Went there for dinner the other day and was super pleased. The staff was friendly and the food was great. Pretty easy to find street parking nearby as well… I’d recommend this for anyways in the area!

One of the best brunch spots in Providence. Prepare for the wait though!

I LOVE this place. Bartenders and waitstaff are super chill and cool. The rotating cocktails are fun and usually potent. Great beer list and a few wines(which aren’t their specialty.) The food menu is great. I almost always opt for the black bean burger and a basket of fries. But recently had a regular burger with mushroom and hoisen sauce and their kewpie mayo and it was fantastic. If you need to use the bathroom, it may be the best bathroom you have ever been in… Just sayin. I can’t rave enough about Julian’s. If you are near here, go go go.

I get it, it’s a neighborhood spot with a funky vibe. Sounds right up my alley. However, I’ve been consistently underwhelmed by their food and the value of it. It usually has to do with the fact that the homemade condiments involve an extra charge, or maybe that the veggie burger patty is kind of limp and soppy. Or maybe when I was excited about a special beer night that turned out to not have any specialness involved(same price as any other night). Or maybe a cool sounding dish ended up being a $ 20+ unartful pile of cabbage, corn beef, carrots and glop of mustard. There are many other places in the west side I would rather dine. I know I am getting all personal and sensitive now, but that’s just how I approach my food I guess. :)

Appetizers for dinner. Who needs a full dinner when you can stuff your face with fried pickles, naan pizza, and amazing French fries? Not this girl. They have great salads when you don’t feel like being a glutton and the black bean burger is a staple. The beer list is very solid. I’ve never been for brunch since is always slammed! Must be s good sign though right?

While I am giving this a 3 star, honestly, I will not be going back in comparison to all the other wonderful and amazing alternative places to eat in providence. This place is mentioned often in providence, right behind duck and bunny and Nicks(down the street from Julians) so we figured it would be in the 4 star range. We took two guests who were in visiting. The wait was 1 hour 15 min about 11:30a.m. on a Sunday. We waited, enjoyed chit chatting, observing the architecture near by and purchased drinks which you can sip outside while you wait. If it’s cold or raining, there really is no where to stand indoors. Our service was excellent once inside — we had a young female who was really polite and seemed on point with her knowledge. Our table ordered the french toast w/bananas, the Falafel wrap w/friend onion rings, duck confetti with poached eggs, a breakfast omelet w/side potatoes and side salad. Coming out, the food looked great. However, that’s where the big smiles slowly turned to «meh» frowns. There were four of us foodies at the table and when we go somewhere great to eat, we often make«yum» or «omg» noises, share our food, comment on what we’re eating etc. While no one shouted at the table, «what?! this kinda stinks,» there were none of the above comments either. I had the french toast(3⁄5) — I was excited to see the thick slices of french toast but the bread was dry enough I actually had a hard time cutting it with my knife ??? Either the bread was a little stale before cooking it or the chef didn’t let it sit long enough in the batter. Either way, there really wasn’t much flavor there. My partner got the Falafel wrap and onion rings(2⁄5). She said there was just no flavor, it was very bland. The onion rings, while appear yummy and fluffy tasted so much of oil, you really didn’t get a whole lot of onion in your mouth. It tasted as though they probably fry everything in the same oil, including the Falafel as it seemed to contain the same oily flavor as the onion rings. She left half her plate which NEVER happens. The duck confetti(3.5 or 4 — 5). For this dish, if you were to try it elsewhere, they probably didn’t a pretty decent job actually. The eggs, potatoes were lack luster and the salad looked like just greens in a bowl with some olive oil and balsamic and that’s just about it. REALLY wanted to like this place but overall, for all the reviews and long wait, very disappointed. Note, we all suffered from acid reflux and gas that evening. If I ever considered going back, it would honestly be for a side eat and probably their drinks. Drinks all looked great. Had a mimosa and really enjoyed. Just not meals here again.

I have never not enjoyed Julian’s. I can’t say I’ve ever been wowed by it either. The service is always slow. The food, basically good. It covers a wide variety of palettes. But it’s always a crowd pleaser and a go to when out with indecisive groups.

Three stars for an overall experience. Here’s the breakdown: 3 stars for the food 5 stars for the service 2 stars for the price The hubby and I went out for breakfast, and for 1 coffee, 1 water, a bowl of oatmeal with fruit and syrup, and the sausage hash with scrambled eggs. The total was about $ 30 for breakfast… ouch. I felt nickeled and dimed. After looking at the bill, $ 5 for the oatmeal, $ 4 to add fruit, and almost $ 3 for some maple syrup. That’s a $ 12 breakfast for one person. I guess it’s my fault, and I should’ve paid attention, but I also wouldn’t have expected those prices either. That aside, and to be honest, neither plate was that great. Not enough to return. The positives to our experience was the waiter who was helpful in menu suggestions, and quick with refills.

This is a place you can bring people from hipper places and impress them. The food is great, the beer selection is over the top in a good way and the service is on point without being annoying(see: Gracies). I’m convinced that what saves this place is a small bar. A larger bar would encourage more straight drinkers which would make it way louder and less pleasant. They also have a nice deep sidewalk so that outside seating can work without being to crowded. Nothing of their doing, but it helps. Anyway, you’ll be happy. If you are vegetarian there is plenty for you and your meat eating partner(s) to be happy without fussing. These people work hard and it shows. Go support them.

Best brunch I’ve ever had, but be prepared to wait a very long time on Sundays. We waited at least an hour, and it was snowing so everyone was crammed inside. The wait was made less painful by a couple of amazing bloody Mary’s. Definitely the best bloody I’ve had outside of New Orleans. The menu has plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices, although it’s popular for its meat smoker. They even have vegan pancakes! I’d recommend one of the many eggs Benedict options. Get there early, hold yourself over with a cocktail, and don’t come starving or you’ll be very hangry by the time you get seated. Work up the appetite while you wait!

This place is awesome! Great ambiance, great vibe, overall great place. I didn’t get to experience the food today but everything I saw coming from the kitchen was definitely worth coming back to try! I did have a few great cups of coffee, and great service so I will surely be back before the summer sun for some of that eggs benny :)

I’ve been a patron of Julian’s over the past ten years. The staff are always friendly and the prices are reasonable. the décor is quirky and the menu is always revolving. The restaurant is relatively small so if you have a large party call in advance for a reservation or go when they first open.

To start, this place has a very cool/hipster atmosphere. I really liked the art on the walls. We got sat at a table in the back for brunch. When we sat down we were greeted very quickly by a friendly server. After taking a look at the menu my friend and I BOTH decided to order the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon(whoops, just sounded too good to both of us). In addition, he ordered a coffee and I ordered some green tea. To be honest wasn’t a huge fan of the green tea, tasted a little strange to me. We got our eggs benny and began munching down on it immediately. Mmmm it was so so yummy. The bread that it was on was delicious and the salmon was a perfect addition. Their home fries that came with were very good too. So it was delicious but I must admit, the eggs Benny at Nick’s(about a block up) is still better. Don’t get me wrong, I still loved this one too! The food was yummy, the service was great, and their bathroom is super cool(go check it out for yourself). I’d recommend this place for brunch for sure!

I always love coming here. The specials on the chalkboard usually include a vegan option which is great or I can ask and they will let me know if it has dairy in it. The staff is great and the beer selection is exceptional. I go here regularly sometimes multiple days in a row. It’s worth it and the events they have are also fun. Great atmosphere.

First off I just had to get this off my chest, but… The hostess may have been the rudest person I’ve ever met in my life. I asked once how long the wait would be and he told me, «To relax it won’t be that long.» I’m easy going so this didn’t throw me too bad, it was when I asked if we could sit at the bar and he said, «You will sit wherever you are put.», that got me upset. Anyway, we finally get to sit down and it took almost 15 minutes for a server to come by. Then when they finally did they took our drink order, but didn’t come back for another 15 minutes. Then the food I had wasn’t very good. I had an omelet that was very dry tasting and the inside ingredients seemed overcooked. The one thing that saves this whole restaurant is there bathroom. For real their bathroom is unreal. They call the bathroom the«throne» which is freakin awesome. There’s a tv in it and I think I may have been in there for a minute… maybe five… maybe ten. They’re no concept of time in their bathroom because you get so indulged with the fact that there’s a TV in there! They were playing Tommy Boy, so obviously I got caught up and with all the various PEZ dispensers it was easy to get lost in the nostalgia. Overall this place was not a winner. I will probably not be coming back unless maybe I get a coupon or something, but regardless this place needs a major attitude change to their staff.

* are you standing facing this restaurant? Same side of the road, go left and you’ll hit a better vegetarian place, go a bit down on the right, better brunch spot* How dare you be this crappy. You’re an OG on the broadway restaurant circuit and you wanna know what you’re known for? Your bathroom and s-l-o-w service. Ya folks, check out the pez collection and some unexpected TV program while you use the one toilet in the whole restaurant. How kitchy. It was cute ten years ago. Now? Not so much. Without going super indepth i’ll say that my last meal here took over 45 minutes to hit the table, after we waited an hour to be seated. Two burgers were missing ingredients and we had to flag a different staff member cuz our waitress failed to check in. Also mentioned that everything in front of us was cold except the fries, but that we would be eating it since it was already past 10 and we were famished. Waitress then came and«apologized» by saying she didn’t think it would be right to touch food, so how could she have known it was cold? They took of 50% of the tab, but it was still a gross meal. The truth is about 2⁄3 of my meals here have been bad. Usually because of service, but the food can’t compete with other restaurants in the area. Vegetarian and brunch food are what this place used to be known for, but the rest of the city has caught on. PVD has lots of great places to eat vegan dinner and stuffed french toast, this just isn’t one of them anymore.

I absolutely adore this place and cannot help but want to go here every time I want to go out for breakfast! I am so thankful my friend had me try this otherwise I would have never found it. This place is perfect for everyone as it offers a full menu of breakfast options for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. Though I am a meat eater, my friend has been vegan for a while and this place is perfect for us to go to! Typically when I go I always get the traditional eggs benedict which is my favorite benedict I have ever eaten. No joke. It is phenomenal. It is also huge! I always get the half order because of how massive it is. Instead of the typical english muffin, they use a huge slice of fresh italian bread from the bakery next door(at least that is what we were told) and it tastes just as fresh! A huge slab of canadian bacon is placed on top with a perfectly poached egg and a huge helping of hollandaise! The meal also comes with home fries which I strongly advise you ask for extra crispy! They deep fry them and they are simply too good! The atmosphere of the place itself is very funky and fun and gives a different vibe than your normal restaurant. The only real issues I have is that the service is pretty slow considering the size of the place. My friend and I waited almost 20 minutes for a tea and a latte. We didn’t even order our food yet. Also, as I typically cannot order eggs benedict without a pancake or french toast, I usually get their chocolate chip french toast and the last few times I have been severely disappointed. They take a huge slab of the fresh italian bread, cut it halfway in half, add the chocolate chips and dip it into their french toast batter(stuff). Then they place it on their oven top to cook. Sounds good right? Well usually it is. Only the last few times I have received it I actually had to send it back because the chocolate chips were still solid a and not melted and the batter they dip it in was still wet and oozing out. I would rather have waited longer for it to be fully cooked than to have a half cooked piece of french toast. Overall this is probably my favorite breakfast place around and is highly recommended!

After having their food at Proclamation Ale’s Sour Night I made it a priority to make it to Julian’s in PVD. I went around 10am on a Sunday with my wife &6 year old. We were told it would be an hour wait but it was less than that. Our food came out pretty fast. My hash special was amazing. Huge portions & the sausage absolutely put it over the edge for me. Loved the rye toast & scrambled eggs. I washed it down with a flight of beer: some local Revival, Lawson’s Double Dose & Allagash. My son pretty much only eats grilled cheese & his looked pretty tasty. I’m not sure where they get their bread from but he enjoyed it for not being regular old white bread. I wouldn’t say Julian’s is kid friendly but you can bring your child here with no worries. The French toast my wife ordered was definitely a generous proportion. 4 big slices of bread but it was just a little dry. The pure maple syrup was very tasty & not enough. I balked at the $ 2 refill. Service was spotty but the food came out fast & was pretty damn good. I can’t hold it against them for being so popular but I wish they had a better system(or room) for the wait. It’s not fun standing around especially as it gets more & more packed. For the price & what you get it’s hard to not love Julian’s. I’d definitely go back again even just for their tap list alone.

I arrived at he peak of Saturday brunch and although there was a bit of a wait, we were seated in less than 35minutes. Cannnot opt for indoor or outdoor seating so when our name was called, inside it was. Not a quiet location but great vibe and tons of opportunities for people watching to go along with the eclectic music selection. Awesome choices for vegan and vegetarian patrons. Our waitress did leave us to study the menu but then forgot about us until I had to ask one of the bussers to grab her. Went out of my comfort zone and got a non beer beverage called Teaches of Peaches which is one of their several mimosas on the menu. A bit on the sweet side but tasty and could be dangerous Hash seems to be popular as are Bloody Mary’s but I opted for the house made corned beef sandwich which you have to add your sides a la carte. I opted for sweet potato fries and a side of fried pickles because. Hello fried pickles are freaking awesome. As we waited the couple next to us ordered after and got their food first. What the heck!!! However when our food was finally brought out, our waitresses errors were quickly cast aside. Thick slices of rye enveloping their house made corned beef and ooey gooey Swiss cheese, it was pure heaven. Also loved the pickles(which stayed together with each bite and had a great batter to pickle ratio) but not a fan of their dipping sauce, mist were eaten plain or with a dip in the ketchup. All in all a great meal. Would recommend to anyone coming to PVD

3 stars for the food, which was very good; no stars for the service. Since we are in the area, we decided to stop and try a new restaurant for brunch. The restaurant was a little busy and we were told there would be a 30 minute wait, but luckily the wait was only about maybe 10 minutes. We sat in the back, which has some really cool wall art and the tables have some great antique looking old press stamps in the table. Each table is unique, the music in the room is pretty cool. However, we ran into a little issue with the waitress. Not sure what her deal was but she seemed a little off to the point where she could not be bothered with her customers. We did not get the specials, we were forgotten when trying to place our order. The table next to us ordered, different waiter, received food and then was on their way out when we finished placing our order. Even the table next to us, who had our same waitress, had the same issue. The food was awsome! We ordered the Ruben sandwich, which is homemade and very good! With onion rings, sweet potatoe fries and fried pickles, aeesome! Our drinks were a peach and a pineapple mimosas! Overall we would go back because of the food but not with the same waitress.
