De Rango’s The Pizza King

I used to really like this place. Quick service and really good pizza. But today’s experience has ruined it. It was a super busy night and I expected a wait for the pizza, but then we get the wrong pizza at our table and they take it back, where they can’t find the one we ordered. Our waitress comes back to tell us «the back» lost our order and wouldn’t take the blame herself. But reassured us it would be out in 10 minutes. It then came out 20 minutes later and we’re told they would comp the «extra cheese». If you get Missy as your waitress just leave.

1. BEWARE! We have ordered multiple times and every time the cashier/​order taker will tell you a total price $ 1 more than actual. When you question, they get nasty. For instance, tonight: 1 B.L.T. Club $ 5.25 [btw: I asked cashier to tell me the prices] — 2 Meatball subs [$ 3.85 each] — 1 Gnocchi with meatballs $ 9.95 for a total: $ 22.90 + 5.1% tax (1.1679) = $ 24.0679 (or $ 24.07). The cashier had total $ 26.04. When my wife picked up the order, she pointed it out to the owner and he mumbles something my wife couldn’t understand. I don’t know why we come back because over the last year, 3 times this has happened where the cashier charges about $ 1 – 2 more — be very careful.
2. The food — truthfully it tasted like they opened up a can of Hunt’s spaghetti sauce. The pizza is pretty good when we have ordered, but the other items tonight — not so much.

4 stars for the pizza. Zero stars for the overall cleanliness of the place. We very rarely eat in here but tonight we did. The pizza was outstanding. Service great also. So if you can overlook the dirty floor and tables that aren’t wiped off right away try it. If not be safer n carry it out.

First off, I had been a fan of this place for awhile until the horrible customer service I received recently. The pizza that was delivered was not what I ordered. I called immediately, after waiting an hour and a half for delivery to tell them it was wrong and request a new, correctly made pizza. The manager informed me that I ordered it wrong and it was my fault despite me telling her I had ordered this pizza several times before and knew how to order. She then YELLS at me and sarcastically says, «of course then it must our fault! I can remake it for you but I’ll have to charge you.» Seriously? I will never order from them again. I work in customer service on a daily basis and if I ever talked to anyone that way I would’ve been fired.

Service was terrible on my recent visit. First, we waited half an hour to be seated though we were looking at empty tables the whole time. When we were finally seated, the tables were still dirty. A lady came and wiped the tables with a towel so sour my family began to gag! We had to ask them to get a clean towel and wipe it again. The pizza came out missing one of the toppings we ordered and it took about an hour to get the pizza. I can cook a Jack’s pizza in 15 minutes so, what’s up? I hadn’t been in a while but I should have taken my cousin’s advice and gone someplace else.

Pizza is freakin delicious best in town. The place is old but in a good way. If ur a native you know derangos!!! The country fried steak complete breakfast special for $ 5 is unbeatable also!

i don’t live anywhere near hear but i have family in the area so whenever i visit them i come here and have been since i was a tot. I love their pizza and i hope they never change the recipe. Beware of imitators!!!

Ordered 2 cheese burgers and medium pizza. I was told 30 minutes and waited 1 hour. Get home and discover they gave wrong pizza. Brought it back and waited another 30 minutes for the correct pizza. Burgers were made from Frozen patties, fries soggy and not fully cooked. Manager on duty wouldn’t even acknowledge me after bringing back pizza. One of the workers says to me… do you think you are the only one ordering pizza? Everybody wants pizza. Excuse me for expecting an order to be correct and ready on time. I guess they don’t realize that they are not the only pizza place in town. AVOID THIS PLACE!

Outstanding Pizza and Gyros for the family…

45 minutes for two cheeseburgers. That is all I have to say.

Ordered from here last night after not having been here in quite a few years. Ordered the lake perch dinner. While still on the phone I was put on hold so they could get my total and all I hear is «f» this and «f» that between two workers and «next time you answer the f’n phone.» Couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The perch was average at best… breading was bland and plentiful. Not worth ordering from here again. When I went to pick up my dinner, the place was empty except for one party sitting in the dining room. I can certainly understand why with the quality of the food I received and having to listen to the cussing of the servers while on hole. I will not go here again.

Awesome thin crust, owners very friendly. Will return to try one of the Italian dishes.

OK I’m gonna make this brief. My GF was craving some pizza and wanted DeRangos, ok no prob, I have had their pizza before and it’s good, so she called them and I drove to pick it up. I got back home, me and my GF ate some and then we talked for a while and an hour after eating this pizza my stomach started feeling funny, and so did my GF’s. We both practically fought each other for the bathroom. There was something that had went bad on that pizza. Maybe one of the toppings, not sure but I have never experienced a food that went through me that fast. I called the next morning to tell them that one of these toppings went bad or something and got me and my GF sick, the lady on the phone told me I was lying and that food poisoning doesn’t happen for 48 hrs which is a lie because i have had food poisoning within 6 hrs before this and this pizza put me and my GF on the camode in 45 mins. They told me to bring the rest of the pizza in and I did because I wanted my refund. I went in the owner (italian lady) looked pissed and she took one look at the pizza and said it’s fine, i said no it made me and my GF sick, then she tried to tell me that I was already sick before eating the pizza, I laughed my ass off and just asked for my refund. They gave it to me and no apologies, no nothing. What I experienced was a bad example of listening to the concern of the customer. They never heard me out, they just kept talking and telling me what i experienced from eating that pizza. The pizza was good but it made me and my sweetheart sick, not sure I will return there anymore.

I LOVE there pizza, its not my favorite but its defiantly on the top 5 for me. For pizza lovers, this is defiantly worth your time and money.

Now DeRango’s just may be the diviest dive of all dives. The smell of smoke and pizza will hit you once you enter this place… remember, this is WI. I have so many memories of DeRango’s. I remember being scared to go downstairs to use the bathroom because it was dark and, well, scary! I remember walking here for lunch in high school with my friends Betsy and Colleen. We would always share a small cheese sausage and talk about music and boys while I inhaled their 2^nd hand smoke. I remember DeRango’s providing 15 party pizzas for my college band when we stopped at my parent’s house for a band party while on band tour. And yesterday we decided to make things easy and have pizza for Mother’s Day and it was what mom wanted, so that was even better!
The pizza is so good here. Thin crust, but not too thin, lots and lots of toppings and tons of cheese, because hey, this is a pizza place in Wisconsin!
DeRango’s isn’t just pizza, though. My favorite is the meatball bomber… three huge meatballs, slathered in sauce and melty mozzarella, all on the perfect Italian roll. Heaven. I’m telling you.
So, if you ever find yourself in Racine, only God knows why, you might want to skip your fish fry and try some great pizza instead! Well’s Brothers will always be my favorite pizza in Racine, but DeRango’s is a close 2^nd and will always be dear to my heart.
