Black Swan Cafe

How have we lived in Pueblo for nearly 30 years and never been to the Black Swan? This is the strangest little place — and we’re fans! They offer classic American dishes like chicken fried steak, breakfast served all day, and really good Chinese food! Based on its reputation I had to try the fried chicken. While not legendary, it was fresh, hot and very good. We also ordered a spicy shrimp with veggies and egg foo young. The sauce in the shrimp dish is to DIE for and the brown gravy on the egg foo young is oddly very very good! The place was full of folks who plainly were locals and regular customers. An odd mixture of foods, but all well prepared by a friendly staff. Yep — we’ll be back!

Ok so I had high hopes for this place after reading previous posts. I was sadly mistaken. The salad the serve is smaller then my fist. They watered down the salad to make the dressing stretch. I ordered sesame chicken the sauce was watered down. There was hair in my food!!! The egg roll was disgusting. And the fried wonton was the only thing really good. The tables were sticky… Big disappointment. It must be under new owners or something to have such a drastic change from previous reviews

Best Chinese food I’ve had in Pueblo. Great service too! I will definitely be coming back.

Not going to lie, this place was a little freaky.
Interior probably hasn’t been updated in 40 years with the surgical green paint and extremely worn carpet it just shows the many of meals that have been consumed here.
But the food was pretty good, an odd combo of fried chicken and Chinese food. I hand a little of both and it was pretty decent. The price was right too. The staff was hustling the whole time we were there. I’ll return next time I’m in town.

So they have gone through many cooks, some better than others but I always go back for a few things.
Chicken fried rice– perfect! They amount and price is great and the rice itself is sooo addicting! How can some rice, chicken, eggs, green onions, and bean sprouts be sooo addicting? IDK, but this CFR is def the shiz!
Fries and gravy! THE BEST! NO WORDS!
Chicken fried steak– ok, this is a chinese place, dont think this CFS would be yummy… OH YES IT IS! This is just the right amount of breading and meat! Not greasy and topped with their amazing brown gravy! YUM! You also get a side, which is fries for me!
Chicken– Now their fried chicken used to be soooooooo effing good! Since having it a year ago it was still super delish! IDK about now though. The breading is perfect, the chicken is tender and not super greasy. ITS AMAZING! the order also includes fries.
Egg rolls– AHH YUM! They arent your typical thin rice paper kind! Theyre the hearty delicious kind!
Sweet and sour pork– This is always cooked perfectly! Never overly greasy! The sweet and sour sauce is also spot on!
Now I havent tried much else, but what I have its super delish! Go here for a little night out!
