If you like sandwiches in general and is currently near the Elmhurst area? Come here! The vietnamese sandwiches are decently priced and turnaround time is quick. I have been here a few times already and tried different banh mis and they are all good. My favorite sandwich so far is the lemongrass chicken sandwich. They use chicken thighs so it’s juicy and complimentary to the lightly pickled carrots. On top of having good filling ingredients, the bread is also crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a requirement of any good vietnamese sandwich. The fries are alright and good in a pinch if you want a side to share. Since the sandwiches are so large, you can probably do without and just enjoy the deliciousness of the sandwiches!

My god, this place is everything. Their food is so flavorful and so satisfying. Their price point is perfect also. They could use a little more space but it’s no big deal, I’d stand around to eat here because waiting to get home to eat their food is tortuous as I don’t live that close. Can’t wait to try their other offerings. It’s kind of easy to miss because it’s in the middle of some sort of shopping strip but keep your eyes open or you’ll miss out on these delicious eats!

Obsessed with this place! The sandwich are so good!!! And the fries. I typically get the caramel pork sandwich with the kimchi fries . PS: there taro milkshake bubble tea is the best I’ve ever had!!! The prices are ridiculous cheap considering how good the food is !!! I’m lucky enough to live in the neighborhood but it’s definitely a must try if you’re in Elmhurst

I can’t believe i haven’t written a review for JoJu yet! I have 19 check-ins here as of today. My love for JoJu goes faaar back, before I became a serious and committed Unilocaler so I’ve most likely eaten way more than 19 JoJu sandwiches. They have one of the best breads for banh mi! My all-time favorites(you can’t expect me to pick just one, can you?) — bulgogi — lemongrass chicken — bbq pork — caramelized pork(minced) — joju monster(bbq park, ham, headchese(coldcut), egg) — Kimchi or JoJu Fries(one order of this will fill you up and also let your taste buds party) Get the runny egg(+$ 1.25) to enhance your experience. For less than $ 10, your stomach and taste buds will seriously thank you. Note: 1 stamp for every $ 10 — 10 stamps will get you a free original JoJu sandwich, fries, or drink. It used to be 1 stamp for every sandwich but they changed that last year.

Banh mi fries were definitely worth getting. I love the texture and taste of the fries. They were cooked perfectly. The sauce and toppings were what you’d expect and actually tasted very nice. Loaded is better, FYI. The cheesiness of the egg mixed in with the fries just made it taste way better. I’ll say that I was kind of disappointed in the pork belly sandwich. The belly was tasty, but the fixins didn’t really complement each other that well and there was nothing super special about it, other than the uniqueness of the meat used. Next time, I’ll try some of their drinks.

The sandwiches here are the bomb! I’ve only tried the bulgogi and bbq pork, but I am already in love with the pork one. It’s so succulent *drools* The food is worth every penny and I would eat this over subway any day as they are the same price or even less. I also love their matcha bubble tea which I get with no sugar. I’ve tried their kimchi fries and they were a little salty for my taste. Décor is nice. Seating can be limited and sometimes it is quite crowded. I wanted to be all healthy this year, but then I started eating Joju. Then I got addicted to their food. What is life. Come by, it’ll be worth it!

This place isn’t as great as it used to be. Seems like the Banh mis meat portion has decreased. Still taste good, especially when topped with a running egg. The bulgogi & lemongrass are on point. I hear the pork is good as well. Prices are moderate. The décor is all right, usually crowded. Could use more space. The staff is the best I’ve seen in Elmhurst. They hire local youth, which is a plus. They are always friendly and helpful, I’m very indecisive. Still Wayy better than going to subway.

3.5 stars This is still a great place to grab some banh mis, but it’s just not as good as it used to be. We always order more sandwiches then we really should. Our favorites, beef bulgogi and pork belly, but I always get at least 1 lemongrass chicken for my mom and whomever else. I’ve tried the caramel pork but I don’t really care for it though I think I’d rather eat that then the chicken. Their chicken banh mi lacks flavor, I don’t really taste any lemongrass or any grilled flavor, but it was actually one of my favorites when they first opened. I don’t mind the lack of meat that others complain about since I do like all the pickled veggies. Joju doesn’t really come close to Num Pang, but it is cheaper and the loyalty program does bring me back once in a while if I’m in the area. They give a free regular bubble tea with a 5 sandwich purchase and a free sandwich if you buy 9? If my drink wasn’t free, I would not have bought one, since their bubble teas aren’t very sweet and the balls are a lil mushy.

I was never really a Vietnamese Sandwich person because the shops I tried in Chinatown have dry hard bread that cuts your mouth and dry meat that makes you choke. But this place makes me rethink my dislike for these sandwiches. This place has the best Vietnamese sandwiches! I tried the Monster Joju, Pork Belly sandwich, and Kimchi Fries. The Monster Joju didn’t taste anything out of the ordinary, pretty plain. But, big but, it still tasted much, MUCH better than the ones I’ve had in Chinatown. The Pork Belly sandwich was the best Vietnamese sandwich I’ve tried in my entire life! The Kimchi Fries… I didn’t know that french fries could taste any better than it already does. Must try the pork belly sandwich and Kimchi Fries!

This place is da bomb. Placed an order to go. Love their Kimchi Fries. The potatoes are fried and smothered in spicy mayo with Kimchi. Once you bite into a french fry it is crispy blended with the spicy Kimchi. Had to drink an extra glass of water. It’s the texture and the taste. Just pops in your mouth. They are definitely addicting that’s for sure. The Beef Bulgogi was encased in a crusty baguette cut in half. Filling was chopped beef with Kimchi. Loaded with shredded carrots and daikon on the top. Good thing it was not as spicy like the Kimchi fries. I’d be drinking from a hose right now. Will definitely be back to try their other Vietnamese Sandwiches and fries.

It’s nice to stumbled on a random delicious food once in a blue moon. At least that chance is higher than winning power ball you know? After a long day of walking in New York, we had to find a snack once we got off the train and tadaaaa… JoJu popped up when I Unilocaled for it! This spot is quite small but with decent amount of tables. We came around 3 or 4 so it wasn’t that packed yet. It’s very similar to boba milk tea places but with a lot of yummy snack choices! |Loaded Jojo Banh Mi Fries| $ 5.99 The most famous item on their menu. So of course I had to try! It’s famous for a reason right??? I got well done egg with it and it was bomb dot com! The fries were super crispy with melted cheese AND the special flavor… banh mi ingredients(Vietnamese sandwich)! Not sure why no other place in California try that yet since banh mi is sucha popular item over here. I mean if you still have doubt… just think about it. You can’t go wrong with fries or egg or cheese right?

Come hungry, these banh mi’s are massive! Love the concept of the place, the flavor combos of these«modern» sandwiches are creative yet also obvious — why isn’t anyone else doing this? Sandwiches really are the perfect vehicle. They’re jam-packed with protein and veggie goodness, definitely add an egg for extra sauciness(the magic of runny yolk), and leave the wrapping on because things will get messy. We got the #11 bulgogi«bomb me» which was amazing, and the #6 kakuni pork belly which was also good but a simpler sandwich. The pork belly isn’t very fatty, and the sauce reminds me of «hongshaorou,» a sweet bbq asian flavor. We also ordered loaded kimchi fries, which is like an asian version of «animal style» fries at in-n-out — can’t get any better than that. 1 banh mi and an order of fries could probably feed 2 people very well, but honestly they were so good we got a sandwich per person. No regrets.

My dearest sandwich shop, JoJu. How I long for your Beef Bulgogi sandwich! Just thinking about your sandwich is making me salivate… This is HANDSDOWN my favorite sandwich shop. I have been coming here religiously since they first opened. This place has never disappointed me and has only gotten more popular. The Beef Bulgogi is by far my favorite sandwich of all time — perfectly soft yet crunchy bread generously laid with their succulent bulgogi beef. Beautifully pickled, shredded carrot and turnip adorn the beef to add freshness and to lighten up the sandwich. Every flavor profile seems to be represented in this fusion sandwich. Truly, everything I could ever want is in this sandwich. I have tried a few of their sandwiches, and while the Beef Bulgogi sandwich still reigns supreme, I would recommend the Lemon Grass Chicken sandwich for second place if someone doesn’t want to have beef. The fries are very good as well! If you love asian flavors and appreciate a good sandwich, you should try to make your way to Joju!

This is my favorite Vietnamese Sandwich spot! Only downside is the location, they need to get a manhattan location asap. All their sandwiches are amazing, I highly recommend their pork belly! If you’re not a fan of pork belly I can’t talk to you but all their other sandwiches are amazing as well. Word of advice: always and I can not stress this enough always add an egg. The warm yolk exploding as you take a bite of this sandwich is amazing and really adds to the flavor. I also love their Kimchi fries, if you’ve never had it get it now and you can thank me later. Great food, service has been somewhat inconsistent but I think it’s due to their turnover in staff, which might be due to the young age of some of their staff members. Must try if you’re in the area!

I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time. Finally ordered some take out — Pork Belly Banh Mi — the pork belly was a bit too thick for a banhmi, but it was flavorful. Too much for me though. Classic Banh Mi — yummy! Banh Mi fries — Yep, these are the money maker. I like the spicy mayo taste and that they stayed crispy after a while. Slushes — I had the white peach and tried the passion fruit, both tasty and the best part is that they are super cheap. I’d go back for sure, but try out other Banh Mi’s.

Joju!!! Why are you so far from where I live? Why do you make parking so difficult? My go to Vietnamese sandwich place in queens. Everything here is amazing. From their bahn mi sandwiches to their fries… Yummmm…

Joju is a no-frills, fast, modernized Vietnamese sandwich shop in Elmhurst. Its great for a quick take out dinner or a low key night with a friend. I’ve tried JoJu from previous Unilocal events, and I liked it! And my friend raved about Joju’s runny egg in the Bahn Mi. So I decided that their Bahn Mi was worth a venture into Elmhurst. My friend and I ordered the bulgogi Bahn Mi, caramelized pork Bahn mi, Kim Chi fries and pickled lemon drink. Their bulgogi beef Bahn mi is wonderfully fatty, juicy and buttery. It tastes delicious. Carmelized pork Bahm mi is perfect. Sautéed ground fatty pork scooped inside a crispy baguette. Don’t look at the bread though. Lots of fat soaked into the bread. Perfect with the runny egg. Kim Chi fries– the Kim chi was a little mild but the velveteen cheese with jalapenos is on point. Pickled Lemon drink– Only order this if you like pickled lemons. Its salty and sour. Very good with fatty, fried, oily foods. Warning: its Very salty! If you don’t like pickled fruits, this is not for you!

Ordered: Loaded bahn mi fries, Caramel pork sandwich, and Jasmine green tea bubble tea Pros– The sandwich was the best bahn mi I’ve ever had. The pork was hearty and well seasoned. The caramel taste wasn’t overwhelming. It was nicely balanced with the pickled carrots and daikon. I liked that you were able to customize the sandwich. Cons – Since the fries had a heavy breading, the dish was in need of something to lighten it up – maybe a little sour cream or more runny egg. The bubble tea’s bubbles tasted like hand lotion.

How hard is it to make a sandwich? After eating many sandwiches that didn’t measure up to par– I found a restaurant that met my standard for banh mi. Joju is a cozy restaurant located in Elmhurst, Queens. There are a lot of Asian cuisines in the area. The staff was very nice and polite. It was a bit crowded in the establishment, but it was quickly moving. I ordered the bulgogi sandwich. I requested it to be spicy. It was ready in roughly 5 minutes. Can’t beat that service speed. The bulgogi sandwich was delicious. The daikon, carrots and cilantro were very fresh and tasty. The actual bulgogi was very flavorful. The sandwich was a mix blend of different texture and taste that came together perfectly. The sandwich was approx $ 7.50 after taxes. I highly recommend a visit if you are craving a banh mi.

JoJu Banh Mi Fries $ 4.99 — by the looks of the pictures, I knew this was going to knock me out. Mayo, special house sauce topped with carrots, picked daikon, chopped cilantro and jalapeños. Perfect for sharing. Beef Bulgogi Vietnamese sandwich $ 6.99 — I asked for spicy. Contents: sliced rib eye with kimchi on a toasted hero. First bite had me sold. I’m officially a fan of korean/Vietnamese fusion cuisine. Sandwich was filling. About 11−12″ long. That’s what she said. Kakuni Pork Belly Vietnamese sandwich $ 5.99 — the pork melts in your mouth! Fatty pieces of pork packed in this sandwich. So good. Contents: Japanese slow braised pork belly. Also asked for spicy. ^ both sandwiches were not as spicy as I thought they would be. It was more of medium hot taste. Medium Vietnamese iced coffee $ 2.75 — needed this after finishing my meal. Nice strong blend that kept me up on my drive back to the city. Medium Thai iced tea $ 2.75 — authentic Thai iced tea without a ton of sugar. Refreshing and great for a hot summer day. Current promo get a stamp for every $ 10 you spend. After 10 stamps you’re able to redeem an original banh mi, or fries, or drink with your loyalty card.
