The back of my neck is still sore from cuts. They guy completely ignored me when I told him the clippers hurt me. Better luck

Met Pete and Jazz this week to clean up my look and they did a fantastic job. I was in and out of there pretty quickly considering there was a customer or two in front of me. Jazz did a nice job interpreting my vague instructions on how to cut my hair… He’s clearly good at what he does, and enjoyable to chat with. The price was more than reasonable, and I’ll definitely be going back there for my next cut. FYI Parking can be tricky near Gano, but Pete pointed out there are plenty of spots across the street on Power St.

I’ve been getting my hair cut here for the last six months. It is inexpensive, and they’ve always done a good job.

I dig this place for several reasons. It’s right down the street; it’s cheaper than craptastic Supercuts; there are always hot beats jammin(as opposed to stupid old white smooth jams. Seriously, how much Carly Simon can I take during ONE haircut?! Other salons, I’m talking to you…); and most of the guys here seem way to high to talk my ear off while they snip away. Which is fine by me, because I like when my barber pays attention to my hair instead of telling me about her kids. Also, for some reason I’m usually the whitest dude here. Why is that? For a few bucks extra, they will use a razor to trim my beard lines so straight, it looks like I’m the leader of a Puerto Rican dance crew! Hello selling point! However, I would not advise bringing your home schooled Mormon children here.

I really tried to like this place. I went two weeks ago and was shocked at how the barbers act. I understand the environment of a barbershop but this place was more like a high school gym locker room. Upon getting home, I found two patches on my beard that he missed completely. All I got was a trim, I went back today, and called for an appointment for noon. When I got in, there were two other people there(who said they were walk ins) and my name wasn’t on the appointment board. I told Ivan this, and he ignored me. They took the other two people before me, and JUST before I was about to get a barber, his two friends showed up and, SURPRISE, they got my seat. If I didn’t need a haircut badly, I would have left. I have no problem waiting if your policy is first come, first serve. But when you give me an appointment for 12 and ignore me until 1, I’m going to be pissed. The unprofessionalism is ridiculous here. The staff constantly text, leave the store INTHEMIDDLEOF A HAIRCUT without telling their clients, and go way overboard with the amount of personal stories they tell. Not to mention that their idea of cleaning seems to be to blast the hair dryer on the chair, floor, and their clippers. Sorry, I’ll never go back here nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone.

Had a GREAT experience here earlier today. I wanted some work done on the new beard, and he paid it the respect it deserves. He got to know my story, we joked around, and he took the work surprisingly seriously. They really are passionate about their craft, and they take great pride in being a local business and knowing their customers. I’m an out-of-towner and found them here on Unilocal, and they sent me home with a(cheap!) $ 7 «line-up» and some fond memories. This is the place guys!

I was a fan of this place until last Friday. The haircuts here can really be hit or miss. My hair is naturally curly, and I somehow finagle it into a fauxhawk. This seemed to intimidate one of the barbers(Ivan), who while finishing a decent haircut, waved his arms at me and said«I don’t know what you want me to do with this.» It was as though he was suggesting I apologize for having a hairstyle that didn’t involve icepick sideburns and a Caesar cut. I will NOT apologize for having style. On a visit last Friday, I entered the shop and the only barber available was Ivan. He was lounging in a chair, and referred me to the girl they hired to tweeze eyebrows and answer phones. She assured me she could cut my hair. But she was wrong. She didn’t listen to anything I said. It was clear I was getting the haircut she wanted. She also didn’t ask if I wanted hair product. She proceeded to apply pomade to my hair, saying«wow, you must have to use extra strength hold gel.» WHOSAYSTHATTO A CLIENTOFCOLOR!!! Xclusive Cuts has lost my business.

I was really happy with my cut after experiencing a few I wasn’t too happy with. After all, it’s only hair, but it’s nice to walk out of a place with something you like for a good price. The price is $ 14 but I think you can get it for $ 12 if you opt out of the straight razor trim. Either way, one of the cheapest, quality cuts in the area.

Got a fresh cut here last night from my dude«Smitty.» My first time to Xclusive Cuts, he hooked me up with a classy cut and some good conversation in the process. Old school hip hop is bumpin in the background, which adds to the classic barbershop feel. «Smitty» was very attentive, he kept checking in to make sure what he was doing what I wanted throughout the cut(as it was my first time there), and made sure to ask if I wanted the straight razor(I did). After returning from school down south I have been looking for a good spot to get a cut and have tried out a few spots to no avail, even relegating myself to supercuts(never again). I finally found a chill spot with a laid back vibe but most importantly, the dude knows how to cut hair(both men’s and womens). Keep doing what you do

The guys are really friendly, atmosphere is great. They were pretty confused when I first showed up to get a haircut, white girl that I am, but after talking with my barber for a while became more comfortable. Good old school hip hop in the background, something I appreciated and bonded with the guys over. I’m a regular now – cheapest good haircut a girl can get on the east side. The guys don’t understand why I am literally the only girl from Brown to come in, and it’s definitely the intimidation factor, not the price. Basically, they’re really sweet and talking to them is more about reality, not annoying small talk, plus you come out with a great haircut for twenty bucks. If nothing else, the atmosphere is amusing if not your thing. I say give them a try.

These guys have actually moved to a new location on Gano Street and call themselves Xclusive Cuts. Whoever they are and whatever they want to call themselves, they’re doing well and they did a great job on my hair today. I highly recommend them for their attention to detail. Haircuts go for $ 14, w/straight razor, fades, temps, etc. Guys can go here for a nice shave. There’s a girl there who’ll wax your eyebrows… Not my thing, but I’m just a reporter here. Providence, especially the East Side of Providence and College Hill are great places for some upscale salons and Italian-American barbers. That sufficed for this community for the last few decades maybe but with the movement of minority college students towards the East Side and the consolidation of native minority Rhode Islanders to Fox Point, there came a need for barbers experienced with the range of hair styles that minorities needed and shops with more accommodating atmospheres. This is where Cuts on Point/Xclusive Cuts come in. This is the place where the urban man gets his hair cut. Don’t get me wrong, they’ll gel you up with the latest beauty products too, but this place smells strongly of testosterone and that’s a good thing. You tell the barber you want to get laid tonight, and he takes extra special care of your hair because he knows that he is now in a powerful position of arbitration of said intercourse. And these guys aren’t the guys who’re going to automatically put an electric razor with a guard to your head, they’re much more careful and methodical. I ended up with one of the better haircuts I’ve had in my life and I’m probably more of a man leaving that place. One of the only places in town you’ll get your haircut by a dude who raps to the G’d up sound, Pioneers speakers bumpin, etc etc etc. Place is very kid friendly. And since I’m the one writing the review, capable of cutting Asian hair. I hope this place stays around for a while; it’s a good representation of the culture of Providence.
