good spot, service could better. But the food is good if they arent crazy crazy busy.

This place was okay. I feel as though it was super salty but I believe Punjabi cuisine is like that. I went to this place with my boyfriend for our 1 month. I bought the fish curry and it was salty but delicious. We got Roti, a vegetable fritter dish and he got a chicken dish. I am super bad at remembering names so I apologize if its not very clear. However I did love the dessert. It was like two small cake ish patties(?) In coconut milk? – So bad at this @-@ I will reupdate this ASAP. Went here a second time, stayed simple and got butter chicken and it was delicious! super creamy with a hint of sweetness and tart. Definitely the go to spot in the area. Can i say that if i dont know what i’m reading, it’s authentic? hehe.

Best Punjabi food in New York and the ambience reminds you of eating joints back home in punjab(if you know what I mean).

This place is awesome! Suchhhh good Punjabi food! It’s also two blocks away from the gurudwara so you can kill two birds with one stone and do mata tekh before sitting down for a solid meal here(Assuming you don’t eat langar). Best part of the place is that it’s BYOW(no that’s not a type). I’ve been to several BYOB places in the city but never to a Bring Your Own Whiskey place. Conveniently next door there’s a liquor store which I’m sure does well given the amount of people that come to this restaurant. We ended up making best friends and exchanging numbers with a few Punjabi cab drivers on the table next to ours. We call one of them Baba Ji because he was that awesome. Love this place and would def come back!

What can I say about PV. Really really good authentic north indian food. As authentic as it can get in USA. Their lunch buffet is 6.99. Of course its not all freshly prepared(some of it might be leftovers). But hey, for 7 bucks if you get all you can eat buffet with good tasting indian food, I am not complaining. Plus they close at 4 am in the morning. I strongly suggest sticking with the chicken though. Seafood and other meats, not their strongest points. Plus its BYOB. Can it get any better? Also, their chef changed recently. The earlier guy was way way better. But I suspect this guy will get better as time goes by. No fancy smanshy bullshit. Straight up authentic indian food. Take it or leave it.

I rarely ever go out to eat Indian food. This is the only place I’ll order from if I want an Indian food fix and am too lazy to cook. The food is phenomenal and so flavorful. They do take a while to prepare your meal(30+ minutes) — even if its take out, but thats because they make it right then and there. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. They don’t make a bulk supply of a dish and freeze it to use for an entire month like all other restaurants. Yes they actually do that. Most of them at least. You can tell the difference in taste, tastes like a homecooked meal. Try the Saag Paneer, Butter Chicken and Butter Naan. Mmm… so yummmy. I personally don’t enjoy their Kabobs. So if I were you, I’d skip out on them. The Paneer Makani and Palak Paneer aren’t as good as the Saag. Also before leaving, make sure they have provided you with your entire order. Sometimes they get so busy they’ll forget to put in your Naan. I wouldn’t recommend eating in, always go for take out. And lastly, finding parking is a hassle. And thats all folks.

Undoubtedly, one of the best foods served in New York. Food is great, even the environment with Amitabh Bacchan movies. Butter chicken was classic. Got 4 stars only coz of little slow service

The first few times I ordered here the food was great, it reminded me of my mums home cooking. My husband and i were so excited that we found a place with good real punjabi food, we would spend $ 45 – 50 ordering delivery. Unfortunately the customer service is awful. 4th and 5th time we ordered delivery they messed our order up, we called them to let them know and they didn’t care, we said we would never order from them again if thats the case which they were fine with losing our business. They didn’t offer any apologies or try to rectify their mistake. We were not looking for any compensation but just decent customer service thats all it would have taken for them to keep us as returning customers. Few months later i was craving their food(ghobi and aloo pranata– saag paneer) so i decided to give them another chance. I called gave my phone number and they read back and confirmed my address they had on file, the order was correct but didn’t taste as good as the first few times and that night i got really sick from the food. Really sick. I will never eat from here again. if you plan on trying this place i highly advise not to order delivery but maybe instead eat in the restaurante. The curry here is it or miss but the prantas are always amazing especially the ghobi pranta, few other recommendations are Chole Bhature & Saag Paneer. But I’d advise not ordering at all… just to be safe.

The food is good… if they can get your order right! The first time we ordered from them it was great. Every time for another dozen or so orders has been a complete nightmare. They’ll change the prices over the phone with you, take orders on items they don’t have available and try to swap in other dishes in place instead of just telling you its not available, the delivery is incredibly slow, it’s not even open 24 hours as they tout on the menu and their delivery guys don’t bring the appropriate amount for cash. I’m writing this as the result of the final order I’ll ever make from this establishment. I had made a simple request to have some pickle with my paratha. I stressed the pickle and on many times they assured me there would be pickle in my order. What comes instead? Rice. No pickle. So I call them up to tell them that my wife was really looking forward to sating a home-craving for some paratha with pickle. The person over the phone had the nerve to tell me that he eats paratha without pickle and I should be able to deal the same. They didn’t even bother trying to correct or compensate in anyway or form. It was basically, We already have your money so you can fuck off. Terrible service. Don’t waste your time. A very, very, very bad representation for Punjabi businesses.

The best chicken tikka I’ve had; at times I order and pick up even at 2am. I heard their lamb biryanni is awesome. Virsa is not a bad place for your family or a group of friends having lunch of dinner. They are also open 24⁄7 which helps a lot, their buffet is also amazing.

This establishment has changed hands in the years that I’ve frequented. This is probably the third or fourth iteration since my first visit. In any case, once thing remains clear about Virsa: the food is good. Service needs work, mostly because the waiters seem inexperienced. But they try hard. Fish Pakora is outstanding. Don’t miss out on this. Their naan is always fresh. Fish curry, lamb dishes, mixed grill are all excellent. Their dishes are bit heavy on the ginger often times, so ask them to go easy on it if you’re not a fan. Butter chicken is a bit sweeter than I’m used to, perhaps too much tomato?

Punjabi Virsa is the place to go when you want fresh, good tasting and simple ingredient food . Pros: Tandoori dishes, Goat curry, Achari chicken, Chicken tikka masala . All the breads were super hot(a sign of good quality), Biryani hits the spot. Its open 24/7, The owner is the chef I believe . Cons: Its not a family restaurant so I dont recommend taking your fam(its a good take out place) . Parking, but you live in any of the 5 boroughs its easily accessible by public transit . Bottom line: Its a good place for your stag hangouts, Families eh not so much . Good Food, Good People and great service.

I had to try this restaurant after seeing it opened not too far from my house. I adore Indian food. I walked in on a dreary Wednesday afternoon to check it out and sample some delicious food. The first thing I noticed was that the décor was really nice and that the whole place looked very clean. The lunch buffet was still up and it smelled amazing. I ordered two of my favorites to go — chicken tikka masala and palak paneer — and waited. I paid $ 20 for both entrees and anxiously made it home for the deliciousness to begin. The first thing I noticed was that the portions were HUGE yet they only gave me one small container of rice for both meals. That was pretty uncool, as it was barely enough for one entrée, let alone two! The other disappointment was when I opened the chicken tikka masala container and just saw a huge lake of oil. I’ve ordered this meal at many different places and have never encountered such a greasy version. Like, I could spoon out the oil. I ended up flushing the top layer of oil in the toilet. I’d really have to say that it was probably like a ½ cup or so, coating the food. Once that was disposed of, I was able to enjoy some of the meal. It had really great flavor and I really appreciated how the chicken wasn’t all fatty and gross. Second, I tried the palak paneer, which was really great. It could have used some more spice, in my opinion, but I’ll let that totally slide because it was really delicious and satisfying. Overall, I can only give this place 3 stars for the time being. I will definitely be trying them again so perhaps my opinion will improve.

Punjabi Virsa is a very authentic Indian punjabi restaurant. They have a special lunch buffet(vegetarian & non-vegetarian) for only $ 6.99 from 11am-3pm. We came for dinner and had a bread basket, chicken tikka masala(really good) and lamb curry(very good, nice heat to it) and some gulab jamin for dessert. Caution: menu does not offer explanations of what is what so if you’re unfamiliar with Indian cuisine — you might want to do your research beforehand or bring a smartphone :) The food is really good and decently priced. Great variety. Many vegetarian options and many meat options as well. Hubby and I are already talking of when we can come back.
