The food is pretty good. Same as Costa vida, only cheaper. I do like that Bajio has lower food costs. If you have a student ID you can get any of their specials any day, and they run around $ 7. The portions are big and really good, I particularly enjoyed their chicken. It has a really nice taste because they make it fresh each day. The staff is not the friendliest. They know how to cook really well and give good portions, as long as you aren’t looking for someone to greet you with a smile you won’t be disappointed.

I came here with a couple friends that swear Bajio is he best Mexican food around. Walking in I was overwhelmed by their enormous menu. The restaurants set up like Café Rio or Costa Vida. My friends recommended the chicken green chili quesadilla. I was a little skeptical at first, but then I took a bite and my eyes were opened. The chicken was kinda sweet with Cooked sweet onions and the right amount of chili. It was very filling with a side of rice and beans. You have a choice between sweet or Mexican rice, and refried, pinto, and black beans. The refried beans were really thick which I didn’t care for too much. But the sweet rice was good. They didn’t really slice the quesadilla so I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. The other issue was they don’t give oh sour cream or guacamole where other restaurants like this do with a quesadilla.

Generally my favorite restaurant in Mexican department but oh my god, waitresses checking us out was completely rude and when asked for the missing meal she got uptight and caused a scene in front of waiting customers telling me to calm down. I came in with 6 kids, and all were starving. I was polite when letting them know they left out the meal. Will not be returning no matter how much I love the food.

Provo, UT-this place isn’t the best. They charge you for any little thing extra. Ordering took forever, and the food wasn’t that good. Everything was similar but nothing special.

Food was okay. Café rio and Costa vida are better. But the service was terrible. I watched a worker roll her eyes at a customer. And another line worker was really sharp with a lady placing her order. Not impressed by the service. Won’t be back.

Did this place change hands? The new owners/staff seem very different than the last few years… and the food is also suffering. I’ve frequented this place for years and always enjoyed it. But today was a different experience. As I waited for them to take care of the dad and four kids ahead of me, I watched them sullenly throw food into bowls, barely talking to each other, barking out orders… cheese? Rice? Beans? In the process of waiting in line 10 mins(while they made a salad, burrito, chimichanga and quesadilla I watched them burn and throw away a chimichanga, a pan of sweet green chili chicken and two quesadillas. Speaking of the quesadillas, didn’t they use to make those from fresh dough that was soft and thick and delicious? Now they use Costco style premade dough that is tough and flavorless. A real step down from past years. When it came time for my salad they threw the burned chicken green chili into my bowl on top of salad and beans. They used to put a freshly cooked tortilla under the salad, noticing it was missing, and double checking the menu which references it, I asked kindly if it came with a tortilla. Without answering he turned away and spent five minutes while the tortilla cooked and my chicken went cold, then wrapped it up into a piece of foil and stuck it by my salad. Unwrapping it I found and undercooked tortilla that had glued itself together. It is always a bummer when a place you know and love falls like this, time to find a New Mexican place.

I’m a snob when it comes to food quality. I’ve been eating at Bajio 1 – 2 times a week for over a decade. The staff is always so friendly and they seem genuinely happy to see me. The chicken green chile is the main event here and their spicy cilantro ranch is the best around – it tastes great on everything! Their rice and beans have rich flavor without overdoing it. Café Rio tastes so bland by comparison and Costa Vida poops in their burritos.

GETTHESHRIMPSALAD. I crave this salad everyday. They cook the shrimp when you order in a skillet with pineapple and it turns out delicious. I also add mangoes for more tropical flavors. Yum!

If bad service and rude workers is your type of place, then Bajio is for you. I have a hard time going out and spending money at restaurants that make me feel like I’m a burden to serve.

Extremely slow service. Their process to get through to pay is abysmal. Been this way for many years. Never going back. Heading to Costa Vida or Café Rio instead.

I will admit I went here after being a die hard Costa Vida fan, and the results were suprising. I ordered their fresh sauteed shrimp quesadilla and it BLEWMYMIND! It was so incredibly flavourful! I was so excited that my wife and I came back again the next day and I got the same thing as it was just as good! The reason for the 4 stars is that my wife got the chicken and it was bland and my sister got the pork and it too was lackluster in flavor. All in all a good place. I will have to say this though, the customer service remarks in other reviews are a tad bit dramatic, alot of the atittude comes from language barrier and also the customers not being as quick to decide.

I had the Pineapple Shrimp Salad and it was delicious! This place is so much better than Café Rio. The Customer Service is great! Nothing but positive feedback!

We had decided to never go back a few months ago because of the crapy bratty service. It must be family working for family otherwise anybody with that attitude get fired immediately. My wife found a couple of punch cards with enough stamps on it to get a free meal so we stopped in today visiting the great boutique 3b Yoga and once again we were presented with what could be described as the world’s worst service. also when we presented them with our stamped cards they denied them. There is no expiration date on the cards so they decided it would be better to throw the food away then to honor something with their name on it. we decided to make our own food. for those who like their green chile chicken; get a bottle of green salsa add in a little apple cider vinegar and brown sugar to taste and mix that with your chicken you can barely tell the difference in fact it yours will be better.

I used to love Bajios and hadn’t had it in a while. It will always have better rice than café rio. Always. The sweet pork here though is not as flavorful as café rio! I got the grilled chicken salad and it was decent! Not quite as good as I remembered, but still good.

Enjoyed the food and the service was good! My sister and I hadn’t been to a Bajio’s for years and everyone was very helpful! We had questions about some new menu items, and received great recommendations. We had the grilled honey lime(?) chicken on a salad as well as a sweet pork salad. Both were delicious! Next time we are in Provo, we will be returning!

Terrible service, the female preparing our food was just throwing it around and seemed like was annoyed to help everyone in line. Food was mediocre but not terrible so I’ve given it two stars. Also someone took over after the initial order who was much more pleasant. There’s so many Mexican places around there’s no need to get below average food when you can go down the street in any direction and get better food. I will say their rice was good which usually is a hit or miss so in this case it was a hit the day we went in.

Didn’t get food or service. Showed up Friday night to get small meal to go. Friday Jan 2nd2015, I walked up to the door at 9:30, and this sign on the door said their hours Friday and Saturday were open till 10pm. Now I have worked as a manager of a restaurant in my past and I know it may be a bummer when some one comes in 4 – 5 mins before close, but this was half an hour and i wasn’t even planning on staying. All the employee were in the restaurant and clearly saw me and my wife trying to open the doors, but they just ignored us and refused to acknowledge our presence or to inform us why they where not open for their posted hours. 1 star because due to how staff didn’t even approach me because they likely make this a night habit.

Bajio is the underdog because of Café rio and Costa vida but we are overlooking a true gem!!! Does café rio/costa vida offer THREE types of beans or TWO types or rice?! The sweet rice is so good and sometimes I even get a mix. Bajio has several chicken options– green chile, lime, they have the sweet pork, steak, etc. I love that they offer a vinaigrette instead of the ranch and theirs is soooo good!!! Limey and tangy and sweet. Also, bajio offers a small salad option because not everyone wants a $ 9 salad that they can’t even finish!!! I love the small salad option and the daily specials you get with a drink for $ 6! Over all I think the prices and taste at bajio trump café rio and costa vida and I know many would disagree but whatever!
