If you are into really super fish, unique onion rings this is a place you are looking for. The onion rings are as thin as thin can be, with a light(almost tempura) batter and served in a monstrous sized portion. I had the Walleye, and it was as good as anything I have ever had. Served over a piece of Wonder Whole Wheat(to sop up any extra oil) it was quite flavorful and really fresh tasting. The serving size was generous, but the upcharge of $ 2.09 for a side of fries(they were really average) or home made potato chips seemed a bit high. I have to admit their pricing strategy left me baffled. The three pieces of Walleye was priced at $ 5.59, if they had just included the fries for a dish costing $ 7.59 the upcharge would not have been noticeable, and the price although the same would not have been perceived. It is all about merchandising. My wife had a wonderful catfish sandwich, which looked great. My cousin’s salad was primarily iceberg, but it is Quincy after all and expecting some of the more exotic greens such as romaine or red leaf may be asking too much. She loved the crisp freshness of the salad. I cannot emphasize enough, try the onion rings, but be wary of the«full sized order,» as the ½ portion was a significant enough size for 2 women and a man. They are super, great flavor and uniquely made. A small restaurant, the server was super, she really did a great job of getting orders and serving the guests. The only downside was the ice tea, I cannot place the cause but it definitely did not taste great. A fresh lemon slice would have helped. Without the tea’s off putting taste, I would have rated Jimbeana’s a solid 4.5 or 5. Unique name? The owners are Jim and Sabina Cottrell. The name is a cute combination. The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with no orders taken past 8:45. I don’t have any problem with the short dinner hours, since the owners make no secret, that they run the place and need some personal time. Good for them, I hope they are widely successful. They deserve a lot of credit for running a nice restaurant. A really attractive bar greats you as you enter, and the restaurant was immaculate.

Favorite place to get onion rings! Don’t miss out! Catfish sandwich is great, my husband has branched out further and been pleased with everything he has ordered. Pork tenderloin sandwich is great, chili, too! Great find in this little town!

Great food and service! I highly recommend the whole catfish, definitely worth the slight effort required to eat it properly. My first time in Quincy and I’m glad I came here! Definitely plan to return next time I’m in town

Stopped in for lunch. Just had a turkey burger and a bacon cheeseburger, but both were wonderful. Ordered the homemade potato chips and I must say they were the best I’ve ever had. Not greasy at all and slightly salted. The service was polite and prompt. We will return to try the dinner fare.

Went to Jimbeana’s with my in-laws. I’ve been wanting to eat here for a while and just hadn’t been able to make it until now. I’m definitely glad I did — it’s as good as people say it is. Today’s special is walleye sandwich, so I was excited to try it, coming from Wisconsin where fish fry is a Friday ritual. The plentiful and tasty fish is lightly breaded with cornmeal — a southern style which I love(and don’t see as often up north). To continue with the southern /New Orleans theme, it’s served old skool on a slice of white bread. For sides, I chose baked beans and homemade chips. This is also a BBQ place, so the beans were excellent. The homemade chips were perfectly crispy. My in-laws are regulars so the owner and staff know them well, but I can tell that none is a stranger here. Great place that we’ll definitely return to. Oh, and we brought some gumbo to go for my wife and she loved it!

Popular with locals, but for the life of me I don’t know why! Have tried it several times at others’ insistence, but to me the food is nothing special at all. Having said that, I’m not a catfish eater, and many who are swear by the stuff here. So maybe that’s it. If you’re a catfish lover, maybe worth a try?

Recently had dinner here for a baby shower gathering. The restaurant was very comfortable and inviting. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, most having the fried fish options. We had a very nice waitress as well. The only downfall for us was not having our drinks refilled. We were all crunching on ice while visiting waiting for our glasses to be filled back up. Aside from that, it was a pleasant dining experience with reasonable prices and generous portions. I will definitely return!

The best barbeque that I have ever had, attentive service and cute, homey décor. I have enjoyed it so much that during my week long visit, I returned three times. I am so glad that I found this gem of a restaurant!

Found this place while driving around looking for lunch in Quincy. We are from Chicago and found that some of the places we tried were closed for lunch, but Jimbeana’s was a great find! Had the barbecue chicken breast with homemade coleslaw and baked beans. Service was great too. Was not busy because we were there in between the lunch and dinner rush, around 3pm, so the server/bartender/owner(?) spent time chatting and it was great! Very eclectic décor and feel. kinda kitchy hometown.
