Love this place. My favorite record store in the city. Owner is incredibly helpful and will go out of his way to find records in the store or special order them for you. This should be your first stop in Providence for all things vinyl!

This was my maiden voyage to Olympic Records. I am just getting into vinyl, so I am super excited about all things records! When I learned a about a Groupon for this place, I was determined to go.
The selection is incredible! There are rows of 45s and 33s, waiting to be perused. In one bin alone, I found In The Key Of Life and The Supremes! I was on Cloud 9 very early.
As I walked around the store, I noticed a large box of 45s that were $.50 each. There I find Labelle’s Lady Marmalade. In the 4 for $ 10 corner, I found Young Rascals, The Commodores, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Diana Ross. Talk about a great day!
The shop owner was very helpful. His records are in great condition and he provided suggestions on how to keep my records in good shape. He even tried to help me find some early Hip-​Hop, but we came up empty. Given my large haul, I was not disappointed.
After my time in the shop, I could definitely understand why Technics turntables are so widely sought: it played beautifully with the speaker system it was connected to throughout the store. I fell in love with the record that played while I sought to add to my collection. When I asked the owner to contact me if another copy of the LP came to his shop, he offered the one playing for $ 4.
Now satisfied, I checked and used my Groupon to pay for a good portion of my records. I will definitely return to Olympic Records in the very near future: I want more 80s Pop!

Went in here for the first time today looking for a specific 45 for my jukebox. Impressed by the store and how organized it was. Owner found the record within minutes. Can’t wait to go back when I have time to search for more 45’s.
They are extremely helpful here and this should be your first stop if you are looking for vinyl in Rhode Island.

Who knew that the Best record store in the universe is right here in Fox Point? Owner is super nice and easily has the finest collection of 45s known to man. Get into it.

A great little record shop on the edge of the East Side and one of the friendliest proprietors one could hope for.
Good prices and a good selection make this the other great record store in Providence.

So glad this is in walking distance. Took a chance on an album and when I listened to it at home I immediately hated it, but I literally don’t even care because this place was so great. Also I did get something that I knew I would enjoy in addition to the sucky thing, so that helps– but regardless…
The person working was the most gentle and unobtrusive shop keeper I’ve ever encountered and was so patient with my obsessive browsing habits. Not a giant store and the selection is smaller than others, but it also feels really nice and open and clean. Organization is a little weird though– for example the folk is mixed in with jazz and blues in one big section, but to be honest I don’t even mind because it’s more fun to dig.
Great selection of local music, too. Also none of the bullshit hipster frippery usually associated with record stores. All around a total 5 star place!

Coolest record store that Wickenden St. has seen in decades. The owner Kevin is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things vinyl. Great selection of vintage 45s (which are all nicely organized and fairly priced). Don’t forget to buy one of his bitchin’ record tote bags while you’re there!

FREAKING LOVE this place. It’s the usual to find a hidden gem that is needing stylus love! The owner is so chill and so down to earth. Has knowledge on genres all over from folk to jazz. Lacks in the rap category but makes up for hospitality! Love it.

when I walked in the owner came right over ask if I needed any help. Never had such good service at a record shop, also has a lot of gems I haven’t been able to find in cities such as Philly and Chicago. This is easily one of my favorite record shops I’ve been to.

Been coming here on and off for a couple years and have always enjoyed their prices, selection, and having talks with the owner about the state of music and vinyl. I have bought from him and sold to him and each interaction has left both of us extremely happy. Definitely worth the time to visit and peruse!

On a nice day, I like to get a coffee at Coffee Exchange, then go for a little stroll up to the other end of Wickenden Street and poke around Olympic. I always end up leaving with something, whether it’s a new release, an old 45, something cool from the 3 dollar bin, extra 12″ sleeves, etc… there is always something that I get fired up to buy.
The owner Kevin is the man! He silk screens his own bags AND vintage inspired 45 sleeves… WHAT!!! So sick. GO HERE!!!
FAVORITE RECORD STORE IN PROVIDENCE!

When my boyfriend and I randomly stopped into Olympic Records, our ears were immediately serenaded with the eerie compositions of John Cage. Just for that I was won over! Make no mistake though, the owner is FAR from your typical, pretentious, stuffy, record store owner. I love his indie section. It was well stocked with great albums! The used jazz section is also fantastic, and I found myself some Thelonious Monk in there which I am very happy with and it’s been in heavy rotation in my house since I picked it up last week. Also purchased a Twin Sister EP that I’ve wanted for a while.
The owner, as I mentioned, is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable as one would expect. I wasn’t at all intimidated, which I sometimes am in record stores with closed-​mouthed, leather jack clad guys bent over record bins with grumpy looking faces. He really puts you at ease and I got up the courage (okay, so I obviously have some kind of record store PTSD?) to ask him if he had any Bleeding Rainbow or Baby Ghosts. He knew exactly what I was talking about and while he didn’t have anything on hand at the moment, he was able to recommend another band on the same label as Bleeding Rainbow, and some other artists he thought were similar. He really went the extra mile walking all around the store and looking for records for me. And I felt no pressure to buy!
My boyfriend asked if he could spin one of the records he was looking at, and he was very cordial and let him take a listen.
There are a lots of record stores in and around Prov, but this is now my go to!

My ex boyfriend ranted and raved over this place, yet would never bring me in when we’d go on our weekend adventures.
Having a half day I decided to take advantage of the sunshine and that it was on my way home. Popped into the minimally decorated store (which was really nice) and started digging.
I liked the aesthetics of the place– it wasn’t filled with knick knacks or junk. The main wall displayed some prime brand new picks, and the rest of the wares were easily navigable.
I settled on a few random pieces, a new copy of Mary Wells from the Shangri Las album, a neat used comp of all covers of «Louie Louie», an off brand 70s Monkees single containing Pleasant Valley Sunday and I’m a Believer (I would have to say that PVS was the B side in this instance), and Elenore by the Turtles complete with a picture sleeve.
I will definitely be back time and time again. The owner, was fantastic he didn’t hover, nor indicate that he really wanted me to hurry up and give him a sale or get out. If I inquired he interacted, if not he let me be.
Also, a MAJOR MAJOR plus, he accepts all credit cards! Even my AMEX (i love rewards points… don’t judge)

Hey they are are open, have a good selection, and the records are nice and clean. What more can you ask for? How about 2 awesome pinball machines!

My teenage daughter received a record player for Christmas and thus began the record collecting.
Olympic Records is located on the less busy end of Wickenden with parking on the street. We happened to go on a Monday early afternoon and the store was pretty empty, having but just us for awhile the friendly, super nice guy that was working didn’t mind putting a couple of records on the player we weren’t sure about.
Used records, new records, band t’s, and even an arcade game to play while hanging out! Some sitting space was also available with comfy chairs and local magazines for a quick read or thumb through.
We ended up buying a handful of records new & used. We will be back!

Come for the records, stay for the pinball!
This is a great little record shop. Not a huge variety of genres, but if you like what they carry they have a really nice selection.
Also, this is the first record shop I’ve been to in a long time that actually played records for you to listen to while shopping.
Next time I’m in Providence I will be back, and hope they still have Whirlwind.
