Pluses… Beautiful sunsets. Great swimming and boating opportunities. Fun free concerts on the weekends with local bands. Sometimes drive in theaters playing movies. Good food at The Cove and Annie’s Beach Shack. Minuses… When the park is overloaded with people(aka holiday weekends) the lower section can smell like sewer. Also the folks in the office checking you in are not friendly in the least. I’ve been here a million times over the years and they just don’t concern themselves with customer service. Come for the sunsets and to meet new friends(your neighbors). Nightly rentals and all season(May– October) rentals available

Finally! Happy to have recently experienced Brennan Beach, located on Lake Ontario’s southern shore in north central New York, for myself. My guy enjoyed summer weekends here – a number of family members rent seasonal trailer campsites – during most of his childhood, so it’s nice to have seen this slice of his youth firsthand. Beach, swimming pool, arcade, walking trails, playground, tennis courts, hoops, craft activities, flea market, general store, food, live music – it’s all at Brennan. «Anything a kid could want,» as my husband put it. We spent most of our day at Brennan relaxing and eating at family campsites, and we also did a bit of walking on and around the beach. There are some simple hiking trails, but be on the lookout for poison ivy; I managed to get a little rash even though I was actively looking for the poisonous plant and washed my feet and lower legs in a nearby restroom following our walk. There’s a cute snack shack at one of the beach entrances, and I was pleasantly surprised by the options available there. The smoothie – more like a slushy – I ordered wasn’t so great though. I’d have loved to try the haddock sandwich had I been hungrier. Brennan’s per-head fee for guests can be annoying, especially when the fee is doubled to $ 10 on holidays. No worries, with a little bit of planning and creativity the fee can be pretty easily bypassed. *wink* Though I can’t say Brennan is a place I’d want to visit more than every once in a while, I can’t deny there’s a bunch of stuff to do, especially for children.
