You might make more money and serve more clients if a) you accepted credit cards and b) had a functional ATM. Otherwise closest ATM is 15 min walk. Come on, its 2015 — get a credit card reader.

The food is freshly cooked. The arepas and empanadas are great. The chicken empanadas are tasty, well flavored, not too overbearing in the seasonings. Great hang out spot.

I’m giving 3 stars only because of the location! It’s on the boardwalk overlooking the beach, Dj playing music and Beer. Other than that, the food is all that great and it’s way expensive. So if you have some extra cash to burn, this is the place to go if you’re hanging at the beach and you want to end the day with a quick bite and some beers. I had the Chicken Empandas & Super V Arepa. It was eatable.

5 of us bikes form NYC and this was our destination after 3.5hrs cycling. It was a good choice for a destination. They offer a range of meat or veggie Arepas as well as empanadas. The pork shoulder Arepas(la de pernil) was great, roast pork with some tomato. Otherwise the de pabellon(beef with black beans & plantain) was another good choice. They have a separate queue for drinks and the passion fruit juice was delicious. They also have beers and frozen white or red sangrias. As a fun touch, each table outside(under shade) has a small bucket with jenga tiles in case conversations takes a lull. Now for that bike ride back…

ThEse Venezuelan arepas are delicious! Every time I go to the beach I make sure my family and I grab some areas from here. Sometimes the line could get very long but at the end it’s worth the wait

I’ve been here for the arepas on more than one occasion but on my last visit I noticed how unsanitary the place is! and I will not be returning! One worker, a girl at the counter who had gloves on was touching her face, scratching it, touching her earrings and instead of changing the gloves thereafter was touching YOUR food. I of course was disgusted and got off the line immediately. NEVERCOMINGHEREAGAIN! I do not expect the place to be perfect in sanitary means but that was so gross!

Best arepa in Rockaway. Feel like I am in Venezuela. Well recommended. They have Frozen sangria and cocada.

Arepas TODIEFOR. As a Venezuelan, I’m very picky when eating arepas. This place makes me feel in paradise. Every bite makes me travel back home! Their sweet plantains with salty white cheese are also a piece of heaven. Delicious! They have two other locations(East Village and Brooklyn). I’ve visited both and each of them is different from the other. But this spot just turned into my favorite Caracas Arepa Bar! They have long tables and music, all in front of the beach. The vibe is amazing. Perfect for a weekend at the beach. And the food is just INCREDIBLE!(They only accept cash so come prepared. Although they have an ATM in the inside, just in case).

Long wait but decent food with a friendly staff. Live band was good but too loud for our little one so we went to a nearby bench. It wasn’t as good as another Venezuelan arepa spot we frequent but overall very good. A bit on the pricey side for the portions but they are just riding the wave(pun intended) of the recent Rockaways boom! Enjoy!

Arepas are great! Cocada(coconut smoothy) is a most! This feel like back home in Venezuela! Arepas, Cocada, beach, sand and sun! Seriously can you find anything wrong? ???

Having been to the East Village location, I was underwhelmed by this iteration. They had no special arepa, so I went with the cheese arepa, which is listed as $ 5, but was told I should get the guayanes, then was told to fork over $ 6.50. No signature green sauce or bottles(the best part of our EV visit), just half a measly container. No liquor outside makes for very awkward chugging. Unexplained separate order/pick up in a corner getting everyone confused. Receipt lists Rockaway yet posts their BK Grand St address.

Who doesn’t love coming to the beach and enjoying a delicious arepa and sangria? This place is a gold mine but the prices seem to go up every year. 9.50 for an arepa ?! But I still put out.

I don’t know why I never came here before. This will definitely be my new go to place whenever I come to rockaway beach 106th st. I got the arepa with cheese, plantains, and avocado. Best thing ever! I’m a vegetarian but there were many things on the menu to accommodate everyone! It’s a little pricy but so worth it

Super feliz to see Caracas Arepas Bar back in action after Hurricane Sandy. I know this review is kind of late. I’ve been to this location before Sandy and after Sandy. This spot really lights up your beach trip, or if you are like me, you biking trip. I like this spot because you can put your bike against the rail and watch over it, drink some beer(tried the local Rockaway beer-decent but bitter), have some arepas(pabellon all the way), yuca fries(amazing with their sauce), arnold palmer with hibiscus and if you come on a weekend summer evening, live music and dancing. Only set-back is cash only :-(

The arepas are really good. You should get the beef arepas which also have maduros in them. They are really tasty. They have outdoor seating. My cup had a slice in it and was leaking, but it was easily solved by getting a new cup. Cash only. There is an ATM on site.

Yesterday I decided to search up some places to eat along rockaway beach, & upon seeing generally great reviews for this place, my friend & I ventured out. Needless to say, this place is absolutely AMAZING. We had the pabellon arepa & tried all the empanadas on the menu. I’ve never had arepas/empanadas this good EVER: super flavorful. A tadbit expensive for small portions but worth every penny! P. S. Do yourself a favor & order the twisted frozen sangria. Super refreshing.

Funky cool place right on the boardwalk from some tasty snacks on the beach. I got the La Fresh arepa with queso blanco, tomato and avocado. It was really good but overpriced. The arepas are pretty small. I also ordered a side of plantains that were really really good — hot and fresh with a side of more queso blanco. My one complaint was that the order took forever to come out. It was not crowded, there was no line when we ordered and the workers just seemed lazy and unhappy. All of them seemed grumpy especially the cashier. I noticed one guy grumbling about the wait and asking them to check on his order. Had it once and maybe I’ll have it another time before the summer ends but I don’t think it’s a must with the wait.

Summer is back & so am I at Rockaway this Place has become one of our favorites to visit while at the beach. The place seems more crowded than before which kind of sucks since of course your wait time will be longer aside from this the only thing that’s changed seems to be the name. Since my first visit I have tried the Gato arepa, fresh white cheese with avocado & sweet plantain this is melt in your mouth delicious. The Taro fries are a welcome treat, different & great tasting & the Chicken empanadas are good. I also tried the Frozen Sangria mixed both white & red pretty good as well as refreshing. I must say this place is great you can’t beat the cheap prices & it’s a welcome treat from the usual crap food choices u can find at the beaches now a days. Love this place, as long as it remains here I will continue to visit when I come to the beach.

Rockaway may still be missing most of its boardwalk and is still undergoing construction after Sandy, but on the food front, it is giving Jones Beach a run for its money. Who needs a burger or hot dog on the beach; a much, much better option is an arepa! Caracas is located at Beach 106th street and offers a bunch of picnic tables for seating. Place your order and wait for your name to be called. Drinks come out quickly, the food takes a bit of time, but it is totally worth the wait. The pernil arepa was jammed packed with tender flavorful pork that was enhanced by the hot sauce provided. It was scrumptious. The Super V was black beans, plantains, avocado and jalapeños, it was spicy and delicious. The arepa itself is crisp and light and just fantastic. I also tried the special Empanada Mamacita which included mushrooms and plantains, it too was very good. It is a little pricey, the arepas were around $ 8, but everything was so enjoyable and seems like the perfect beach food.
