This place is alright. I went here for an event and it was amazing. I’ve been there for a date on the roof and that was fantastic. However both times the music started blaring and I couldn’t even hear myself think so I left. I don’t understand why they blare the music on all three levels.

I’ve heard so much about this place so k finally went and really enjoyed myself. They played great music and the crowd was between 21 – 30. Drinks aren’t too expensive. I love the upstairs lounge area! Really was fancy with a great view. Down stairs is the dance floor and the dj and where I spent most of my time. Great atmosphere and great music. I will be back again

Great location in the middle of downtown Raleigh. Came here with my lady friends and we had a fabulous time. We arrived and started on the second floor.!The music started with late 1990’s and early 2000’s classic hip hop and R&B. There was also a mix of popular reggae. Bar: The drinks are pretty decently priced and taste great. One call out is they need a price menu at the bar. It is difficult to hear the bar tender over the bar. The dance floor is set like the music video Billie Jean, Michael Jackson. White lit tiles surrounded by wooden floors. There is a nice balcony outside if you need some fresh air. The balcony provides a beautiful view of the strip. Unfortunately, that concept of fresh air stops when the crowd gets bigger and smokers are around on the balcony. The 3rd floor played more of rougher southern hip hop music. The scenery is much better on this floor but the music was not the best dance music. Crowd represents great diversity.

Went there on Halloween and was told I couldn’t get in with boots on, despite them being part of my costume. Even after pointing out other patrons wearing similar boots(not to mention ridiculous costumes), I was turned away. No worries though, took my money elsewhere and would encourage others to do the same.

I am in HR so I have to plan a lot of events for work and volunteer groups, and have worked with Solas many times on corporate events from cocktail parties to holiday gatherings. We’ve always been very pleased with everything from customer service and food to space and setup, but I have to say that after having my wedding reception there, that they have completely outdone themselves!!! We had an awesome evening party with food, music, and open bar and our guests were blown away at how gorgeous and comfortable the venue setup was, and raved about the food, drinks, and service. Because it was chilly, our party was set up mostly indoors, but the first floor was a great choice for us because they had lounge seating and firepits arranged so our guests were able to take breaks and enjoy the patio, as well. From the beginning of the process, the Events Manager, Miriam, was so helpful, responsive, and went above and beyond to make sure we were well prepared for a great night. She worked with us on appropriate selections/amounts of food, helped us to estimate our beverage situation, and arranged for A/V so we could show our wedding video(since this was a post-elopement reception). Our party was from 8 – 11 on a Saturday night so it was also a fun option for some of our guests to keep the party going and head up to the rooftop :) Our server, Bri, was absolutely the sweetest! She was so attentive and flexible to our specifications, and had a smile the entire time. We really enjoyed having her at our party! Our bartender, Vic, was a true professional and was super fun and charming — he made our guests feel special as we all bombarded him at the bar for drinks constantly :) Additionally, Miriam was very accommodating in allowing us to come check out the A/V sound options prior to our event, and even stored our décor and equipment after the party so we didn’t have to worry about a thing but having fun. Seriously — 10 out of 10 Solas! Thank you all for making our wedding reception a night to remember — all of our guests raved about what an amazing time they had!

Dangerous and unsafe. The crowd here has really become aggressive and what used to be a classy establishment has gone downhill in the past year! I almost got assaulted for standing there the last time I was there! The space is otherwise lovely, but the demographic of people they let in are like animals! You cannot even walk past on the side walk! Sad such a pretty establishment has resorted to catering to that type of crowd! We are not in Detroit, we are in RALEIGH that is trying to become a classy, upscale, area!

I’ve been to Solas a few times and even on different nights. The cover is always at least $ 10! I honestly don’t feel its worth it, by the time you wait to get your drink and get out on the dance floor most of it is on you or the people around you. Just seems like the dance floor is always so packed with these guys you have no urge to dance with. And don’t worry they will just come up to you anyway and try and dance with you sometimes even when you say no several times. I love the layout of the club and the different floors they have. It has the potential to be a cool hang out spot I just feel like the people that go there and the price to get in kills it for me.

Latin Night Review June 11, 2015: I went here on a Thursday,(for Latin night). There were a decent amount of people there. Not to little(to make it feel dead) and not to many(so you couldn’t dance). The second floor played Latin Music. The third had house music. I did not spend 1 minute on the third floor even though I would’ve liked to since it was beautiful. If Thursday is Latin night they should play Latin music on every floor. The DJ was ok. He played a mixture of older bachata and current bachata. I live in Jersey and I am used to visiting some GREAT Latin night clubs in Jersey /NYC. However, this is NC. Given the lack of options this was a nice find especially since it seemed the DJ tried to cater the music to what people enjoyed dancing to that night. Plus, the drinks were tasty. :-) Pros: Ambiance, Drinks, Service(no long bartender lines) Cons: The music could have been more up to date /better. Third floor does not play Latin music(on Latin night) so you are confined to the second floor.

Fancy place with a great view but they dont answer their phones. However the roof top was great. The drinks were very expensive. There was practically a stripper there dancing. She was wearing a thing and was half dressed no one was on the dance floor because the music sucked was all rap and music you can’t dance too. When asked to request a song they said they don’t have t and didn’t have any capabilities too look up the song. Complete crap in the 21st century. I’d only go back for a group time it’s not worth it too expensive and slutty.

This review is late but I’ve frequented Solas years ago for dinner and wine events. They have an amazing rooftop and the entire place reminds you of a place in south beach Miami. I decided to go with some friends last night and things have definitely changed. There was a party going on and the dance floor was packed. My friends and I didn’t stay long but everyone seemed to be having a great time.

I was in Solas a few months ago with my husband and some friends. Unfortunately, it was a rainy night, so it was pretty empty when we arrived. We stayed for a few drinks and it was still very dead. the music was good, so we danced for a while, but it was pretty dissapointing, since we expected a lot more from this place. I don’t see us going back there any time soon.

Gorgeous facilities, awesome view. Very nice wait staff. Beer taps with no beer. Flat tonic. Not a great whiskey/bourbon selection. The security detail there makes me wonder how many murders occur there on a regular basis. Maybe I’m just too old?

Solas is a beautiful, modern, impressive wedding and reception venue that needs almost no decoration to serve as a space for your event that people will be talking about forever. The rooftop is like no other space on Glenwood. The service is AMAZING — I wish I could personally thank each server/busser/chef/bartender that worked so hard to make our wedding reception seamless and fantastic. All of our friends and family cannot stop talking about how cool it was to have a wedding at Solas and how DELICIOUS the food was! I would not change a thing about Solas and their amazing staff. But the true gem of this whole experience was Miriam Black, Solas event coordinator. Miriam is incredibly warm and friendly, professional, responsive, knowledgable and resourceful. She put us at ease from the moment we initially met with her, and continued to reassure us through tons of emails over the months leading up to the wedding. She was happy to quickly respond to all my questions, no matter how small. She was spot on with estimates for timing, food and beverage, seating, etc. Miriam really nailed it! Her guidance through the planning was priceless! Miriam was with us for the rehearsal and through the entire ceremony and reception. She was able to help create such a great wedding for us. I imagine she would be able to work with such a huge variety of people, as she was completely open to all our ideas and willing to help execute them on the big day! Miriam was a big part of us having such a great experience with Solas!

I had just moved from Downtown San Diego, CA and I needed to go dancing. It was one of those nights and I didn’t know anything about nightlife in North Carolina. And while San Diego has some of the country’s best night clubs(seriously), I was happy to have found one rooftop bar and a dance floor and plenty of yummy cocktails. I have been to better night clubs in San Diego of course, but Solas was pretty decent and fun considering this is Raleigh we are talking about. So with that in mind, Solas would be a respectable 4-stars for it’s class in my book. My husband and I had a great time at Solas! We went a few months back, and if I remember right, the dance floor is on the 2nd floor. The music and DJ was great, and I loved the décor, the plush seating and the lighting. The dance floor wasn’t too packed, and the crowd had a great vibe, no brawls or drama which was nice. We also went on the 3rd floor rooftop which overlooks Raleigh. It’s not easy finding a place with a view over the sea of trees in the NC Triangle, but at least I can find a small one at Solas! There are nice canopies and a bar on the top floor as well, which made getting drinks fast and easy. I had a fun time and even made some friends there. I would recommend it to others looking to get fancied up for a night of drinking and dancing.

July 12th2014 My parents recently celebrated their 26th Vow Renewal at Solas. We basically had a wedding… everything was PERFECTION!!! Miriam Black was so fun to work with. I’ve never seen my parents so happy. We had about 60 guest, only 8 didn’t show. The ceremony was on the roof top, the reception on the 2nd level. Although it was really hot outside our wedding stayed cool with our lemonade stand we created on the roof. Now as for the food… Holy Jesus! It was amazing. The guest loved it. The wine was even better. We brought our own DJ from Wilmington, NC… He was able to work everything just fine. Thank you to everyone at Solas! We will be back very soon to host another event!

I expected so much of this place! Seriously! Was here for a couple of shots with my bf and he was 20 that time and he never drinks! The bartender gave me the patron shot and my bf had a water with lemon and side dish. After the shots we decided to go home. I was wearing high heels, my bf was trying to help me get down at the bar and his other hand was holding my drink. The bartender just grab my drink and told me «you’re not suppose to let someone drink ur shot» and he grabbed my drink and poured it on the sink in front of other people! Omg if I wasn’t tipsy I would’ve thrown my shoes! Whoever you are you’re just so effin rude & disrespectful! After I paid $ 13 per shot ?! U deserve a penny tip! I I don’t know why I came back to this place last valentines day ! The crowd was very bad! The theme was«Mexican Night» don’t get me wrong I love reggaeton ! But Seriously? Music that old Mex listens too is really annoying! Good thing we found out that the 2nd floor had a «better» music. To Carrey Kidd, take care of your people pls!

This place hosted a banquet for our softball team and did a nice job. Small deck area gives a nice respite from the«club» scene that the place evolves into. Overall it was a fine place… drinks get expensive when you don’t have an open bar. I think that if I was back in Raleigh I would come back here with friends if we were looking to «get down» on our bad self. Worth a check out.

So, what is a night downtown without a stop at Solas? I had to see the hype. It’s one of the larger dance clubs in Raleigh with several floors to peruse. The dance floor on the second level was a little tight– you feel pretty locked into a restricted space. Music was much better than what they were spinning at Dual. The upstairs has a nice open patio so you can smoke and breath fresher air(kind of a contradiction I suppose). They had rolled back the canopy but the sprinkling rain made them roll it back and it made it feel more enclosed. The DJ here was pretty bad at mixing. The song selection were good, but the transitions were terrible. It’s like the music just stopped. Saw several of the same patrons here as in the other spots, so everyone moves around and most likely ends up here. Trendy and swanky? Those wouldn’t necessarily be the adjectives I’d use. Not dive-y I guess, but just take a look at the girls bathroom– definitely not classy. People do get sloppy as the night progresses but come on now

Solas has been a landmark for downtown fine dining and dancing for as long as I have been in the area 5+ years. In an attempt to Keep Solas, Bia, and The Unilocal event separate, I will remark on my part experiences at Solas Night Club. Extremely elegant, I enjoyed having the opportunity to dance there without a lot of hot sweaty teens trying to rub against me like at other places you can get a drink at the very lavish bar with a wide range of wines as well as hard liquors(my fav). If heights make you nervous please do not look down while on the glass dance floor though it is very sturdy it can be a bit startling if you weren’t expecting it to be glass. The staff is very polite and willing to accommodate any drink desires or special requests one might have.
