Tokyo Japanese Restaurant

This is our go to place for fresh sushi. Tried other sushi joints in and around the Woodbridge area without much luck. Other places are either really pricey or lack in customer service. Been eating here for about 3 years now and haven’t had a bad meal. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. The food is fresh and the prices are average. We find it affordable for a family of 4 to eat out. The portions are of average size, not so much that you have a ton leftovers but not so little that you leave still feeling hungry.
Restaurant is located in the middle of a Marine Corps base with clean restrooms and great service. Highly recommend!

I’d give it zero stars if I could. Both Sushi rolls in a togo order were horrid. One was the wrong roll completely (ordered a spider roll and received something with fried octopus instead) Also fried rice instead of Yakisoba. But that’s just for starters.
The fish is far from fresh, my cats liked it, but after one look at it and the color, I’m not touching it. The combo fried rice we did receive in place of the Yakisoba is completely bland.
Will not be back.

I have been eating lunch here for years and the lunch specials are a great price. I find the sushi to be really good and fresh. The staff is always extremely friendly. The only non-​sushi dish I have ever ordered is the katsu, and I found it to be authentic and good. Homely and friendly, if you find yourself on base, swing by for lunch.

Was decent, I had the chicken Yakisoba. I ordered it to go. The staff was very polite. It was light on the chicken… should’ve just been called Yakisoba. I’d eat there agaim, but I’d realize that chicken is apparently optional. and it was in need of some soy sauce or something, like I said not bad but needs more proteins…
I’ll be hungry in an hour.

Decided to try Tokyo out last night and avoid going ‘off base’. After being in san diego we haven’t found any really good sushi here yet. Tokyo was pretty close, fair to slightly high priced but they do add in miso and ice cream depending on your order. We had a mix up with our order and part didn’t get made, the waitress corrected it and made sure we were happy before leaving.
Negative is the roll I got was huge and not tightly wrapped so hard to eat. But it was very yummy and the staff was friendly, we’ll be trying it again.

I love their Vegas rolls, the sushi is pretty inexpensive. If you order a certain amount or their specialty rolls, it also comes with miso soup and a scoop of ice cream. You get the most for your money.

By far the worst food I EVER had in my life! Gen tso chicken was soggy like they had fried it sometime this morning! Price isn’t worth the portions I’ve paid less for twice as much food that’s here! This will be the first and last time I’ll ever eat here! Don’t waste your time

Wonderful lunch specials that I find myself craving. This place has made sushi one of my favorite foods.

Friendly staff 4 stars. The food was a bit pricy for the food they serve. Met my expectations for the area and would come back. Almost want to rate it 2 stars but it wasn’t all that bad but wasn’t that good either.

Food was bland. Expensive. Not filling. I would go somewhere else for tasty food if you are hungry /​not excited to spend money for a little amount of food.

I can’t believe how close this place is to our house. The staff was very friendly. And food was good. Not fantastic. But it helped with my pregnancy cravings. I ordered the Age Tofu and Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura. The tofu was prepared differently from how I’ve had it in Hawaii but I liked it. The tempura came with a salad and miso soup. Salad was crisp with an Asian dressing. I’ve had better miso soup. The tempura portion was much more than I expected. I only ate 3 pieces because I was so full. The meal was a bit heavy for me since I rarely eat fried foods, but I enjoyed it. My husband got the ahi sashimi. He said it was good quality. He also ordered the shrimp ramen. It was good, but we are used to fresh ramen so he won’t be ordering it again. It was a nice first experience and we liked that they gave us ice cream. We’ll be back to try the unagi and udon!

Pretty good food. The Sushi was good but not wrapped tight so they fell apart. Good customer service and clean. It’s worth the price.

This place is not so bad. I got the chicken bento box lunch special and it came with 4 rolls of California rolls?, fried rice, chicken teriyaki, and salad. The fried rice was too cold, the salad was OK, chicken had a little sweet taste to it. The rolls were just ok, I’ve had better jap food.
They are quite small and they price their food a little too high. I probably will be back some other time to try their other stuff.

This is the closest sushi place. Great Service! But I must say the sushi is over priced and the sushi is not wrapped tight so it falls apart! I don’t like how you 12.99 for 8 PCS but they come small. Looks like I’ll have to find another sushi place!

Expensive terrible sushi! I wish I could give them negative stars. Rice was dry, poor presentation, over priced and dirty inside.

Not bad for teriyaki, the chicken Katsu was above average and huge portions. The bulgogi was good and had another decent portion. The sushi was however is below average not worth the price, might as well go to the comissary, it wasn’t gross or anything just definitely not worth it.

Small convenient location in the middle of Q-​town; well priced, very delicious… and free ice cream when bring out your check!

Absolutely happy and pleasantly surprised with our experience this evening for dinner! The waitress and sushi chef were so kind an attentive. She noticed when my husband used lemon for his salmon and brought him more! She also immediately gave me extra napkins when I spilled my soy sauce. So attentive and aware!!! Food came out promptly.
A pleasant surprise in the middle of Q town! They have our business while we are stationed here for sure.
Food is standard quality you’d expect at a sushi place and we will definitely be coming back— I am from California and grew up with excellent sushi all around me and this place is good quality! Prices reasonable for quality of sushi! Nothing overly fancy or extravagant… It was a welcome surprise when we were just on the lookout for a quick order of sushi! Turned into a full on dinner because we were so impressed.

This place is not good. The reason I was nice enough to give it 2 stars is because the food was good. It took about 45 minutes to get our food after we placed the order. There were 5 in my party and the food was completely wrong on 2 and one didn’t even get their meal. My order was wrong it took too long. They added things we didn’t even try to order to our checks. Have us a hassle when we asked for them to be removed. Also since when is tax 10%??
Never eat in here. If you get take out make sure it is right before you leave the place. If you’re in a hurry, don’t even bother.
