I ordered for lunch today and received bad/old rice with string between the rice grains. 5 mns after eating, I was violently throwing up everything ingested. when called to inform the restaurant so that someone else does have to go through the same ordeal, I was told it is my fault and that I was already sick. No accountability for getting me sick and no courtesy at all. she even hung up on me. so what what you eat from this place…

I never understand all the hate this place gets on Unilocal and Seamless. I’ve ordered from many Chinese takeout restaurants in Astoria, only to get dismal food and measly portions. East Garden nails it and for such stupidly cheap prices– I can eat for days from one order here. I’m a huge fan of the Beef with Broccoli, and always get the egg rolls which are flaky and flavourful. They also make a mean fried wonton. The food is always delivered fresh, hot, and fast, even though I live a pretty decent distance away. Never had any issue with missing food or buggered orders. Hands down the most solid, delicious, and quick Chinese takeout I’ve found in Astoria.

I ordered a pick up. It was ready within 15 minutes. People were pretty nice to me. Cheap and good service. I totally recommend it.

I’ve been eating a significant amount of Chinese take out. Being Chinese myself, it is at times hard not to to expect that every take out place serving Chinese be of minimum quality. Knowing that, this place is still very disappointing. I ordered a Beef lo mein, and got a beef chop suey on rice instead. I also ordered a young chow fried rice, a popular Chinese fried rice, and mysteriously got a fried(if you can even call it fried) rice that looked nothing like what you would normally receive at even the worst Chinese restaurants. The biggest offense is that they somehow find a need to put fake crab sticks in the fried rice, an oddity I had never seen until today. Additionally, it was totally bland and nasty. So I will say that I will no longer be ordering from here, despite the ridiculously fast delivery and relatively cheap food. It did not even meet my lowest expectations.

Gotta give it to this place. I saw a lot of bad recent reviews and was hesitant, but the $ 7 minimum on Seamless attracted me. I ordered the Hunan chicken lunch special. I’d usually order a sesame chicken but I was wary of ordering anything fried based on past reviews. My order came in 20 minutes, hot and fresh. Big plus. Also they give huge portions. Wonton soup was just okay but came with 5 wontons instead of the normal 2 or 3. The actual food had lasted me 2 meals. One con and that’s that I ordered brown rice which they forgot but no big deal. As far as Chinese takeout goes, 4 stars, but probably closer to 2 or 3 in the big picture. It’s a standard Chinese takeout.

There is a certain bar for takeout chinese, and that bar is pretty low. This place is below that bar. Chicken and broccoli was off, and wonton soup was weird as well. My co-eaters said there meals were bland. Soy sauce all around. On the positive side, delivery was fast and accurate.

I was craving Chinese takeout on a Saturday night in. As I flipped through all the options on GrubHub, I stumbled upon East Garden. Since it had 4 stars and the reviews seemed decent, my boyfriend and I ordered. I got the beef & broccoli with roast pork fried rice and a spring roll on the side combo. The beef was a bit watery but the broccoli tasted crunchy enough. The rice was as it should be– fluffy and slightly greasy– and the spring roll was standard. My boyfriend ordered the chicken curry with the fried rice and egg roll combo. The chicken was a little spongy, curry was decent, greasy rice and the egg roll was nice an fried. If you want quick and decent Chinese takeout, this is your place.

They’re pretty good. But whatever you do, just don’t order the 1) pork steamed dumplings — which literally had a skin to filling portion of 9 to 1. Skin also tasted like frozen dough and more or less had the bite of a Hershey’s bar. 2) Young Chow Fried rice, which was a) not fried b) sticky rice? If I wanted Japanese style fried rice, I’d order it in a sushi takeout bro. 3) Onion rings. Half soggy, half crunchy. Small, boring, supermarket style. Oh wait. That’s everything I ordered. Ah well, better luck to you perhaps.

I’ve ordered from here a few times and it’s completely hit or miss. All fried food I’ve had from this place has been nearly swimming in oil. The rest has been okay for the most part… but after two times(due to lapse in memory) of getting sick from eating their food, I can’t recommend this to anyone.

Great at specific things. My go-to items are APPS: steamed shrimp dumplings, crab rangoon, Soups: wonton, hot sour; Mains; chicken w string bean, happy family, seafood delight, Ma Po Bean Curd, singapore chow mei fun. black bean sauce chicken One of my friends stops here every time she visits me. She lives on the UWS, but says the food here is better than any Chinese in her neighborhood.

very cheap and very reasonable, and great vegetarian options! I order their General Tso’s tofu. It’s not the fried type with the kind of tempeh meat substitute, but more the pre-fried dried bean curd you can buy at an asian market with general tso’s sauce on it. It’s really not bad. Also got the vegetable steamed dumplings — pretty solid. And the steamed broccoli in oyster sauce — very good! The portions are very generous, and it wasn’t overly greasy or salty. Like others have said, it’s not knock you off your socks delicious, but it’s a great deal and good for the price. I’ll totally buy from them again.

First and foremost, it is absolutely possible East Garden has created a network of fake Unilocalers to spread the lies of Mao, himself. 715PM we hastily order our first Chinese food in our new LIC residence, and low and behold we find that East Garden has decent reviews, so we engage. 820PM our«food» arrives. We unpackage the items that were labeled to be Sesame Chicken, Dumplings, General and Lemon Chicken to find that they themselves may have been hijacked and replaced with other grub/filth/Nast that we had just tipped some butthole $ 5 to deliver to us. At this point, I’d tip him another $ 5 to get it the hell out of here for us if he was still outside our door. Please, for your own sanity, don’t order this filth — find something under the Queensboro Br. to eat tonight instead. The peach snapple was delicious, though. hothotheat

It’s not the greatest Chinese food I’ve ever had, but then no take-out place can ever come close to the late great Lums of Flushing(may it rest in peace), which forever ruined me for any other Chinese food, *especially* take-out. That said, this place delivers on quality of food, and while some dishes are a bit ho-hum, the ones that deliver(pun intended) really deliver. Tops for me are the Singapore Mei Fun and the Young Chow Fried Rice, which we order every time. First time I saw the YCFRice I thought something was wrong as it lacked the traditional golden/yellow color of typical Chinese fried rice. It was white. And great. I now try to hide the container when it arrives to keep cavone #1 away. But here is something that might put these guys over the top if you’re on the fence: customer service. Yes, I said it. I often order online at GrubHub(these guys are not on Seamless, jot that down) and they«do not deliver» to my home according to GrubHub. So I take care of the transaction online, wait 5min and call them and they happily deliver my order. So I can use my credit card and get my delivery. Nice. But that’s not so much good customer service as plain good business. Where the good customer service comes in is when you call they speak English. So far, every one of them. Not perfect English, mind you, but completely functional English. That’s a treat. But wait… there’s more… Often the«free» items(spend $ 20 get this free, $ 30 get that free…) seem to get lost in the online ordering translation. Or the occasional order gets screwed up.(note: they’ve never *not* sent me something, but have on occasion sent the wrong item.) So what do you do? You pick up the phone, tell them that this is missing. or wrong, or they sent you free soda instead of free fried rice, and what do they do? Most every other place that I’ve ever dealt with(admittedly this is not an every-order event) says in their worst broken English«…you tell me again when you make next order…» and expect you to a) remember to cash in the next time you order(I never remember) or b) give up and let it die. I get that they don’t want to send their guy out just to bring your pint of free fried rice. Or free soda. Or whatever. 1 item. Waste of time. I get it. But East Garden sends the guy, and not 70 minutes later, but then and there. He delivered missing/correct items ten minutes after the call last time. 10 minutes! TLDR: East Garden’s food is a solid 7 out of 10(some dishes higher, nothing I’ve tried lower), and consistently so. Their customer service and delivery time is a 9. You do the math.

East Garden has the freshest rice of any divey American-style Chinese takeout in Astoria and, for my money, most of New York. The portions are enormous, and with about $ 22 bucks you get enough chow for at least two dinners and two lunches. Rain, sleet, snow, or hail be damned, delivery is lickity-split and the food is always hot and fresh. Recommendations include: Steamed Pork Dumplings, Wonton Soup, Vegetable Lo Mein, Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, Hunan Beef, and anything steamed from their patented«Health Food» menu option. My one complaint would lie with their saucier, fried, and generally less healthy choices. The fried chicken they use in their General Tso’s and Sesame dishes leaves much to be desired, as it is often scant on chicken meat and primarily composed of chewy fried morsels. Maybe this is a good thing though, because if their saucy fried dishes were as good as their steamed ones, I would be much fatter. Tips to keep in mind: — Be sure to request chop sticks when you place your order. Otherwise they will not be included with your delivery. Same goes with chili oil and fortune cookies. — Do not order and then take a leisurely shower or take the dog for a walk. The food is going to arrive much quicker than you expect according to traditional Chinese takeout logic. — The wonton’s are homemade and wonderful, so you should always ask for the Wonton Soup as your«free thing» unless you are really craving a soda. I think an order of $ 15 or more gives you this option.

Ordered from here while in town for vaca. The food was OK. Quick, fast delivery. You get a TON of food for CHEAP. Dirt cheap! They also have no sodium options, which works real well for me, being on a restricted diet. The food wasn’t too bad. They did the job and fed my stomach. Can’t be mad at them, right?

Helping my daughter move to Astoria, we found a menu on the doorstep of her apartment building. Good thinking. Chinese. I picked up the phone and ordered from their very extensive menu, very easily, I might add. They delivered in less then 30 mins. and the food was great and very hot. All came to $ 30., with tip, for the 3 of us. Would do it again. Great takeout.

Cheap, fast and tasty Chinese delivery open till midnight seven days a week. When a craving struck, we ordered a few combo plates(prices range from $ 6.85 to $ 7.40), which come with fried rice and your choice of one of the following: wonton soup, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup or an egg roll. Delivery arrived in less than 30 minutes and all of the food was piping hot and less than $ 30(with a generous tip). This is definitely a solid choice for take out!
