It was our first time kayaking in PIB(but not our first times on kayaks) and I am so glad we found and chose this place! We biked to it from our hotel at the resort conference center and there were bike racks at the state park next to the kayak rental. The lady who owns it was so super friendly and sweet. A little bit of a hippie, but she was a local(I assumed), so that’s okay! We got a kayak for each of us(my husband and I) for $ 20 each. We could have gotten a two person kayak for $ 40 but we each wanted our own. I see here on Unilocal that a double used to be cheaper, $ 35, which would make it the better deal than paying for two single kayaks, but oh well since we preferred single kayaks anyway and the price difference was nothing. We got to go out on the water for 2 hours, which I thought was reasonable, but would have preferred more time in order to really see everything! The water was very calm that day so we did not have any problems with waves from passing boats. We explored around Gibralter Island(sorry about the misspelling) and then quickly rowed out to the point at the end of PIB past Perry’s Monument over by Middle Bass I think(but the point and little beach are still in PIB). The water levels were very high and the water quality was not all that great(many algae warnings and the color at the docks was literally green) which was kind of a bummer. But I can’t wait to go back and kayak again! Highly recommended!

Had such a great time! Plenty of Kayaks to rent and at a great price! Me and a couple friends went out and kayaked around the different islands on Lake Erie — such a blast!

Shouldn’t miss, especially if you don’t have access to a boat and are only visiting for a couple days, like we were. Owner was great, provided great guidance for our afternoon, and wasn’t overly particular about the time.

Great party with fun people. Such a great experience, well worth the trip around the harbor to get there! Enjoy!

We rented two kayaks, one single($ 20) and a double($ 35) for two hours on July 6. We had a great time, kayaking the bay, and checking out Gibraltar Island. The owner lady was extremely, nice, providing storage for dry items and selling water for $ 1. Two hours is more than enough time since we didn’t venture to the other islands. The only downside is that there was so much boat traffic, including the Jet Express and Miller Ferries, that it caused alot of waves, which were kinda scary. You have to make sure your kayak is facing the waves so that you don’t tip over. So to get to these islands, you have to navigate the boat traffic, which seemed a little scary to us. Sort of like jaywalking in NYC. Anyway, the man who helped us in the kayaks was so kind and patient with us. We’re not newbies, but our bones are not so flexible anymore. He helped us into and out of the kayaks. I would give him 5 stars for his customer service! The weather didn’t cooperate, it was sunny, then rainy, but we had fun anyway. Be careful around Gibraltar Island, especially when the big ferries pass, it makes big waves against the rocks, which ricochet off of them back to your kayak, if you’re near it. We saw a couple of people almost tip over. We wore our life preservers, but we did see some foolish adults, take them off and kayak without them.
