Really nice atmosphere. I enjoy craft cocktails and the bartender(Unfortunately I do not recall his name) was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was able to make reccomendations based on some things I told him I like and another guy at the bar pulled up a favorite drink of his that wasn’t on the menu on his phone and the bartender made it. Over all drinks were excellent, music was awesome, and service was great one of the best cocktail bars in Raleigh.

Excellent bar tending staff, fun environment. My only complaint is that the crowd is a little to talkative to the point that its borderline rude to the performers.

One bartender was awesome but the light skin guy was RUDE! This is coming from someone who is Indian so don’t even think anything else.

It was a late Saturday night and my wife and I were downtown without a ride trying to figure out what to do the rest of the evening before heading home. I spotted a cab far away on the horizon and waved like a crazy person hoping he would be able to take us to some late night entertainment. I hopped in and said; my friend take me to a place that has the best ambiance, music that makes you want to stay for hours and drinks to die for! Our courteous driver responded; my friend, I know just the place for you — I will take you to the best jazz establishment in town — I will take you to C Grace! The club is kind of under the ground, as we walked down the stairs from street level, a man started speaking Spanish with me, i don’t speak Spanish and thought maybe this nice fellow just had a little bit too much to drink, hence why he is hanging around outside. As it turns out, this nice man was one of the band members on his break! The band was top notch, playing the kind of music that makes you forget about time, just wanting to keep having great conversations. But through the night they took so many breaks and each break was like 45 minutes or something. I thought they had finished playing halfway through, but the waitress assured me that these guys like drinking as much as they like playing, wink wink! They seemed like a fun bunch and the ambiance was super nice, so I didn’t mind at all. Going to C Grace felt like stepping into another era back in time, very classy type of lounge. It is, in absence of a better word, very«grown up», and there were mainly people above 40 here, although mixed groups around. If you are looking for people in their early 20s, this might not be the best option for you. There are some couches and smaller tables scattered around apart from the main bar areas. There were only two staff serving the entire area from what I could see, but they were on top of things all night. The drinks are not cheap, but on the other hand were quite strong. The higher drinks prices are OK with me to keep the club more elegant than the average drinking joint. The drinks menu is quite extensive. Don’t come here if you are hungry, because they don’t serve food.

This place oozes ambiance. The furniture, the jazz, the bartender’s all awesome. Drinks r to die for. Wish I could win the lottery so I could afford these drinks more than on occasion.

This my live music sweet spot! C. Grace’s is a jazz club with a speak easy feel. Rich warm colors and velvet fabrics adorn the place. There are various little alcoves of seating for large groups or an intimate conversation. Beware that this is a jazz club so the noise level can be high at times but then again, you came for the live music, right? And you should also go for the delicious drinks. The cocktail list is littered with old fashioned throw backs like. an Old Fashioned. And Gimlet, Sidecar, Pimm’s Cup. You get the picture. Be ready to open your wallet because they range from $ 10-$ 12 in most cases but it is worth it if you are a connoisseur of well crafted cocktails. If you want a more upscale experience in the Glenwood South area, then hit up C Grace.

Best Jazz Club in Southeast offering a unique ‘speakeasy’ environment with drinks of that era and live Jazz groups true to the genre. The service is great too!

A seriously fabulous hole in the wall for anyone who enjoys music and a hip theme. My only regret is that I don’t go here more. It can get very crowded and difficult to get a drink however for the feel of a vintage jazz club in downtown Raleigh how can you complain?

Loved this place and I could slap myself for not going there sooner! The live jazz was amazing and the entire vibe of the place reminded me of the Jazz lounges in Chicago. When my friends and I arrived, they were charging $ 5 cover charge. I’m not sure if this is the norm but we paid it. The place is decorated like a typical jazz club with lounge chairs, small couches, and bar seating. We were lucky to find a small table right in front of the band. The waitress brought the drink menus and I was blown away. There were so many things to choose from. I choose the gin drink with egg white foam… I don’t remember the actual name but those were the main ingredients :-) lets just say I sucked that done so quick and it was so good, I had to order another! I didn’t see if they served food but I was just there for the drinks. This is a great place for a date or if you want to hang out with your friends. I will definitely be back!

Not so great. Pros: The ambiance is great. The red /black décor with dim lighting makes this place have a romantic vibe. The fact that they have live jazz performances makes this place a venue worth visiting. Cons: It is ONLY a bar. You cannot order any type of food and I think they put sweet and sour mix in every drink. The bartenders suck. Before I went I was warned that the drinks might be a bit acidic(so order a sweet drink). I ordered a Cosmo. It was DISGUSTING. I left after one drink due to the fact that the venue is a bar and they can’t make drinks to save their lives. I would visit the establishment again ONLY to see a performance not to hang out at the venue itself.

Classiness to the max! C grace is a perfect combination of real cocktails, Versailles palace décor and real music. I give it 5 stars for the triangle area because it offers something unique to the area, and there is an abundance of comfy seating in the back rooms. That being said, I have been to better jazz bars in places like New orleans but this is still banging for raleigh! Def would put this as a must do for anyone visiting. Keep in mind that the musicians rotate regularly and there is a $ 1 membership fee before you can go in. I highly recommend any drinks with egg white and that you ask the bartender to make you a fruity alcohol free drink for a nice change up/something to sip on if you are dd or don’t drink.

— Let me tell you about C Grace! I went on a Saturday night to listen to Al Strong Quartet and I was blown away by the atmosphere and great music. — Romantic environment, low lights, nice décor, and a mixed crowd. — The drink menu was full of interesting concoctions and I appreciated the thought that they put into the details. I tried the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and Whiskey sour(with egg whites, which was sparingly smooth). The bartenders were friendly and worked fast. — I cannot wait to come back here with my family and friends!

I kept putting off coming here because I did not expect it to live up to all the hype. I was 100% wrong. There is a lovely array of classic mixed drinks along with some C Grace specialties, and they were perfectly mixed. For a long time in my life I found myself turned off from mixed drinks because bartenders felt so hit-or-miss… but this was definitely a hit, with delicate flavors in every sip, alcohol serving as just soft glow you felt washing over ever-so-slightly. The servers were extremely attentive and remained so regardless of how many people were in the room. My water glass was never less than half full. If you get here after a late dinner, you can have your pick of seating! It filled up quickly after jazz was scheduled to start, but there was so much space that everyone could find a niche. The ambience is sexy. I dare you to go with a date and not feel lascivious looking up at them by candlelight, in this room of red velvet and black wood, laughter and leisure all around you. Live jazz is always a fun touch, and I think the volume was totally reasonable. The fact that the bar has multiple rooms leading in to each other means that you can escape the music, if need be, which is a great touch of accommodation.

I visited C Grace while in town visiting a friend. We wanted a place to chill and have a drink before going to bust a move somewhere else. This place sure gets crowded or at least it was on the Saturday night I went. So apparently there is a $ 1 cover/membership as they say. The«membership» did cover all 3 of us to get in. Upon entering we went towards the back and hung out off to the side. There is a back bar with limited drink offerings but the wait is a lot less. The lady at the back bar was very nice and patient. We asked questions and wanted her suggestion based on our tastes. I ended up ordering what was called The Godmother which is similar to The Godfather that is on the menu. It was very boozy and not sweet like I had wanted and stated I liked. It made me feel like a real adult because it was a drink meant for sipping. I definitely could not finish it. The ambiance at C Grace is really nice and makes for great conversation. We were able to chat with a group near to us which is always nice. Everyone in Raleigh seems so friendly. I’m pleased with my first visit to C Grace and hopefully if I am back in town I will go back.

If live jazz is your thing this is a nice spot to be in for a great night with a group of friends. My drink of choice is a Bee’s Knees, which was very good! I love that this is a spot for something different than the ordinary club scheme. It makes me feel grown up. I think a key to going here too is a great, chill group of friends. There is such a cool vibe here almost like you want to go back in time. It can be a little loud but the musicians taken a break so it gives you some time to chit chat before they head back on. If the light is on, go on down the stairs, past the red velvet, and mosey your way into a seat for the night and let the music tickle your ears.

We had a nice post dinner time at C grace. We wanted to hear done jazz but I think we were too early as they weren’t starting until we were leaving(close to 11p). The bartenders are legit! They are true mixologists and we enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching them mix concoctions. I had an Odd Perfection(3, in fact!) and my date tried several different drinks. Wish I had the recipe!

We paid $ 40/couple cover for their New Year’s Eve event — it was so great. The service was spectacular — our server was quick to fill up my water glass, and mixed drinks were fast and furious in coming. And though the place was packed, the drinks were still being meticulously prepared. They set out some cheese, fruits, cookies, nuts, and cake — it was really a quite nice touch. Midnight came with an included champagne toast. But the highlight of the evening was the jazz band. They were freakin’ fantastic. This was my 2nd visit, and my wife and friend’s first. We can’t wait to come back. The cool spot in the back looks like a great place to hang out and chillax while all the energy can be observed from the front, which is more my style. They also have Blanton’s bourbon — which passes my ‘smell’ test if you’re serious about good, American booze.

Tucked away underground, C Grace is the perfect little getaway to another time and place. My husband and I checked out this little treasure after a nice dinner in Downtown Raleigh and it was the perfect ending to our night. 1940’s big band jazz + 2 rounds of delicious cocktails. The dim lighting and chandeliers. The bar and the largeness of the place. And the décor. All are very stylish and appropriate for this speak easy lounge. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn’t even that packed. I was very surprised at how large the venue was for being underground, and the service was also fairly fast. I’ll definitely be going back again next time I throw on a dress, some heels, and head downtown!
