular priced haircut! A partial haircut and regular haircut only being a $ 5 difference was … interesting to me!!? All in all, I’m rating it a 2⁄5 because«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» truly sums up my hair experience there.

My favorite salon! I’ve been seeing Mariska at Flipp for about two years now, and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. It’s always easy to book appointments, online or over the phone, and Mariska is always accommodating with my crazy schedule. The salon is clean, bright, and has such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. I never have to wait long and the complimentary tea or coffee is great. I first came to Flipp with what I thought was a hopeless haircut. I had been regularly bleaching and coloring my hair and was trying to grow it out, but pretty much everything past my ears was destroyed. I got it cut elsewhere, but it was uneven, chunky, and very unflattering. Mariska somehow worked magic with my depressing locks, and I came out looking and feeling awesome! I’ve been going to Flipp ever since. Since I’m vegan, I’m also very specific about which products I use. So many of the shampoos and treatments Flipp offers are vegan-friendly. I’ve gotten regular trims and tried out some colors, and through it all Mariska has been wonderful. She talks with me about what I’m looking to get and makes it happen, even if my ideas are vague. Honestly, the best. Very highly recommend Flipp Salon, especially Mariska! :)

Curly ladies and gents: Dovon is EVERYTHING. You don’t need a Deva Cut — you just need Dovon. Thanks to other reviews here, I made an appointment with Dovon to clean up the funky cutting history on my 3b, thick, color-treated hair. My hair was big, square, and clumpy when I came in. I wasn’t envisioning a transformation or anything major, but I knew it was time for a cut. Dovon ***completely*** blew me away. I’m not kidding — this is the best haircut I have EVER had. I can see my curls! They are lively! They are sitting properly and not sticking out! My hair is not shaped like a circle or a square! The length and the layers are in sync! If you need further proof, Dovon said the magic words: every head of curls is unique and therefore requires an individualized approach. She cuts the hair wet, but don’t freak out — you are in expert hands. Go, be amazed. THANKYOU, Dovon!

Some of us know that curly hair cuts are always terrifying at a new salon. I read around on Unilocal and found great reviews for Dovon. She is absolutely wonderful at cutting curly hair and has some amazing techniques that she learned at New York salons. A hair cut from shampoo to styling takes only 45 minutes, and the haircuts I’ve gotten from her are some of the best I’ve ever gotten. Dovon knows how to frame a face and make curls happy!

I am so so happy that I found this salon! I am used to getting my hair cut at Asian salons in New York or Philadelphia. So, I was pretty hesitant to get my hair cut in Providence. However, my mane just had to be tamed. This salon has a really funky vibe(vibrant robins egg walls. Trees with curlers hanging). Immediately was welcomed by the receptionist who brought me a beverage. Mariska was ready for me. We went over the hair style I wanted. Shampoo job was decent. I’m used to a longer more aggressive wash. Mariska was very meticulous with my hair. She used multiple types of scissors and sheers. She was very friendly and talented. I was extremely impressed with her attention to detail. She also gave me her number so I could contact her whenever. I ask her all my questions about hair care, styling products, heated tools, etc. This will be my go to hair salon for now on.

After bouncing around for years trying to get a good haircut in Providence, I found Flipp and have been getting GREAT haircuts ever since. I see Shannalee and I just love her! Shannalee has great attention to detail and my cuts/colors are always consistently excellent. I’m thrilled with my experiences at Flipp and with Shannalee, in particular.

Let me start by saying I am not one to write reviews, but I must! I have naturally wavy/curly hair and have always struggled to find a hair dresser who knows how to deal with its craziness. Well let me tell you, Flipp is amazing! Wonderful atmosphere with lovely and friendly stylists. Mariska was incredible. She is so sweet, cared about what I was saying, and did an AMAZING job! She has lots of knowledge about products, styling, and cuts. I have found my new stylist! I will also be going back to get my eyebrows waxed-they use all natural products, so no harsh chemicals on my face(which I usually have a reaction to). Definitely recommend!

I am a very picky girl when it comes to choosing a hair salon. One of my best friends is a stylist and she took care of my hair when I lived in NYC. When I moved to RI and she moved to GA, I wasn’t sure what I would do. After reading the great reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give Flipp a try. That was two years ago and I’ve been a loyal customer of Shannalee’s ever since. She does a great job on my hair plus she’s fun to talk to. The salon is really cute and the prices are reasonable too!

Every few years, I venture off to a new salon to give my look a fun and fresh update. After some research, I decided to go to Flipp and was lucky enough to get Mariska as my stylist. First off, the location of the salon is adorable and very convenient in the east side of Providence. Mariska is ABSOLUTELY awesome. I was trying a bayalage for the first time and even though I could not pronounce that darn thing, she knew exactly what I was talking about and did an incredible job. She was diligent, patient, and was quite the perfectionist — which is fantastic for a stylist to be. I’ve been going back to her for the last few months and each visit is as awesome as the previous. I also love their online appointment booking system! It’s incredibly simple and I get reminders on when my appointment is coming up. Such basic service but still a great thing to have at my disposal. :) On top of this, Mariska even lets me tect her directly if there is anything I need done on the fly or if I have to have a free afternoon to get a quick trim or color. Highly recommend Flipp to anyone and deifnitely ask for Mariska, she’s AWESOME.

Mariska is great at working with thin hair. My first time there was yesterday 7÷15÷15 with Mariska. The appointment was for my daughter with extremely thin hair. Mariska gave her a great cut making her hair look fuller. She also took alot of time to talk to me about what I should and shouldn’t be doing to care for thin/thinning hair. I highly recommend Mariska because she knows what she’s doing and you can tell she genuinely cares about educating people.

What a great experience! I came in to see Mariska last week hoping for a new look for summer — she more than delivered. I got a balayage/ombré and it looks amazing; I’ve gotten so many compliments and I absolutely love it. Flipp has a great atmosphere and everyone there was incredibly welcoming and friendly. I am so glad I found this place(and Mariska), I will definitely be back.

After an initial bad haircut in Providence, I made sure to do some research before getting another cut. Flipp comes highly recommended. I had to call into make an appointment. They do not really do walkins. The salon is tucked around a corner off Benefit. I had no trouble finding parking. Flipp is definitely a place that tries really hard to be cool and hipster. Consequently, it came off a bit snobby. However, Melissa, my stylist, was nice and helpful. And she gave me a great cut! I thought I had finally found a salon in Providence. But about a month later, I came back top get my bangs trimmed, as Melissa stated that she did this for free for customers. Well, she cut them alright… More like chopped them. The care in cutting that was there for the first cut was absent when she trimmed my bangs. They were not straight and much too short. And she wasn’t so pleasant. Onward goes the search for a Providence salon.

Here goes… this is going to be a long one, so strap on your seat-belts and get ready for the ride. I used to have a hairdresser friend who was the first person to touch my hair in years, like 10+ years. When I met my friend, my hair was down to my butt and after some convincing, I decided to make the decision to cut it. So my hair was taken up about 6 inches to my chest area. A few months later, it was cut to my chin in a very cute angled bob look. Everyone I knew was in shock because they never thought they’d see the day that my long luscious locks would be gone. That was 5 years ago. Since then, I’ve been letting my hair grow and grow. My hair is thick and curly and annoying; so all I would really ever do on a daily basis is throw it up into a bun or in a pony. How boring. I started looking through old pictures of me with short hair and going online to look at hairstyles and I finally made the decision that I wanted to go back to the short style and donate my hair to Locks of Love. I didn’t know where to begin with finding a new stylist because my friend doesn’t’ do hair anymore. I asked around to other friends, but wasn’t really happy with what I was hearing. Then I turned to the next best option, Unilocal.Unilocal put me in touch with Flipp Salon and after reading all of the stellar reviews, I said to myself«this is the place I need to go.» I called on a Friday and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day at 1:30 p.m. with Davon. I explained to the receptionist that I have very long hair that I’m attached to and I need someone who is going to coddle me and really listen and understand to what I want in my new do’. I arrived at Flipp at 1:30 and met with Davon. I showed her a couple of pictures and explained to her exactly what I wanted. She was WONDERFUL! Not only did we have great conversation for the 2 hours I was in the chair, she really truly listened to exactly what I wanted done. I mean, come on… this is a drastic change for anyone. When all was said and done, she cut off 19 inches which I took home with me and will be mailing to Locks of Love on Monday. I would highly suggest Davon to anyone looking for a sweet, honest and talented hair stylist. She asked me my opinions on how it was looking and if I wanted anything tweaked, instead of just having a go at it and hoping I would like it. She gave me the choppy, edgy and cute angled bob that I was looking for. Well, you know what… I LOVE it. I love my new hair and I will be a client of Davon’s for as long as she is doing hair in the PVD area.
