Sal’s place has lately been our first night restaurant in Ptown. This year was a big disappointment. They wouldn’t allow us to move from our reserved table on the open deck to one of the many empty reserved tables under the awning. The said they couldn’t turn On the heater that was near us because they don’t do that at this time of year(a 65° August night). The gazpacho and the kale salad were excellent, but the mains were disappointing. My biggest disappointment was a change in the recipe for the Carbonara, which they made lighter, with no cream and some other changes. Sorry, but once a year I really look forward to a leaden, but delicious pasta and now I can’t. My substitute, chickenparm, had buffalo mozzarella on it – not the right kind of cheese for that dish. It was barely melted and gelled quickly so it didn’t have any of that lovely pull of the cheese that it normally does. The chicken was bland. The other meals were also lacking. But my biggest complaint was that they didn’t inform us that we were In time for their early bird 20% discount. They are up for sale, but unless I hear otherwise, this was the last time we will be frequenting Sal’s.

The food, admittedly, is pretty basic Italian-American fare, but when you have a hopped up group of 14, and your server is upbeat and attentive the whole time, it makes for an elevated and enjoyable experience!

After a lazy day of sun, sleep and shopping. we decided to Sal. That random decision turned out to be a good one. Despite some of the negative reviews, our experience was excellent and nice cap off for our second day in P-town. We arrived at around 8:45 pm without reservations. That didn’t seem to matter and we were promptly seated at table with a view of the water. Our server came over immediately, explained the specials and answered our questions about the menu. Less than 10 minutes later we were enjoying wine and the fruit and cheese plate. Our meal followed soon afterwards. I had the stuffed flounder and my partner choose the lasagna. Both were ample portions and very tasty. Bread for the table was provided along with EVO and balsamic. We were too full for desert. All in all — a very nice evening and a wonderful meal!

We had a wonderful time las night at Sals. There was a group of 6 of us and we all had different things but everyone really enjoyed their food and lots of wine. We sat out on the patio but i was a little disappointed because it was all boxed in with plastic walls… i am sure it would have been chilly to be on the water but kind of ruined the reason to sit outside. Other than that the place and service were very solid

The hostess was super friendly and polite. The bus staff worked their tails off. Nina, the waitress, should flat out be fired. Rude. Slightly condescending. Catered to tables where a tip wasn’t included in the bill(6 or more). I believe if we had ordered alcohol she would have remembered or ask if we needed another round. The cooks prepared a better than average meal, except the steak. That could use some work. While some responsibility falls on the patrons to prepare for cool breezes, they did try to make the dining area more comfortable for the ones that were cold on this breezy night. Having said that, I would return once Nina fired. Until then, not a chance in hell. If this is the type of person they want representing their business, that’s their choice. We just won’t subject ourselves to that again.

The worst aspect of this restaurant was the service; the only person who was nice was the host — although, even he made a big stink about the fact that we accidentally assumed someone else was the host. Our server was so unfriendly, for no good reason. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt — maybe she was having a rough day but sometimes you just have to admit people are just plain unfriendly. Food was good, definitely not worth what we paid for — I could have cooked a better Mediterranean chicken at home. End of story, wouldn’t go back. I’d just go get a 20 $ pizza at spiritus and a 6 pack of beer and been much happier.

Our annual week in July to P-Town and we always stop for at least one dinner with a group of friends here. As always we loved this place as well as our friends. The food was amazing, drinks were great and the staff is always very friendly and attentive. We had collectively gotten the roast duck, scallops, pasta with meatball and the salads, a few of the apps including the bruschetta and everyone left very full and very happy. Keep up the great work and hope to see you at the very least in the fall before the end of your season!

My wife and I spend about six weeks a year on Cape Cod, and eat out often. Sal’s is simply spectacular. Our oldest son discovered the place this summer. It is off the beaten path and well out of the center of town. We’ve eaten there a couple of times this summer, and plan a few more trips before the season ends. We were served both times by Nate, a charming fellow who makes sure you understand the menu and was very helpful with recommendations on the wine list. The salads, appetizers, entrees and desserts were all exceptional. We’ve spent a fair amount of time in Italy — the food here is as good as any we had in Florence or Venice. The outdoor seating overlooking the bay is charming. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation, and wonder how anyone who cares about good food, good wine, pleasant surroundings and exceptional service would have anything but a great things to say about Sal’s.

Very disappointed. Mediocre food & the staff and kitchen will not make any accommodations! The vegan tempeh triangles were a 6 out of 10 and weren’t vegan as they stated on menu. I was excited because they have a «living well menu» with vegan and gf options but don’t have a complete understanding of these diets. The waiter said one of the desserts was” awful” and rolled his eyes behind a customer’s back. The view is nice and Pam(our server) was great but all other aspects lacked for a $ 150 bill! Eekk!

We’ve been going there for many years. Never had a problem with the staff or with the food. The Puttanesca sauce is the BEST! The quantity and quality are fantastic.

Loved the Kale salad!!! We were here last week(they close today for the season), so it was quite empty. We sat«outside», with a heat lamp right above us. Nate was a great waiter – he is a foodie, and loved to discuss what he liked about each dish, and figuring out what would be best for us. And he remembered that my wife wanted tea, and I wanted a decaf soy capacchino after the meal. !!! Not sure how it is during the season – suspect that low marks were due to it being quite busy during the season. At least while we were there, the food was amazing.

What a disaster! Have eaten here for years but not again. 4 adults and 2 starving children. Ordered pasta for children, one 5 course, one 3 course, and 2 entrees. Got first course, then second and pasta for one child then an interminable wait while second child starved. When entrees finally arrived waiter had not ordered entrée he had suggested. The second pasta was a whopping $ 25 for pasta and a meaotball. Best part of the meal — artisanal bread and olive oil, balsamic vinegar. Children left and waiter then offers dessert assortment and then brings wrong dessert ordered with Prix fixe meal. Excuse for delay-we ordered 5 course meal. Don’t know why I left any tip!!!

Weird place. We heard that Sal’s had undergone a transformation. I’m not sure if it was just cosmetic, but all of us found the food to be mediocre at best. To start, the waiter brought italian bread with olive oil/balsamic vinegar. The bread was chewy and tasted like it was day old and stored in a plastic bag. For an italian restaurant during a busy July 4th week, I would have hoped for really good, fresh italian bread to be served. For dinner, two people at the table got the same pasta dish — one with a meat sauce, the other with a tomato sauce. However, both got the tomato sauce, but only after two waiters came over to look under the light to see if there was any meat chunks! Whoa, not professional. I got the Greek salad with a side of pasta with the tomato sauce. The salad was extremely salty and just not all that good. However, it did help season the bland, over-cooked pasta with — get this — meat sauce! Thankfully, I’m not a vegetarian. I hadn’t eaten all day so I just ate as much as I could and went out for gelato somewhere else. Before we left, the waiter handed out, individually to each of us, his business card. I’ve never seen this at a restaurant, and I have been a waiter for many years. It just seemed odd.

Italian joint. Great view. Nice ambiance. In addition to a zillion meat options — they have a special menu for vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free. The only rec I have for the place is to serve warmer and fresher bread at the beginning of the meal.
