This has to be one of the biggest perks of moving to the Rahway area from NYC. I LOVE Rita’s! And especially this branch on Westfield Ave. I’ve always had a great experience there and I am there almost weekly in the summer except for this summer with the egg shortage when they switched to soft serve. Yucky!!! Bring back the custard! Until then, I won’t be back.

My daughter loves the twist custard ice cream. Unfortunately with the price of eggs going up they went soft serve. Are they ever going back to custard ice cream? That’s what makes Rita’s so unique.

I enjoy coming to Rita’s on hot summer days. Reminds me of when I was a kid and my father would take me to the local Italian ice stand, Like Corona Ice king. Now I get to do the same with my daughter but only its Rita’s. Its a local favorite in the area for Italian Ice. One of my favorites are the«Misto» that is whatever flavor of ice you choose mixed with custard. Mine is the Cherry. I also like the Black Cherry Cheesecake ice cream. Almost taste like you’re eating cake. You can purchase anything in small, medium or large.

I.LOVE.RITA’S. Every spring I wait in anticipation like a little kid on Christmas eve, waiting for the arrival of ices and gelatos, and sob like a child in October when they close for the season. My favorite is of course the Wild Black Cherry. And now that I’ve put it out there publicly, people are going to start trying it and realizing its the best flavor they make. Scratch that, its the worst one there… Mango and passion fruit and pineapple are in a 3 way brawl for second place. I’ve just about had everything here from ices, gelatos, blendinis and sundaes and have never been disappointed. This little stand has a small parking lot which can be a real pain when its full, so i’ll swing around and park on the street.

Very great Custard & Italian Ice. Fun Flavors along with the classics. The company has some great people hired(mostly girls) that are very nice. Sometimes they can be typical teenagers and just seem that they are there to have some money for the latest sneakers out or whatever but it’s all fine with me. I get nervous when coming through the entrance and then leaving. The entrance is very abrupt/narrow. So i pray every time that someone isnt backing up nor crossing when i come down the road leading up to this place. Now for the exit, Mother Of God. To your right is a blind spot due to the constant parked cars being there, and to your left… another blind spot with oncoming traffic just blazing past. so when leaving just make a right instead of going left. it’s whip you right around. OVERALL. A+ for the great ice cream and service C for the entrance/exit.

Best Italian Ice and Gelato around! They constant change the unique flavors, but always have basic flavors. Also, you can ask for a small sample to try a flavor first! I love their Coconut flavor! They have a good amount of staff inside and there’s almost always a line because it’s such a great treat in the summertime!

This particular Rita’s location has been a staple for dessert goers in the area for years. If anyone has yet to try Rita’s, they are most certainly missing out on some of the best Italian Ice around! This location usually features 8 – 12 flavors, sometimes even more, throughout the season. The selection of flavors has expanded considerably over the years and they still attract the masses as long as they are open. Some of the most popular flavors are Alex’s Lemonade, Blueberry, Cherry, Chocolate, Kiwi-strawberry, Mango, Strawberry, Tropical Punch, and Watermelon. What’s best about the ice is that it is freshly made daily. They have expanded the menu to include Sugar-free flavors, and Cream-ice as well over the recent years. My personal favorites are the Chocolate, Blueberry, and Mint chocolate chip cream ice. Some of the other popular items on the menu are the Gelati and the Misto. The Gelati is a scoop of ice, a middle layer of custard, another scoop of ice, and a topper of custard. The Misto is almost the exact same thing as a Gelati, except it is blended like a milkshake and served with a straw. Most of the menu can be had for under a few dollars. There are also kids sizes available for most items on the menu. I highly recommend Rita’s to anyone. I have been an avid customer for years, and plan to do so for years to come. As I said, this place is a staple for a dessert in the summer months. The only complaint about this location is the parking. The parking lot is fine, but when there are 10 or more cars trying to park it can get a little tough, and most people have to resort to the sidestreet. Just a small sacrifice for some of the best Italian Ice around! Enjoy. RM
