The Provo Canyon Rec Trail is my favorite place for running and jogging. This gorgeous trail connects the Bridal Veil Park and Vivian Park. The trail itself is approximately 2.5 miles one way(~5 miles both ways) and is accompanied by stunning landscapes. You can access the trail from either the Bridal Veil parking or the Vivian parking. It is suitable for bikers, boarders, skaters, runners, and walkers. No motored vehicles though. There are two lanes on this trail separated by a solid yellow line, the smaller lane for walking/running and the larger one for biking and boarding. Make sure you stay in the correct lane when the trail is busy, for everybody’s safety. The trail is a gradual decline from Vivian Park so most boarders would start there and board down to Bridal Veil. I personally would not recommend starting from Bridal Veil unless you have a boarding stick. The decline is hardly noticeable when walking/running. Watch out for fallen rocks and snakes. I’ve seen some massive rocks the size of a small car sitting on the trail. They usually come down after some heavy rain. Snakes are usually only seen in the summer time sunbathing.

This is hands down the best recreational trail in Utah Valley. Once the snow clears this place is amazing. Some places are completely enclosed by greenery. There are two lanes, one to go up the canyon and another to come back down. Let me tell you my favorite things to do on this trail. Biking: A+ I’ve biked all the way up Vivian Park, but I’m pretty sure it keeps going all the way to the dam. This trail is amazing to bike because you get rewarded the second half when you bike back down the canyon. Always wear a helmet and stay on your side of the trail. Longboarding: A+ If you are an advanced longboarder, you’ll love this trail. The trail can get you going pretty fast, so wear shoes so you can bail, or just be really good at longboarding. The trail is usually kept clean of debris. Night boarding can be fun with a head lamp or a full moon. Be safe and always wear a helmet, you never know if you’ll hit a small rock, stick, or snake. Running/Walking: A+ There are a lot of runners, joggers, and walkers on this trail. It’s right next to the river and under trees so a prefect place to run. Warnings: During the summer rattlesnakes often come out on the trail to heat up on the blacktop. Keep your eyes peeled.
