At Chinese restaurants I eat vegetarian and I’ve been here a few times. Their lunch is the best deal, they also promise(hopefully they keep it) that they wash their pots before preparing our food. They can prep any meat dish with vegs.

We drove all the way to Quincy for this restaurant as we heard that it had authentic Hong Kong style wonton soup. As such, one of the items we ordered as the wonton soup. The noodles of the soup was indeed Hong Kong style and each of the wontons had shrimp in it. Unfortunately, the soup base was done poorly as it tasted like salty water. Our second item was a beef noodle dish. Even with the rising cost of beef, we were surprised on how small the entire dish was. Fortunately, the taste was good.

Sad that I’m downgrading another Quincy establishment… don’t think the Chamber of Commerce will love me. :-P With the proliferation of Chinese restaurants in North Quincy/Wollaston, this spot is becoming an afterthought. It’s the one of the only real Chinese restaurants in Quincy Center, and it feels like complacency is all over the menu. The various noodle dishes are average at best. The pan-fried seafood noodles has a ton of cheap seafood like crabstick and fish cake, while having very little else. That’s absolutely unacceptable. I usually come here for congee, as it’s cheap and decent. The wonton noodle soup is not bad as well. The chicken wings are generally cooked to crap. The ones I had last time were quite«well done». HKE used to be good with the salty spicy stuff, but not so much now. The salty spicy pork chop was fried with sub par batter and lacked quantity. Service is still an issue here. The servers are either slow or full of attitude. I usually limit my interaction with them as I exclusively do takeout. HKE is now just a secondary option, and that’s unfortunate.

This place is the worst restaurant that I’ve been to. The waiter was very rude and the seafood congee that I ordered was cold with very little seafood in it. Not to mention the waiter threw my bowl of congee to my table. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are much better Chinese restaurants in Quincy.

I came in to order dinner and the guy charged me twice and didnt understand what I was saying. He went in the back to get another worker to fix order and they started yelling, it took like 15 min just to order. So I just left, it shouldn’t be this hard to order food. Service is very bad and the place was empty.

After few years going to HKE I am convinced Asian cuisine as it should !! Not another pretend to be one as most are !! Small secret after being approached by waiter/waitress ask not to Americanize the food You are ordering. Try fish dishes !! Observe people with Asian back ground eating there in numbers ., place must be authentic !!

There are two restaurants, one in Chinatown and one here in Quincy. I honestly enjoy Chinatown’s taste much better as the Quincy restaurant reduced their flavor. Probably due to the customer’s taste in the area. But, that section is mostly an Asian population. The dishes I got were the same as Chinatown, price and size. But, again … taste is no where near.

Best chinese food in Quincy for sure! My family and I were looking for a good chinese restaurant since we’re new to the area, and this place was great. Will definitely be ordering again.

Got sesame chicken, it was small with broccoli in water or something for ten bucks. I feel ripped off. Food was just like every other place. Just upset over the price for the quantity of food received. I will not go back there again.

This location is so much more convenient for me to go to than the Chinatown one but the food is just not as good. It’s okay, not terrible — but the original Hong Kong Eatery in Boston’s Chinatown definitely has consistently better food. Recently I stopped by around lunchtime on a Saturday. I found it strange that no other patrons were there, just like the last time I was in. After I was seated, two other people came in to eat and there were a few take-out orders. I got the beef brisket rice dish and the large portion came out piping hot! The meat was very fatty(fattier than other brisket I’ve had) and the brown sauce lacked complexity of flavor. A few bites in and my tastebuds were bored. The last time I was here I had a wonton noodle soup and it was the same story. Definitely not the same as the wonton noodle soup at the Chinatown Hong Kong Eatery that I have known and loved since childhood. Based on the food alone it would be two stars. I’m giving it three for a couple of reasons. Other reviewers have noted the poor service but I found the waiters and waitresses to be friendly. I guess it could have helped that I spoke Chinese with them. In addition, the roasted meats are quite good. They are supposedly prepared at the other location and brought in first thing in the morning. I got two whole roast ducks and several pounds of roast pork that the family enjoyed.

The food is fantastic! The service is a little slow… but if you have great company to talk to then it’s not too bad. The spring rolls were my favorite. If you want some really traditional asian fare, this is the place to go. If you go someplace and you see asian people eating there… then the food is authentic! Not the americanized stuff that we tend to say«This is GOOD chinese food». I gave this restaurant a lower rating because of the service and my friend found a hair in her food! YUCK!!! But they took her plate and gave her another order… and boy you should have heard the waiter screaming and yelling at the cooks. So I guess they were really embarrassed. P. S. If you want to watch TV there… make sure you know cantonese, madarin or whatever language they are speaking on the Asian network. Becuase that’s the only channel they have on there.

They do not serve many of the items on the menu and most of what they serve is way too salty. The service is horrible too. The last time I went, after 15 minutes, I had to walk over to my waitress and give her my order. I then had to go over again to ask her for the check. I would avoid the Hong Kong Eatery, unless you are jonesing for mediocrity.

Eww I have to say I hate this place. I wish I could give them no stars. Bad service dirty restaurant and not a wide range in the menu. Theres only 1 or 2 good dishes here. Since the food always taste different because of the different chefs on different days. Also the service is bad. The waiters/waitresses fix you instead of doing it YOURWAY. Gee paying money and not getting my way…*SOUNDSSOOOOGREAT!* NOT! Bleh I only come often because my mom drags me and its 5 minutes away from my house.

Now they take credit cards but not American express. My parents go here a lot due to fact they live so close to it The one in chinatown maybe much better due to fact they been there for long time and it right in chinatown this one is right smack in QUINCYCENTER where there a lot of chinese now live and it easier to get to and parking is much easier. The waiter is somewhat friendly. I say don got on monday or tues’ the main chief is not there. the food depends if you go there during the busy time or slow time so far every time we go there my parents will order the bake rice with eggplant it take about 15 mins to cook so order it when you seat if you know you going to order that dish People main go here because either for lunch or dinner. for me i can’t really tell you every dish here due to fact they all taste same but they may have a lot of salt and sauce. If you can always tell them to put less salt and sauce. we go here for dinner and lunch. so it depend on the person liking of food and what they wanted to eat.

An extension of the downtown staple, the Hong Kong Eatery in Quincy is a good bet for HK-style eats. Large portions and good food are the rule, but sometimes can be a bit inconsistent. On one occasion the hot and sour soup – normally fantastic – was pretty much inedible and bitter. The waiter insisted the recipe hadn’t changed and the cook hadn’t had a head injury. In spite of that, I’m a fan of their chow fun and sizzling casseroles, and miss their giant lunch plates.

Major disappointment! My daughter and I were staying in Braintree during a Boston vacation in 2009, so we thought we would try this place out, since it was in nearby Quincy. We had eaten at the one in Chinatown a few days earlier and absolutely loved it, but we weren’t planning to be downtown on this particular day and figured this would be the perfect place. Could two places under the same ownership really be this different? I felt like someone had played a cruel joke on us. I left there feeling like they must use completely different recipes from the downtown restaurant and that they hadn’t even bothered to find a chef with comparable talent. The scallion pancake that was so amazingly yummy at the downtown location was simply drab. How can this be? We also had the chicken fried rice again because it had been so perfect at the other location. It wasn’t even close. A few days later, we opted to take the T downtown, get take-out at the Hong Kong Eatery there, take it all the way back to Braintree, and eat it in our hotel room. It was not really even warm by then, but it was still far better than the meal we experienced at the one in Quincy.

We chose the Quincy location over the Boston location because we wanted a larger space and nicer atmosphere. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the service was good. The employees that we encountered took the time to answer our curious questions and were nice about it. For starters we had the crab rangoons. They were not the best, but they were not the worst. They were a little too sweet and too creamy. My wife had the black bean chicken, which was served with fresh and crispy veggies. She also ordered a side of rice($ 1.25). The black bean chicken was delicious! The sauce was just right and the portion was a good size. I ordered the Hong Kong style lo mein with roasted duck. I had never tried this, so our server took the time to explain it to me. The noodles were delicious and mixed with ginger and scallions. The duck was just OK, unfortunately it was COLD, and there was not much meat on it. However, it tasted good. The soup that accompanied the dish was good, although I can’t compare it to other places because this was my first time ordering this dish. The portion was kind of small, but it was cheap. In the end, we spend under $ 30(including tip) on a dinner that featured an OK appetizer and at least 1 good entrée. We would be willing to visit again, and next time I’ll try something different.

2 pm. I ordered lunch to go. $ 6.24. They dont take cash. The place is not huge, they’ve got maybe 15 – 20 tables. The place looks a bit dingy, but has lots of oriental stuff. There is a pretty fish tank and a fish tank with fishies for dinner. Those fishies didn’t look good or happy or even appetizing. One of them was gasping and gasping and gasping… kinda of killed my appetite. Food — my lunch special included a spring roll, white rice and beef with broccoli. Spring roll– yummy. Rice — good, I mean its hard to screw up. Beef with broccoli, there was enough broccoli and it was fine, but the beef was horrible. It wasn’t cooked all the way and the quality was… well quite poor. I just picked out the broccoli. The sauce was too salty and loaded with MSG. Overall, eh, I dont think Im going to be back, but its good for munchies and greasy food lovers.

It’s OK quality. Some dishes could be done better and there are some that are pretty good. I guess you can’t have it all! My favorite of the 12 course meal was the cold platter — the crispy pork was awesome! This place is convenient — easy to find parking(comparing to Chinatown). This joint does it job in fulfilling the craving when I don’t want to hunt down a parking spot. When I have to drive at least 45 minutes to have authentic Cantonese food, I would place convenience as a priority as well as the safety of my car.
