I’m Cuban. Was very excited to try this place since it was so close to work. I tried it twice; once for lunch during the week and another time for dinner on a Saturday. Both times it was mediocre. The food took way too long to come out and it was cold when it arrived. Won’t go back or recommend to any Cuban folks looking for a good Cuban place…

Very nice restaurant & bar. Last minute date night with my hubby and we were pleasantly surprised. The food as well as the drinks were phenomenal! Food was seasoned just right. Will be back again.

I was looking for a good hispanic restaurant in the area and happened to stumble upon Cubanu. I’ve been here a few times now and every time I go, it doesn’t let down. Quick service with a smile, big portions, and the food is excellent; the flank steak is to die for. Parking can be difficult, but it’s Rahway, it’s difficult to park anywhere lol I definately make it a point to come back whenever I’m in the area.

The food was okay but the service staff and especially the owner are very rude. It’s not worth your time to go here because if you encounter a problem expect to only be annoyed while the owner tells you he doesn’t need your business.

Excellent service. Kayla was the best! We had the plantain app. Great. Entrees: Ropa Vieja and Chicken & Shrimp in garlic sauce. Excellent. Also mojitos were fabulous. The only thing they have to work on is spacing apps and entrees. We were out without kids tonight so would have been nice to have a bit more time. Overall service from everyone was great.

Came here twice before for drinks and tapas. Only sat at the bar so I can’t really report on a full dining experience. The food that I had an assortment of tapas was standard/good. Service was fine, atmosphere was nice and there is a parking garage across the street. If in the area I would come back again but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

A delighted place to eat and relax with it’s beautiful, clean, cozy setting. Food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Staff was the best; warm, attentive and knowledgable of the menu and drinks. This place wow’d me from the start. Our waiter introduced herself and offered us drinks to start. After serving the drinks she stated that some of the dishes were ½ priced. Hearing that, in my mind I questioned the portion and taste but in the end, heart and soul, we were satisfied.

Good… good…good Cuban food. Great atmosphere. A really nice gem in downtown Rahway. I have had all the Cuban staples there and have loved everything I have eaten. Great mojitos. Now if only they would consider putting a flan de queso on their dessert menu… well then I’d have to upgrade them to a great restaurant. Get your butts over to Cubanu people… you’ll love it.

I went here last night for dinner and it was amazing. Everything from the appetizer, the sangria, the entrée and the desert. Nothing was less than delicious. I got the Enchilado de Camaron and my boyfriend got the Bistec. We had the beef empanadas to start and the chocolate lava cake for desert. The service was also great. Our waitress was very nice and personable. We will be back very soon!

Definitely somewhere I would come back to if I lived in the area. Good food and drinks. Server was a little distracted but not terrible. Even has a few outdoor tables. Parking in the garage across the street.

Cubanu has a great atmosphere, good music, good food, polite servers and bartenders. The food portions are small but really yummy. I’ve gotten a number of items from the appetizer list… Bacalitos, ham/cheese croquettes, mini ropa vieja cups, empanadas(very good)… Try the appetizer sampler so you can get a taste of everything. For dinner, I always order ropa vieja. Like I said, the portions are small, but the ropa vieja is really tasty. Go on a weekend evening and stay after dinner for good music and dancing. Sangria is good here. Mixed drinks and mojitos are on the weak side, though the mojitos taste good. They have an extensive wine menu. Overall, great place to go w friends and a nice date spot.

Top dishes are: Appetizers – Coconut shrump; empanadas; picadillio; wings; plantain chips. Skip garlic shrimp. Fish tacos used to be excellent, but last time were poor. Entrees – Skirt steak; tiger shrimp; pollo picante; paella; tilapia over salad. Sides – spinach; maduros; congri; salad – and they are very willing to let you switch sides from the menu. Good house wine and beers on tap. Excellent service. Excellent value for the money – especiallyt on Tuesday night when almost everything is half price. Some outdoor tables recently added.

The chicken empanada was excellent. The beef was decent and the spinach and goat cheese was disappointing– not enough goat cheese and very earthy tasting spinach. The cuban sandwich had great roast pork, but the ham was just 1 thin slice. Overall, it was overpowered by the amount of bread. Not my favorite. Wife had the plantain chips and coconut shrimp. She loved it. I also thought they were some of the best plantain chips I’ve ever had– long, crisp, and thin. Nice vinegar and herb dipping sauce too. This place was not particularly expensive and they took credit cards. If I was local I’d go back, but wasn’t spectacular enough to drive out of my way to go again.

Maybe it’s not the restaurant that I am blasé about but maybe it’s Cuban/Latin food in general. Except for the occasional great Cuban Sandwich, I always seem to find fault with this genre of eatery. Once again, I felt my main course was just so-so. This meal was the roasted suckling pig and to me it was very dry and without much flavor. My wife said she enjoyed her Mariscada dish and I did get to taste Mindy’s steak and it was pretty tasty but nothing too special. The service was very good… attentive and helpful. The white Sangria was Ok. The Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert was tasty. I keep expecting Latin Heat and instead find that it always lacks fire. Not just here, but in many other places I have tried too.

Came here with a few friends for a long overdue get together and it was a good choice. Cubanu is a great place with very good and very authentic cuban style food. Very dim and cozy place with a warm feel. Great for a local date spot. Drinks are good especially the mojitos and they also have three different types of sangria that are on point. Appetizers where a very good portion enough for two. Main courses are very large in portion and very good. They have alot to choose from on the menu steak to seafood and everything is served with rice cuban traditional. Desert menu had some very nice choices. I tried the flan and was very pleased. Wish I had room to try one of each deserts on the menu, but I definitely will be back so I can try something else on my return visit.

I was in the mood for Cuban food one night, and my husband and I decided on Cubanu. We ordered take out since we were tired from our morning errands and we weren’t really dressed for that type of dining. We ate here a couple years back for my birthday. So this time around I decided to leave a review. I really like their empanadas, dough is great and crunchy but unfortunately for that price I only get 2 which makes me a little sad, at least 1 more would have been great. I could have sworn they use to serve 3 empanadas. Bring it back! The sauce that it came with went well together. My husband ordered the ropa vieja and he loved it. The meat was tender and the sauce was great. The rice was a great and went well with the meat. He also order a side of platano maduro and it was so good. The tostones was a bit hard, salty and dry so we didn’t really eat it. I ordered the Cuban cubanu sandwich. And I was a very happy camper. Upon opening the box, there was 2 wrapped sandwiches. Oh happy day! I didn’t expect how big the sandwich was. The sandwich taste so goooooood. I loved it. I have many Cuban sandwiches before and this one will be on my list. I will come back again and try the other dishes, they sound great. Maybe we’ll try to dine in on night.
