For what it is, we enjoyed our stop. Have I had better waffles? Sure. If I were in the mood for a waffle and/or a hot chocolate would I happily eat here? Sure. We both had a liege waffle and a Belgian hot chocolate. Hard(for a guy) to make a breakfast out of the size of their waffles(even after I put banana and strawberry on it), but delicious none the less. Great in place of a coffee shop hang, but not big enough to not feel guilty taking up seats at meal time.

I’ll preface this by saying that I’m not a waffle fan, but I have to admit that these are good. Having had a decent amount of experience with authentic Belgian cooking, I will say that these waffles and fries are as authentic as it gets! Bruges is a fun place to stop by and pick up a quick order of chocolate filled waffles topped with fresh fruit and crème fraîche, with a side of fries of course. Don’t miss out on the hot chocolate either. Bruges has a few locations, and while I was at the small Salt Lake City location I was actually able to speak with one of the owners, who, wouldn’t you believe it, is actually Belgian. He was very friendly and talked for a while about his background and story. If you want a piece of authentic Belgium, don’t buy a plane ticket, stop buy and grab a waffle!

I am not into super-sweet food. Local tastes seem to skew in that direction, though. I like that there is a spectrum of sweet to savory offerings which I wasn’t expecting. The concept is similar to crêpe places that started popping up about 10 years ago. I love the atmosphere. The place is seriously charming. I am wondering if there are sidewalk tables in the summer. If so, I will be back. Just not if I’m super hungry. The portions could have been a bit more generous, especially for the price.

This place is almost too good. You like sweet? Get a delicious waffle. Wait you like savory? Get some homemade fries(or frites as they call them). In the mood for both? Well heck get both and a sandwich to top it off! The atmosphere in here is fabulous, very old fashioned with a modern twist. Prices can be a little too high but it’s worth every bite. I wish they had a little more room to expand. Great little place for a little pick me up on a gloomy day, or for a quick snack and study break.

Nous sommes contents. Les gaufres sont très bonnes et aussi les frites. The waffles and fries are very good. I have recommended this place to others. Warning though, you may see the waffle and think that it is not very big, but I’d be surprised if people could handle more than one. They are very sweet and filling.

Their fries are good. And The waffles are so good. I like the sauces too. Hmmmm… Pretty cheap. Just don’t sit by the door or you will freeze to death.

I think this place is pretty overpriced. We ordered the meltdown sandwich and a monster. $ 9 for two mini scoops of ice cream and a bunch of waffle bread didn’t really satisfy me. If I’m paying $ 9 for a waffle, I deserve a freaking big waffle. It tasted good, but I’m currently headed to Wendy’s because I’m starving.

I was hesitant to try this place as I was raised on frikandel«FREAKandel» and frites. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the frikandel’s flavor is close to the ones found in the Netherlands. It’s even less greasy than the common Dutch ones. The fries, however, are so disappointing. It’s my opinion that if you promote you are selling frites, then sell frites. Not just a little tray of overpriced French fries that I could have bought any place else. –1 star for that. It’s the most expensive frikandel and fries I’ve ever purchased but it’s justifiable as I am eating this nostalgic food in Utah.

This is one of my favorite places ever! Their Liege waffles are delicious — great selection of toppings as well. I love the combination of their waffles with their frites — it’s the prefect blend of sweet and salty! I usually get a waffle with either ice cream or cream and a fruit topping. If you order the large size of frites, you get 3 dipping sauces — my favorites are aioli, garlic mayo and fry sauce. I could eat at Bruges everyday!

Ever had a foodgasm? I walked in for lunch, uncertain about what I might order. The employee was very friendly and helpful, and he tried to offer me guidance. At the same time, he *really* kept pushing their waffles. «That’s what we’re famous for,» he said. Hmm. I was in the mood for a sandwich and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money… but I was intrigued, so I gave in. I ordered the cheapest sandwich on the menu(club), plus their most basic cinnamon waffle(liege). «You’ve got to ATLEAST top it with crème fraîche,» he encouraged. Okay, fine. Throw in a small soft drink and the next think I knew, I was only getting a few small coins in change from the $ 16 I handed him. I got my drink, gathered some napkins and utensils, and then I sat down to sulk. I could not believe I just dropped $ 16 on lunch. How could I let the guy talk me into all this? Geez, I am such a putz. I was now genuinely in somewhat of a sour mood. And then they brought out my waffle. There was a huge dollop of crème on it, so I kinda spread it around. Then I cut off a piece and casually put it in my mouth. Oh. My. Gosh. In an instant, my sour mood disappeared. Suddenly I was in heaven. The waffle was nice and hot, helping to melt the crème and letting the cinnamon flavor swirl all over my taste buds. The texture… the density… the whole experience caused me to start having a foodgasm right then and there. In an instant, I didn’t have a care in the world. All I could think about was this amazing waffle and how much I was savoring every last bite. It was incredible. The club sandwich was great, too. But even as I was eating it, all I could think about was when might I be able to come back here and have another waffle?

Seriously the best waffle I have ever had. Perfect texture and flavour. I’m addicted now. I had the Bruges favourite and it was delicious. We also got the shotgun sandwich, which was very good as well. The prices were cheap and they had a free waffle deal going on when you spend $ 10… So that was cool.

Okay so the waffles… they’re pretty good but leave a little to be desired. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but we can’t just let it go without compare to the rest of the planet. And this planet has a lot of waffles. Although Bruges is much cheaper than similar Belgian waffle chains, for example Wafles and Dinges in New York(which is pricey but undeniably delicious) I’d say the waffles at Bruges are bit behind in taste and texture and they definitely could’ve been better. Something didn’t feel warm and fresh about them. Also consider the location when it comes to pricing, NYC gets a little out of control in that arena so these waffles are almost half the price which is nice. But now the fries… these were well worth it at $ 3 or so for a small. Double-fried and full of flavor and crunch. Plenty of dipping sauces to choose from and they’re all homemade. I got Andalouse and it was exactly what I imagined in my head before confronting these fries myself. Lots of flavor, super creamy, and a little kick. 3 stars only because of the«pretty goodness» of the waffles which should always be warm and delicious. Don’t settle for«pretty good». If they only served fries, I’d give it a 4 or 5 stars. Go frites or go home!

Interesting concept but the food wasn’t anything to write home about. Definitely good if you need a quick meal but it’s very salty and not entirely flavorful. Prices were decent and the restaurant was clean.

I really didn’t know what to expect from Bruges, several of my friends had recommended that I check it out and one or two were so ridiculously enthusiastic that I was honestly a little put off. The atmosphere was pretty chill, to be fair it’s a walk up and order at the counter style place so it wasn’t likely to be terribly tense, and the décor was cute and unique, if somewhat hipster-rific. The menu is mostly fairly straightforward but there is more that one item for which we had zero context for/zero idea what it might be. Thankfully, the staff was very helpful. The woman at the register was very friendly and helpful, she answered all our questions(and I came in here with my mom so there were a lot) and she spoke fluent French which was pretty cool. The food itself was weird, but good. I enjoyed my… sandwich? Waffle taco? I’m not really sure what to call it. It was good, but definitely weird. My mother is definitely a convert to the church of Waffles and Fries but I’m not sure if I’ll be back myself. There was nothing wrong exactly, it’s just not really my bag. Having said that, I’m literally the only person I know that hasn’t raved about it so it’s entirely possible that I’m the one that’s wrong.

The torpedo was freaking amazing! We added the vanilla bean ice cream and the Belgium chocolate sauce! Aaaaaaah it was so good! My husband got the apple one and thought it was good and my kids got the traditional one with strawberries and cream and wanted another one! This was the first time ever having a dessert waffle anywhere. Defiantly would Come back. A little pricey but once in a while that’s ok!

I got the waffle sandwich with ham, melted brie and caramelized onions. It was alright. I did like the texture of the waffle though, it was fluffy and crispy, also flat enough to make it into a sandwich. The inside was quite lacking as I got only a little hint of brie flavor but none of the onion flavor. I finished it pretty fast because I was hungry, but I wouldn’t pay that much for the small size of this sandwich. The fries were crispy and delicious and the garlic aioli was very good! Overall, it was great to try, but I wouldn’t necessarily come back downtown just to eat at this place again.

Wife: I was skeptical about trying a Waffle place, thinking I would walk away feeling stuffed and bloated with sticky sweet doughy goo. But I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed a perfect portion of light, crispy waffles both sweet and savory and left feeling satisfied but not over stuffed. My husband and I shared an Italian waffle sandwich, a medium order of Frites with the Andoullase & Brasil dipping sauces, & a torpedo with crème fraîche and fresh raspberries. We LOVED all of it. Best fries we’ve ever had, best waffles we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back and bring foodie friends. Tight quarters. Don’t bring a stroller. :) Me: it was so good that I ordered another round of small frites with a different sauce — Pierre’s(the owner) favorite — the Zen sauce. I second everything else my wife said. Great experience!

Here’s the deal with Bruges, having been to their Provo, Sugar House, and SLC locations. The food is almost always really good. The torpedo waffle(stuffed with chocolate) is great, as well as the freakandel and machine gun sandwich, which are worth getting if you’re in more of a savory mood, along with the variety of dipping sauces. But it’s just so dang expensive for what you get. And not just a little bit, either. I never leave full, but I do leave having spent too much money on a bread-based product and craving a cheeseburger. Admittedly, they’re not alone in this. All of the waffle/crêpe places around here are basically at the level of highway robbery. It makes me sad, because I really do love the food, but if I“m gonna spend money eating out, I want to not still be hungry when I leave. I feel like if they lowered their prices, they’d get more business. Anyway, just my two cents. If you’ve got a ten-dollar bill burning a hole in your pocket, go.

Having eaten at Bruges in downtown SLC, I was really excited it came to Utah county. My husband and I decided to treat ourselves today, and we left mildly disappointed. First, however, the good: great ambience and atmosphere. Very nice employee working today(although note the singular), and quick service. I ordered the Lime Curry Tuna waffle sandwich, my husband ordered the Provo Waffle, and we shared a medium order of frites, which come with two free dipping sauces — he had Fry Sauce, and I had the Brasil(DELICIOUS). My waffle sandwich was generally really good. The lime was very zesty and tangy, and I loved it. Unfortunately, my waffle was on the very anemic side, with no crisp to it. It was almost soggy, which was very disappointing. I’ve had authentic Brussels waffle sandwiches in the past and expected it to be much crispier than what I had today. It was also cold by the time I was served, which was disappointing. My husband’s waffle didn’t fare a lot better — the vanilla bean ice cream was very good, but it was brick hard and the waffle wasn’t warm enough to melt it at all. I felt bad for the girl working alone — been there, done that — but there is a pretty large disparity between the downtown location and Provo. We didn’t really have a bad experience today, but it wasn’t as great as I was expecting.
