So much delicious-looking prepared food! My brother and I each got an Italian grinder to go. When it was brought over to the cash register, a fresh pizza was simultaneously placed on the counter so of course we had to get a few slices even though the sandwiches ended up being huge. We ate it all anyway. We got the grinder just how they make it by default and it was delicious. The bread was great, lots of meat, and they put black olives on it, which I’ve never had on an Italian grinder. I liked that! I regretted having already bought so much food when I walked out past the dessert counter. Everything looked amazing! And there are tons of different dried pastas and jarred and canned goods in the center shelves. I’d return for another grinder without hesitation. And I may need to pick up a fun and different pasta shape next time I’m having company for dinner!

Delicious grinders, amazing pizza, and a very nice variety of ready to eat favorites. Seems like the folks coming in are all regulars, as everyone seemed to know each other but me! Still, the folks behind the counter were friendly and accommodating. I had never know this place existed until I tried it out for the grinder throw-down contest. Now it’s on my list of favorite lunch spots! Too bad Atwells is so annoying for parking, but it’s worth the trouble!

The marketplace is a great spot to grab a quick delicious bite to eat. They have plenty of prepared food options including calzones, pastas, and meats. They have a deli area where you can get a made to order sandwich. There is a giant counter for dessert. They also sell packaged pastas and sauces to take home. I tried a slice of their cheese pizza. It was delicious. The crust is thin. It has a good flavor. The end of the crust is crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. The cheese tastes fresh. I can’t wait to go back and try other dishes. They also sell frozen filled pastas(ravioli, tortellini, rigatoni)

First time going to Roma on a Saturday night for dinner. I’ve heard great things. We were greeted in a professional manner by the host and offered a window view table. It was surprisingly slow for a Saturday night with only 3 parties eating. We waited a few minutes while the bus boy cleared our table then were seated. Immediately I noticed the white table cloth was very badly stained. I figured I wouldn’t be «that guy» and just let it go… The unenthusiastic bus boy came back and poured our water out of a pitcher with no ice… strange. Our waiter was young and seemed new but was very friendly. We ordered mussels for an appetizer. Amazing. I wanted to also get a bottle of wine… their wine list is «under construction» so they only had a few choices and were uncertain on prices… Very bad move. An Italian restaurant on the hill not having a good selection of wine? Also had to mention to the server my wine glass had lipstick on it. The food was great. I got the chicken Marsala. My girlfriend got lobster ravioli. Would definitely come back for the food. But the lack of attention to cleanliness and awkward service is an issue. Would recommend they find a manager to oversee the waitstaff until everyone is more experienced.

We went here for Christmas eve dinner. I don’t eat fish, so I did not get the fish dinner. I ordered chicken parm instead. It was disgusting. The chicken was old and dry chicken tenders that were about 2 ½ inches thick. I saw them going to the next table when I arrived and asked if I could have mine pounced down before they were cooked and the waitress told me it couldn’t be done because they were already cooked… I assumed she meant they were breaded but after receiving them, I have no doubt these were left overs from another dinner service and and they were microwaved. I figured I would just eat the ziti and be OK, but there were only about 15 ziti on the plate. When I left Al but 1 bite of chicken on my plate, I expected the waitress to ask me if anything was wrong but she merely picked up my plate as if it was normal to see the chicken almost untouched. When she asked me if I wanted to take it home, I emphatically said no, hoping she would take the hint… She didn’t. I have a feeling I was not the only person to send back a full plate of chicken that night. The ziti was good but not the portion was so small that it did not help the meal.

Good Sandwich The Italian deli and prepared food selection is extremely delicious, the bread is probably the best tasting, I’ve ever had. The meals, which we’ve had several times were all delicious w/a very nice presentation. Generous portions, everybody there took home a doggie bag! Valet parking was a plus, since Federal Hill tends to be very busy. One of our favorite place restaurants. Tip: The place has strange hours, for some odd reason they aren’t usually open when I happen to be in the area. Thanks

Let’s start off with the fact that on a Saturday night we showed up without a reservation and the Hostess was more than happy to squeeze us in and sat us in an excellent spot. Then our waitress was polite professional and very patient while we asked a million questions because it was our first time there. My husband had the Cesar salad which he claimed the best he ever had. My husband had a pizza. When they tell you the ingredients are fresh. They are telling the truth. OMG he could tell the difference between the vegetable and the meat. The crust was just right the topping so fresh you could taste it I had veal parmigiana the veal was moist and tasty the cheese excellent and the sauce a delightful addition to an excellent meal. I also had a side dish of risotto. Please tell the Chef I fell in love. I have eaten at the top of the Eiffel Tower the best in Milano, Italy and his risotto took a backseat to no one. This restaurant must be a well kept secret because we were able to sneak in on a Saturday night and enjoy a excellent meal and be served in the most professional manner. And the reason we tried was because we listened to a interview in the Gene Valicenti program in the morning radio show. Kudos to you Gene for having the owner on because you called this one right. Excellent restaurant

It’s been many years since I’ve been here but I’m so glad that one of my friends and I made it a point to come for lunch today. This is the quintessential Italian deli and marketplace and unlike many others around Federal Hill they have a parking lot of their own. So many choices, pizza, sandwiches & prepared foods all alike. Today was the perfect call for a chicken parm sandwich. Each of our sandwiches were made to order and featured a nice crusty Italian roll which was then thrown in the wood fire pizza oven for a few minutes to warm up. Getting to sit and enjoy there was a big plus too rather than having to bring it back to the office. I feel bad that I’ve taken so long to come back here but I know it will be a regular place of mine for sure. Hope you enjoy!

This has to be the best Italian deli/restaurant I have ever been too. Excellent service, delicious food, a huge variety. No matter how picky you are you will find something you like to eat here. You can’t go wrong with Roma!

Stopped by for a quick dice of pizza. Thin big slices but for a wood brick oven the pizza could have been a touch more of a crunch to the bite. Asked to have our slices really hot, got a little smirk from the waitress who told us «they’re hot» but did stick them in the oven for us real Italian looking place that get packed at night. Worth the try. Enjoy.

What a great evening at Trattoria Roma! The previous time we had dinner there, construction was still underway. That construction is complete and a lovely, attractive ambiance is the result. The food was fantastic. We shared a delicious antipasto as well as a bruschetta platter with another couple and both dishes were tasty and so very enjoyable. My entrée of eggplant with a small amount of grilled veggies(rather than pasta — my choice) was absolutely perfect in flavor. I really wanted more of those yummy grilled vegetables !! I am an eggplant fan and am very fussy about its preparation, texture and flavor. Domenic Ierfino knows how to make it a delectable dish. My husband’s veal parmigiana made him very happy as it was tasty and tender. The red sauce(Italian«gravy») on both dishes was pleasant and flavorful! Our server was always available but did not rush us through our meal at all. Really looking forward to returning for another evening of wonderful service and great food.

First time there to listen to Angelo Miccoli singing. What a nice touch for a Saturday evening. The food was fantastic. We had the veal parm, shared the calamari, drank from a nice Italian wine list. Good atmosphere. Cannot wait to go back.

I came to Providence to visit some friends who had moved there in recent years. When they asked what kind of meal we were in the mood for we decided we could go for some Italian. They said they knew the perfect place that had great food at a reasonable price. When we arrived they were surprised to discover that the menu had changed, the décor had been upgraded, and the prices had been slightly increased. Our waitress explained that they had a chef from Naples come in recently to help overhaul the restaurant. And what a job he did! The food was absolutely incredible, across the board, and the prices, while apparently higher than perviously, were still incredibly reasonable. I ordered lobster ravioli in a vodka sauce that was absolutely to die for, and my reasonably priced Pinot Noir was the perfect companion. Our waitress(I wish I remembered her name) was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable. She gave us a full run-down of the menu and made plenty of suggestions along the way. She went out of her way to ensure we had a great experience and it was greatly appreciated. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy, and would almost certainly be a great place for a romantic dinner for two, while still being great for our party of four. I’m by no means a «foodie», though I’ve certainly eaten in my fair share of restaurants over the years. I think it’s safe to say that this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in quite some time.

The pizza is fantastic. I’m a big fan of pickup coming from Cranston. At first, I was worried about dealing with where to park for picking up, but they have a parking lot right next door that can be utilized for customers. The pizza is out of this world. Crust/dough is incredible! True brick oven style with char marks and great authentic taste. I am so happy I found it. Currently running a special for large 18in 3 topping $ 10.99. Crazy!!!

For the price I don’t think you can beat Roma pizza. The crust is the perfect texture — a little chewy, soft, and crispy on the outside. The service is always nice and they have just about every italian food item you could want inside the store as well, including a fresh baked goods and café bar located inside the marketplace. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for well priced great tasting pizza!

Come here for anything Italian related! Seriously! They have a nice coffee section where you can choose from a large variety of coffee types, a dessert section, cheese and meats. They also have prepared food you can get to go. If you’re looking to cook for yourself, and want Italian pasta or olive oil, or anything really, this is the place to come!

This place is confusing for lunch on the weekends. You can order at the deli and sit in the dining room. My pizza was good but not as good as some other places. It was pretty cheap($ 30 for 4 drinks, 2 calzones, and a large pizza). They had a lot of premade food too similar to the other delis on Atwells. The staff was very friendly at the deli too. Oh and the canolli was to die for. That alone is 5 stars.

I had a Living Social I needed to use before the end of the month so I went with two of my friends for dinner this past Friday night. I was very skeptical after reading the reviews but went anyway. I will say that there is no ambiance(brighter than normal lighting and awkwardly placed tables) and for a Friday night the place was pretty dead. However, we had great service. I wish I could remember our server’s name but he was so enthusiastic and happy to have us there. They didn’t have a wine list because they were changing it(?) but he also wasn’t sure of what they had so he gave me the old one to work off of. The prices were cheap! $ 20 bottle of Line 39 sauv blanc? I’m there! He said they were all out but then came back 10 minutes later triumphantly toting the last bottle. We were so grateful. The food was good too, we only ordered two items — margherita pizza and pasta bolognese but both were very tasty. All in all I would go back if I had another Groupon or the like but I’d probably sit outside.

LOVELOVELOVE Roma!!! I went to Roma quite a bit when I lived in RI so when my family and I came into town for Thanksgiving week, Roma was out first stop after T.F. Greene! My husband had been there before, but my Mom and 14 yo son had not. They were in heaven! The sights, the smells, and the neighborhood vibe of the marketplace all made for a great experience. Our food order consisted of 2 Italian subs, Chicken Cutlet sub, Stuffed Artichoke, and a(giant) Rice Ball(Arancini). Everything was fantastic!!! I had the Stuffed Artichoke and the Arancini and I was in love with both of them. The Artichoke was very large, but tender and the stuffing was so flavorful! The Arancini was equally delicious! The outside was crispy, but not greasy, the rice was moist, but not mushy, the cheese was tangy and had just the right amount and the peas are always a welcomed addition. They split it in half and topped it with some fresh marinara… YUM!(my mouth is watering right now, just describing it!). My Mom and husband loved their Italian subs. The rolls are made on-site, the meats are top-notch and the condiments were all very fresh. My son decided to stay within his comfort zone and ordered a Chicken Cutlet sub, but after he took one«taste» of my Mom’s Italian sub he somehow negotiated for half of her sandwich, too! Then came the dessert… Cannolis!!! Deliciously perfect as I remember. I also picked up a tow of Wandies to bring to Thanksgiving dinner the next day. They have an espresso machine, too. So if you need a good espresso or latte to go with your dessert, they have it covered! Now on to the breads. OHMY!!! There are several things that I miss about RI and the bakeries… especially the breads… are near the top of the list. Roma has a GREAT selection of breads. From single sub size to the monstrous hearth-baked breads… they have it all! With the serious void in the Crusty Bread market in Charlotte I wanted to snag every loaf of bread that they had there, but I had to resist since it was only day one of out trip. Hmmm… I wonder if they would offer par-baked breads that I could freeze and ship home? Now that could be an idea! The marketplace is great. Whether you are looking for meats and cheeses, baked goods, Italian Pantry Items, or a great quick meal… Roma has it all! They also have their own parking lot and as anyone familiar with Federal Hill knows… parking is hard to come by! We are going back to RI in March and our flight arrives around lunch time… coincidence…I think not. :-)

Mini-update: pizza by the slice. yum! — — — — — — Roma has a limited selection of Italian goods for your home pantry, but I come here mostly for the prepared foods(my bf is in love with the stuffed artichokes) and meat/cheese selections(large variety, and seem to be lower in cost than some nearby competitors). Very good service.
