Prices are very affordable and food in general was pretty good. I ordered the beef brisket noodle soup. Most of the pieces of beef were very fatty and tough. I’m knocking stars off because the lady who took our order misheard us and thought we ordered more than we did, then tried to blame it on us and gave us attitude. Not sure I’ll return for that reason.

Best dumpling soup this side of Hong Kong. The shrimp and vegetable fillings are crunchy and flavored with 5 spice powder. The Beef Stew on rice awesome. Beef is very tender even the tendons. The gravy is flavorful and lips smacking good. I usually don’t eat too much tripe but this really melts in your mouth. Grilled chicken over rice with black pepper sauce is delicious with just a enough heat to enhance the flavor. The only downside is the place is cramped, not much style or décor. Just a mom and pop doing their best to bring you top notch comfort food.

I had a really bad experience here. In fact, I feel bad for bringing my mom here. The service needs a lot of work. The young man working the front was extremely rude to us. We were not greeted and awkwardly stood around even though there were open tables. He kept telling my mom to wait to take a seat, and then he proceeded to give us the worst table. It was smack in the middle of the restaurant and did not have condiments on it. Upon learning that we had asked our waitress to switch tables, he looked pissed off. My mom and I felt very uncomfortable throughout our meal. He continued to give us a bad attitude up until we left. Honestly, I like the food. It tastes quite authentic and it’s cheap. I’ve probably come here more than 50x in my life, but I will be avoiding this restaurant after this unpleasant experience.

A nondescript hole-in-the-wall eatery. There is a growing list of restaurants and cafes in North Quincy but I always find myself choosing Saigon Corner. Try the wonton and beef brisket with noodles; the broth and wonton fillings are just right– you can’t lose with this dish. Based on the popularity of the wontons and dumplings, they have them for sale frozen to try at home. I also recommend the fried wontons and dumplings with dipping sauce as a starter. The gentleman taking my order recommended a sweet and sour type drink that the restaurant chills in their beverage cooler up front, I think it contains tamarind– so refreshing I ordered a second for the road!!! The parking can be hard to come by on weekends but I park in a large lot near Billings Rd. behind Danny’s Hardware.

So this restaurant does serve phở, so it’s not necessarily false advertisement. However, even though I haven’t tried the phở at Saigon Corner yet, you’re probably better off with the phở across the street, since there’s something else good here. This is more of a Hong Kong spot, as opposed to a Vietnamese place. It specializes in dumplings and wonton. Saigon is not a full-blown HK-style café, but more of a dai pai dong(street food stall). Honestly, while it’s acceptably clean here, I really prefer doing take-out. I haven’t deviated much, admittedly, as I mainly get the wonton noodle soup with beef brisket. You don’t find many places in the Boston area, much less Quincy, that serves this. So I generally come here for that fix. You get a nice amount of tender brisket but a decent amount of good wontons. The noodles have that bouncy texture and are not mushy. The broth is pretty savory as well. I’ve gotten the scallion pancakes here but it’s mainly due to my laziness and not because they’re anything outstanding. Service is okay, with the ever-present lady there always cheerful, especially if you know Chinese. There’s more HK-style café food like baked pork chop with creamy rice and curry beef stew with noodles. But eh, if it ain’t broke with me… n.b. — and, as you can imagine like any dai pai dong in HK… cash only

This little hole in the wall restaurant is no frills and thrills. So if you expect fancy décor, this isn’t for you. The food here is Hong Kong style rice and noodle dishes. Most of the menu items are plastered on the wall. Most of the time it’s the owner who takes my order and she always in a cheerful mood. I get the sautéed beef with instant noodles, sounds boring but wait til you give it a try. I don’t know what they marinate the beef with but it works very well with the instant noodles and broth. I also started off with the fried dumplings, paired with the sweet dipping sauce they give you it’s to die for. I’ve even thought about times to buy the sauce in large portions just to have at home. Be careful with hot spicy oil here, it’s actually super hot but makes a simple dish taste even better.

This little nook on billings is not bad if your craving something but not sure what asian food you want. They offer dishes that you’ve had when your mom was or still is cooking for you when in the mood for some kind of home cooked dish. Price Price is reasonable for a eatery with about 5 – 6 tables and that local feeling where not everyone knows about so you can have some peace and quiet away from all the other great places in town. Staff small and friendly. So nice place to have a quicky if your looking for something simple and nothing too expensive.

After suggestions from my mom about this place, we finally checked it out about a week and a half ago. The menu is Hong Kong style dishes. If I recall correctly, my mom told me the owner just kept the former business’s name. I ordered the pork chop in a black bean sauce with rice, egg and hot dog. It was delicious. I would definitely come back again and try other dishes. This is probably the closest thing to Swatow in Chinatown Café 2nd floor(that closed a number of years ago in Boston Chinatown)

This hole in the wall place reminds me a lot of your typical café in HK. However the food is a little off. After reading all these awesome Unilocal reviews, I decided to grab some take out. I got the beef stew noodle soup and the steak and tomato sauce over rice. The beef stew was decent. I didn’t think the flavoring was quite there and you get more tendons than actual beef. They provide plenty of noodles, but the meat portions are off. The steak and tomato sauce was a little off too. I was expecting actual tomatoes in the plate, but it’s literally just tomato sauce as the menu says, which isn’t authentic HK style. The flavoring is on point though. I’d give some of their other options a try though…

I wish Unilocal would make the correction that this place serves Chinese food only and not Vietnamese. To be exact Saigon Corner only serves Hong Kong style food, and their noodle soups are hands down the best I’ve had in the Boston area. Some of my family’s favorites are wonton, dumpling and beef stew noodle soup. They also have curry fish meatballs and baked pork chop in tomato sauce with rice that brings back childhood memories of growing up in Hong Kong. They accept cash only and only open till 8pm, closed on Sundays.
