Quaint little hideaway off of Federal Hill. Delicious cakes and desserts accompanied by fresh brewed coffee and teas. Highly recommended.

It was my second time at Pastiche but first time going at night(Friday night), and it was paaaaacked. We walked in at just the right time and only had to wait about ten minutes for a table. After we came in, about 20 other people walked in and shuffled around awkwardly trying to find a place to stand. Pastiche is tiny, and as far as I can tell that’s the only negative about the place. It gets packed out because everyone knows this is the best place in providence to come for some amazing after-dinner coffee and dessert. I split a slice of the coconut cake with my husband. They were kind enough to split it on two plates. The slices of cake are enormous so half was plenty. The cake is so good! I want to eat allllllll of the cake in that place. Highly recommend Pastiche for all of your sugary needs. Yum. Can’t wait to go back.

Over priced and over rated is all you need to know about Pastiche. Their space is tiny, so if you’re not 5’2″ and 98 lbs you will have a hard time moving around. their pastry is fine, our party ordered cookies, fruit tartes, chocolate mousse cake and a praline tart. the cookie was hard, the mousse cake and praline tart was loaded with sugar and the fruit tarte was ok. Overall, not worth the drive or price.

A hidden providence gem. If you have friends or family who are visiting from out of toon take them here for a sweet treat. The fruit tart is to die for.

Do you want fresh pastries and great coffee? pastiche is the place. They are open late on most nights I believe and it’s a cute little café atmosphere and fresh cookies and cakes and pastries and desserts. I had a lemon torte cake of sorts and anything chocolate is to die for here. Either take it to go or if there is a table pull up a chair and enjoy.

Awesome desserts and coffee! My boyfriend grew up in RI and knows all of the best spots to take me when I come to visit, this is definitely one of them. After finishing a pretty big dinner, he told me we HAD to go here and I’m glad we did. We shared the peanut butter brownie and a slice of the carrot cake. Both were seriously to die for, so good I didn’t feel guilty when we had finished them both. Though I’ve only tried these two treats, he and his mother say the fruit tart is also one of the best they’ve ever had. Additionally, the ambience and cute and cozy and though you’re seated around others, you won’t feel like you’re being rushed to give the table to someone else. You must go, you won’t regret it!

If Jesus was reincarnated into dessert, the body of Christ would be every single one of Pastiche’s desserts. I drive over an hour for this place probably once a month. I have had the pumpkin cheesecake, the pumpkin praline tart, the vanilla bean cheesecake, the chocolate mousse cake, a the fruit tart… and I wish I could tell you one is better than the other. Be prepared for it to be jammed packed. The place is tiny and the takeout line often ends up hovering over the tables. But it wouldn’t matter if I had take-out customers sitting on my lap, just give me my cake/pie/cannoli from Pastiche and you wouldn’t hear a peep from me.

I love love love this place! I am so glad I live walking distance for this cute little bakery. Be warned there is always a wait when you go here because it is just that good. I’ve only been able to sit down and have dessert twice here in the last couple months. I think I prefer taking it to go. The wait line can feel much as they hover over you. My favorite is their carrot cake. Not too sweet and very light. But everything in this store is delicious!

I mean, what can I say that hasn’t been said already? I’ve been visiting this joint for years and have not been disappointed. My hubby and I stopped in the other day after dinner on the hill. I can’t imagine ever getting dessert after a meal — I always opt out and walk over to this lovely spot. This last time we tried the lemon square, apple/cherry pie, cream cheese brownie, and the éclair. I don’t come all too often, so when I do, I grab a few things to try! All these items were delicious. Brownie was perfect, the pie crust was beyond expectations, lemon square was affordable and tasty(only 75 cents), and the éclair was the best I’ve had. The cream inside was amazing. Service was nice — the girl at the counter answered all our questions. Luckily it was slow that evening, so we could’ve sat down, but still chose to take our stuff to go.

This is holy ground for dessert lovers. You can’t really beat Pastiche around here. Everything they have is bursting with flavor and interesting. Perfect end to a summer date night on the hill or for any reason really.

I just realized I have never reviewed my favorite bakery in Rhode Island. Where do I start? Everything is baked with love. The lemon squares are light, sweet and slightly tart. The fruit tart is simply amazing. The cakes are moist and flavorful. The coffee is also pretty remarkable. It’s like a Starbucks on steroids. That much better. I love to eat with friends at Café Dolce Vita then waddle over here for a cappuccino and dessert. It can be really busy and seating is limited so if it’s nice out there are some benches outside. Pastiche is what dreams are made of. Save some room for dessert and visit.

Pastiche is such a great little café. Everyone is so nice and it’s a cozy space. Desserts are incredible, and I’m not even a dessert person. Espresso based drinks are tasty too. Pastiche makes for the perfect midday dessert or a way to end a nice dinner. It can be a little crazy at times, but the line moves pretty quickly for take out. I can’t recommend the dutch apple pie enough. It comes with a nice warm vanilla anglaise on the side, but you might as well just dump that whole thing over the pie… Or drink it, I won’t judge.

We need to talk about Pastiche. I first discovered Pastiche about 17 years ago. I was a teenager, and it felt like finding a secret club in Rhode Island where«coffee» doesn’t end with the word«milk», and desserts aren’t just sad cannolis. Well, I’m super old now, and in all of these years, it’s never lost its charm. I’ve come in five minutes before closing to be warmly welcomed; I’ve ordered their ridiculous banana cream pie for special occasions — and let me tell you, there is no greater crowd pleaser.(For all but vegans, though there may be an option for them, too, if you call ahead.) Meeting up with a friend and want to chat over coffee? Pastiche. Going to a special occasion and need the perfect hostess gift? Pastiche. No idea what to do with yourself and feeling sort of existential and hopeless about the world? Pastiche. It’s a treasure.

Great place. Small quaint crowded… but this what I would expect from an old school mom and pop dessert place. The service was great. …very accommodating for a busy place. …coffee was made the way good coffee is supposed to be made. Not burnt… not weak… just right. The coconut cake was not too sweet… again…just right. Perfect for a date or for a friendly get together.

Pricey desserts but we’ll worth it! I’d buy here rather than desserts in restaurants for the same expensive price. The staff is friendly and there’s seating inside as well. It’s a cute store outside and in. There’s a bunch of cakes and you can get coffee too. My goal is to try everything. We got the torte de ciocolatte. It was great rich and creamy.

This little bakery is so cute! Whenever someone visits I make sure to bring them here and they are always impressed! My latest discovery is the chocolate coconut macaroons, they are to die for! Literally one of the most scrumptious bites ever. They also have great coffee and a nice assortment of pastries. The one thing about Pastiche is that when you get a slice of cake the buttercream frosting is always so cold it is hard. If they would wait until the cake gets room temperature I think it would be even better!

*** 5⁄2014 *** While out on a day trip out to Rhode Island in May, I managed to convince my father to stop by Pastiche in Providence for a brief snack stop on the way back. I had the intent of ordering their fruit tart, banana cream pie, and butterscotch crumbcake to share between the three of us(with back up thoughts of the lemon mousse cake or some other lemony option). We found a nice parking spot a short distance away, but sadly, we discovered upon approaching the neat blue building that they’re closed on Mondays. Lesson learned — don’t go to Pastiche on a Monday, or face severe disappointment. *** 7⁄2015 *** $ 21 round trip on the commuter rail, taxi fare, 4 hours there and back; a friend running out to Providence to pick you up a slice of Pastiche’s fruit tart? Priceless. Fresh Fruit Tart — A buttery tart shell filled with vanilla custard, topped with fresh fruits of the season. The crust was thin, and just a bit worse for the wear after an overnight stay in the fridge. The custard was sweet dreamy dairy goodness. The colorful fruit ranged from sweet to tart, but tasted good eaten along with the sweet custard. Good, but not sure it is worth the near $ 8 for a slice after tax. A rather huge cooler bag was to be had for $ 4. They care about the quality of their goods, so they discouraged my friend from buying more than she could consume in a reasonable length of time once they knew she wouldn’t be able to get to it for over 24 hours.

While home in Boston, we decided to take a jaunt down to Providence RI. Jumped in the car for the 45-minute ride and immediately hit traffic. 2 hours later we were touring this great little town. Happened upon Pastiche while looking for somewhere open that could quench our sweet craving. Walked into this smallish place and the sweet smells of sweetness where everything. Knew this would be a winner. They have table service so we grabbed a table after looking over the case of confections. We decided on the Chocolate Chip Coconut Angel food cake and a traditional Chocolate Layer cake. The Angel found cake was springy and light with suspended chips of chocolate to add some flavor to the airy slice. It was coated with coconut shavings and a white frosting. Yummy. Now I tend not to go for plain chocolate cakes because if not done well they can get pretty dry and chalky. This chocolate cake was anything but devoid of moisture! It was soft and fairly dense and full of chocolate flavor with hints of vanilla. There was a chocolate mousse icing that was rich and delicious. Between the layers was a spread of intense chocolate fudge. To round things out, were stolen scoops of house-made whipped cream from the Angel cake. Dense and not too sweet. The perfect complement to the luxurious taste and texture of the Chocolate Layer cake.

It was nearly impossible to choose just one dessert to get and I probably drooled on myself at least 5 times when trying to decide, but I ended up getting the coconut cake and it was to die for! The cake was moist and dense, with the best coconut frosting, all topped with coconut flakes. Came on top of a drizzle of raspberry sauce, and it was absolute heaven. Just stopped by again(2 days in a row, woot!) and got their peanut butter brownie, cheesecake brownie, more coconut cake, and a cannoli. Don’t judge(I promise I was sharing). The cheesecake brownie was alright, but the cannoli and pb brownie were amazing! Easily the best brownie I’ve ever eaten — super moist, rich, and indulgently delicious.
