J dawgs is a Provo staple. I eat here weekly. Make sure you get lots of sauce on your dog. Mmmmmm

I am a J Dawgs fan. I love the hot dogs, I love the toppings, I love the shop, and I love that they are a Provo startup. I do not, however, like their prices. I’ll get to that later, let’s talk about the good first :). First of all, to those who keep referring to J Dawgs as Costco hot dogs, you have no idea what you are talking about, and you are just saying that because you heard someone else say it, who probably heard someone else say it… so on and so forth. Go to Costco, get the cheap dogs that you are referring to(not the more expensive branded hot dogs that weren’t even manufactured by Kirkland… which is the Costco brand) and try one in the same sitting as a J Dawg. Let me know how that goes. Anyway, the only thing I regret when I go to J Dawgs is not having the money to come more often… and the occasional beefy burp that may slip out at inopportune moments :). As for the dogs, I personally like beef over polish, but the polish dogs are also super yummy. I usually put all of the toppings on, because that is part of the experience!(except I usually choose banana peppers or jalapeños, never both). And make sure you try the sauerkraut at least once. You will be pleasantly surprised! The downfall is the prices. I know that J Dawgs is trying to make a living, but 4 dollars for a dog can get slightly pricey. Especially since I know how much they used to charge when they first started. That being said, I will continue to support them!

People like to knock this because it’s a simple idea, JDawgs is tasty. Must get the sauerkraut and celery salt. This is perfect for BYU game days as it is right next to the BYU Campus

Best hot dog on the planet. I do not like hot dogs generally, but these are amazing. All the ingredients are high quality and the combination of it all together is delicious. We first went to j-dawgs when it was in the little red shack. Now, over a decade later it’s still as good as it was the first time.

I just don’t get it. At all. I’ve had plenty of good franks in my life. Most of them have been dirty water dogs late at night, in various cities across the country. There’s somewhat of an art to a solid dog, but most of it comes down to ratio. The cardinal sin is having too much bun. There also has to be some flavor bomb that gives the dog some character. In New York it’s kraut with sweet onion tomato sauce. In LA it’s the bacon that wraps it. In Chicago it’s piccalilli… …in Utah apparently it’s a brown sugar and honey barbeque sauce. But sauce alone does not a good hot dog make. I’ve always found J Dawgs beef and Polish dogs to be on the dry side. It doesn’t help that the(also dry) bun hangs off the frank about an inch and a half on each side. Their kraut is boring. I always finish feeling highly unsatisfied. Long story short, it’s a bad hotdog with good sauce. Save your $ 4.

Dear J or J dog or whoever the owner is. As my wife and I make a trip cross the states we are hitting different dog places. Mainly because we want to see what other people are doing. We own a dog restaurant. I am very critical of other dog places. Although very simple you do it well. It’s obvious to me that you are serving a Coverdale product, which is quality. Service was good place was clean and well put together and the dog was good. The special sauce was great(very sweat). Keep doing it! To people reading this review. It’s not a full restaurant. For what they do, they do it better than most.

It’s a hot dog with secret sauce on it that you can find on google. I remember when it used to be the spot because it was special and unique It feels like they are a good place that had great potential but I will not give it more than 3. It’s good, but 3 stars good. 5 means it’s from God, 4 means that it’s on par with the Golden State Warriors and their season, and 3 means that it’s like a «go eat there, be happy, but don’t expect to rave». My advice, just get the dog. Soda isn’t good for you, but you can also save money that way. Water cup for the win.

Fast service. Delicious dawgs. Good price for the amount of full I feel after finishing the dawg. Mmm and the amount of deliciousness in their dawg sauce. Supporting local business.

My review is short and concise: Great pricing. 2 meaty, delicious hot dogs for 8 bucks. Steal. Always get their special sauce on your hot dog. It is so worth it. The place does great with emphasizing on a great product and toppings that accentuate the taste. Instead of your average toppings of mustard or ketchup(grow up if you still only put ketchup on your hotdog), you can get jalapeños, sauerkraut, onions, relish, salt, pepper, even celery. The service is great, the people know how to be friendly and that is because this chain is managed very well. The service is usually fast, and I’m out in minutes if there is not a huge line(once in awhile but even then usually I’m waiting just a few more minutes). Great to take friends!(except vegetarians).

I don’t usually think of getting a hot dog when I go out to eat, but a J Dawg is on a whole nother level. You can get an all beef hot dog or a polish, i prefer the beef. They slice halfway through the hot dog in criss crosses and then grill it up fresh. You get a nice little char on the dog and it is amazing. They are pretty big hot dogs to and the buns are really good. They have all sorts of topping to put on after like jalapenos, pickles, pepperoncinis, celery salt, and the best… J Dawg sauce. The sauce is like a sweet tangy spicy teriyaki/bbq sauce and it is amazing. I always get tons and celery salt too. The menu is really simple, you can get chips and a drink with the hot dog and that’s about it. J Dawgs is a provo staple, and freaking delicious.

I’ve eaten here 10 or so times. The ambiance is great and the dogs taste good, but I can never shake the(very oft-cited) feeling that J-Dawgs are just Costco hot-dogs with some really good special sauce. Definite plus that it’s close to BYU campus, but I just can’t endorse it when Costco gives you basically the same dog(albeit without the sauce) and a drink for $ 1.50. With that being said, I could not recommend a better place for two dudes to go and catch up. It really does have a certain ambiance, it’s kind of fun to eat there.

I had heard a lot about this place from a friend who would come here years ago. He raved about the special sauce! I get it now. Upon arriving we were greeted by the smiling employees, ready to supply us with hot wieners. The menu is simple – you want a polish dog or a beef dog? Chips? A drink? I like that they ask you what condiments you want after they have your dog ready. It speeds the ordering process along and gives you time to decide what you want. I got a polish dog with everything on it including the celery salt. Yum. A rookie mistake I made was saying no to the pickle. That’s right, pickle. It’s a pickle spear! Not those gross, out of the jar, slimy little pieces; it’s a real, tasty pickle. When I saw my friends’ pickles I went back in and asked for my pickle. Get the pickle, people, get the pickle.

BESTHOTDOG I HAVEEVERHAD. I have been to J Dawgs once before and remembers that it was so good that I had to come back again since I was in town. The service staff is fantastic and very friendly. The menu is simple. Polish Dog or Beef dog. So you better like hot dogs if you come here. The quality of the beef and buns are perfect and cooked very well. The location is small but just as big as in needs to me. I wasn’t crowded or busy. But we had the best hot dog we have ever had. The Jdawgs special sauce is amazing as well. It is like a sweet barbecue sauce that is custom made in store. I don’t know what’s in it but it is delicious. I hope you stay around for a long time. Jay dogs should be opened in more locations too. Like Arizona… where I am from.

I have long heard tale of the legendary hot dogs at j*dawgs in Provo. When I recently moved here, this was the first place we went out to eat. As we entered and looked around, I was surprised by the simplicity of the menu. I quickly texted my friends to decide what to order. I went with a beef dog with special sauce, pickles and onions. It did not disappoint. I can now share in the lore of these glorious hot dogs with future generations. As a side note, I loved the décor, vibe and staff. Will definitely be going back.

It’s ridiculous how much I like hot dogs, and this place does hot dogs right! The dogs are always cooked to perfection, the sauce is incredible, plus, they’re a Provo classic! Sometimes between classes, I stop at JDawgs for lunch. One day, I forgot my wallet and tried to cancel my order, I was a little embarrassed. The employee smiled and said«no worries! Next time you come, just pay for an extra!» and gave me the hot dog anyway. It really impressed me how kind their employees are! JDawgs has a standard of excellence that they strive to achieve and I have never been failed by them! Their simple menu, fun environment, and excellent staff make it worth stopping by!

These dogs are pretty good. You’re not going to find a better hot dog around, but you will pay for it. The 700 E location is great if you are on or around the campus. The building is a little small for how popular it is, so try to go mid-afternoon or so otherwise you might have to wait a bit and not have a place to sit. I’ve been eating J Dawgs since it was a little shack on the corner almost 12 years ago. Beef dogs are great, polish ones are good too if you like them. They are made to your taste so pick what you like and enjoy.

I’m not a hot-dog type of girl, however J-Dawgs has be in a tradition for my family when ever we’re in Provo. Their special sauce is unforgettable. It’s a sweet sauce with a little tang that pairs perfectly on their dogs. They do sell their sweet sauce by the liter for $ 10 — we use it all the time on chicken and in other recipes yet nothing seems to come close to the way it pairs with a J-Dawg. Their Polish dog is a little too heavy for my taste but if you appreciate a good braut, then this is the dog for you. If you’re in Provo, J-Dawgs is a must.

I’ve never been a fan of hot dos but this place is legit! They have all sorts of topping and you’ll def. walk out feeling satisfied. Another great thing is all their hotdogs are made of beef! No pork on my fork! The environment was clean and welcoming. But it was packed so there was limited seating available

THISIS A 3.5. I am very surprised by all the fives… you do realize five means, «doesn’t get better than this» when in fact… it really does for J Dawgs. Quick price rundown: Dogs(beef or polish) $ 4, Drink $ 2, Chips $ 1, and get this… a combo which is all 3… is $ 7. Their special BBQ sauce is REALLY good, but I do know some people dont like it with their dog… but I do so… poo on you. The buns are really delicious too. This is where I kind of have an issue… I can buy the same quality dogs at Costco(do they get their weiners from there?) 12 for… $ 4. So… they cost about 33.33 cents(continued). Thats a darn good profit for them. And the good news is because of the lack of good food in provo most people find this place to be… THESPOT! The reason i rounded up to four? The staff is nice, and the environment is fun. Tv’s and stuff. I think its a good establishment but«ASGOODASITGETS?» are you blanking kidding me? I’m barely a fan. The Verdict: Try it out. Its a decent place, youll find they serve beef and polish dogs… with a special sauce. I use to get diarrhea every time I ate here, but my stomach handles it much better now. Too much information? In all honesty I’m surprised you read this far into my review… I’m actually honored you did. Because you’re hot.

I will never get sick of this place. The polish dog is special made nearby, the special sauce is just the right amount of nuance for what is already a perfect meal-that being the hot dog. I have mine with special sauce then add spicy brown mustard and Tabasco sauce. I do wish it would stop going up in price. Stop. Please stop. I am already under your power and unable to resist. But please stop.
