Had a bad experience here. I walked in on a Sat afternoon asking if I can get an eye exam for contacts. I was asked if I was going to buy contacts as well, I said no. The doctor then told me I would have to make an appointment and come back for the eye exam the next day.
Then comes the next day and I get a phone call two hours before my appointment from an assistant telling me that my appointment has been cancelled and I can come in next weekend if I wanted to. This was ridiculous and clearly they made the excuse up because I didn’t plan to purchase contacts from them. Just a waste of time and not necessary.
I went next door to the eyeglass factory and got much better treatment. The doctor was able to provide the eye exam without any issues and did not try to pressure me into buying contacts. I ended up buying contacts. Don’t waste your time with this guy. I’ll be going to the eyeglass factory from now on.

Used to come here for years until one time I needed prescription for my contacts so I can fill it somewhere else. Guess what Michael did? He kept giving me an incorrect prescription that no one else can fill. He kept saying that it was right and other places said there is no brand of contacts that will have that specific fit. How manipulative. I stopped coming after that. Not ethical.

I’ve been to this place for about 10 years now and I usually get a new pair of glasses every other year. Michael, the owner of this store, is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. This review might be inevitably a little bias since Michael is a family friend.
Tucked inside a small store front, Mandarin Optical has a wide selection of frames (even Japanese ones). Their prices are reasonable and they always do a good job with my glasses. They do let you come back to get your glasses fixed (minor stuff) for free like getting a new screw or tightening the glasses, etc.
Speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Takes credit card and some insurance plans.
