Flash House is an excellent little cocktail bar hidden behind the much larger and rowdier Black Flower. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good drink, some good tunes, and some excellent company

If you’re looking for a good time with fun staff, this is your place. I had friends that went to school in the area give me recommendations while here for business and they failed to mention this place to me… Their mistake. The staff is very friendly and serves the best drinks in the city. If you’re in downtown Raleigh, you need to stop here.

The flash house is one of the best kept secrets in Raleigh. I’m pretty sure I was there at least twice if not three times a week consistently since they opened. Jamie is awesome and the staff know their shit. Not to mention my wife worked there three nights a week and made some killer cocktails. I’ve been to 30+ countries and currently live in the beer capital of the us and can say that the flash house stands alone in its greatness among bars. Cheers

Had a wonderful time. Showed up on a Sunday night and the bartender was just as friendly as ever. He mad me a real whiskey sour with egg whites and all and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Loved it. 10⁄10 would hang here again.

I love coming to this bar!!! It’s a great gem of Raleigh. The staff is super nice & the atmosphere is great. The entire bar is made out of things that the owner found on the side of the road which makes for a good conversation starter. They have a good amount of beer & specialty drinks.

The best pet friendly eclectic décor(steam punk) place to hang out with your friends. You can HEAR each other talk, they like all personality types & have a great outdoor space as well with handmade furniture. The drinks are phenomenal they specialize in craft cocktails, the bartenders are amazing super friendly & you can them what you are in the mood for & they will whip it right up for you. There is a house bearded dragon named Gary & you can even hold him. They also have game stations on the bar & a touch tunes juke box for your entertaining pleasure. Some get a drink walk around and look at all the amazing décor & leave Happy!!!

Magnificent bar, especially when taking into account the atmosphere, service, and incredible cocktails. Myself and my boyfriend were looking for another divey bar to replace our old go-to back when we lived in New York. We think we found our heart here. Except unlike our old dive, this bar delivers an air of class and care regarding their selection and cocktails. Also don’t let the stereotype of «dive» throw you for a loop; this bar is clean and hip with its steampunk-themed layout. It’s easy to see why it is becoming a favorite for many. If you ask my boyfriend, he claims the best Old Fashioned cocktail has been made at this bar! I myself enjoy their array of creative bitters and use of egg whites in drinks like the Pink Lightenin~ Not to mention this bar seems to attract the best crowd of people. The bartenders themselves have been witty, fun, knowledgeable, and filled with a sarcastic banter that I appreciate when I’m trying to get smashed on a good drink. I’m never bored inside this bar. They usually have sports playing on the TVs inside, as well as a jukebox, and a few other fun props that I won’t spoil for the uninitiated. If, for whatever reason, you think the bartenders and other customers are assholes then the outside patio is huge and comfy too. Have fun!

One of my favorite places in Raleigh. Awesome vibes, awesome drinks and the best regular clientele in the world. Try the Kentucky Mule and the Growler. Deeeeeelicious!

This has to be one of the best places in Raleigh! The bartenders are awesome and the atmosphere is very unique. The owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home and talks to each customer individually regardless of how busy they are. Other Raleigh bars take note… This is how it’s done!

Why haven’t you been here yet?! Great bar with an awesome patio and atmosphere. The bartender is Johnny-on-the-spot with the tunes(flogging molly was playing when we came in early, he was just jamming out) but he turned up the TV to catch a horse race and offered to change the music if we didn’t dig it. Jamie takes his time to make you the best drink in town, he even grows his own mint for the julep. Also, 86 proof Old Forester is the house whiskey so you can’t go wrong. The man made me the best old fashioned and my girl the strongest 100 proof mule we’ve ever had. We joined the club and are coming back for sure. Stop in and enjoy

One of the best bars I’ve been to. Period. I was in Raleigh for a week, checked this bar out on my second night and fell in love. Service was outstanding, prices are reasonable, everyone were really friendly. The music selection is fantastic and the design of the inside and the patio(yes, they have a patio) is great. Loved it! Considering a trip back just to come to this bar!

The inside of this bar is way smaller, dimmer, and louder, than I expected, but it definitely pumped me up for the evening. This is a great stop for a date night, or if you’re meeting up with 1 – 2 close friends for a fun night of unwinding. This place feels like an eclectic collection of awesome kitschy relics that surely must each have their own story. Lots of red lights inside and outside that make it feel warm and lascivious. The bartender was super-friendly and attentive, and whipped me up exactly what I was looking for — a boozed-up, dressed-up hot apple cider. Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy the patio, but there was a great view of downtown Raleigh that could be spotted between the trees, and all-in-all it looks like a great place to hang out. I will be coming back, and bringing my dog with me when I do.

I was shocked that such a great bar has been hidden from me until last night, but what a great experience and realization that even after a year living downtown, Raleigh still has its surprises! Nestled(almost hidden) where Peace Street and Glenwood intersect, Flash house is dark and eclectic bar. Let’s just say, I’ve never walked into a bar where the first thing I see is a Bearded Dragon Lizard! This place definitely has it’s charm. Flash House is a specialty cocktail bar, with about ten recommended cocktails, most have a fruit element and usage of egg(white) is prominent. I tried the Pink Lightening cocktail, a blend of gin, bitters, egg white and pomegranate and would definitely order again(it was a little too easy to drink!). While the bartender told us cocktails ranged from $ 8-$ 12 each, no one in our group of seven ordered a cocktail for less then $ 11, we have fancy taste, what can I say?! One of my only complaints is that the prices aren’t listed. Flash House also has a large selection of bottled craft beer although no beers on draft(they even have a large variety of «$ 2 embarrassing beers» if you’re into that!) Overall, the vibe, the drinks and the service at Flash House were top notch and it has quickly been placed in my top drink spots if I’m looking for a cocktail. Plus who stay away from a place where the bartenders give you peach infused bourbon shots on your birthday!

Hmm did you say the name of this place is Flash House? Cause that is exactly what I got walking in, flashed that is. I was a little confused why there were topless girls out on the patio and no they don’t work there they were just enjoying their drinks topless a little strange for the Raleigh bar scene if I don’t say so myself. Obviously I was pretty curious what might be going on inside and with all the great reviews I did come here for the drinks after all. They have a very decent cocktail menu and the friendly bartender made me a yummy whiskey sour, egg white and all. I was surprised to see that this was much more of a dive bar and not clubby at all. I don’t know why but I envisioned the place as more of a dance club type of bar. The bar is pretty small inside but they do have a large patio. There was a friendly group of regulars hanging out and they really made this place feel like more of a neighborhood pub. I’m not sure what the crowd is like here on the weekends I can imagine it gets a little wild, but for a cocktail during the week earlier in the evening I would stop back in. Overall an interesting dive bar with friendly folks, a great find on Glenwood South.

Brought to you by the owner of the Black Flower, the Flash House is a mix of funky and eclectic! No surprise but this little bar packs a lot of interesting décor in a small space. Occupancy may be 30 — 40 people max plus a large patio outside, it’s hard to see what the Flash House is about from Peace Street. There’s a large privacy wall but work your way up the drive-way and step into the side entrance. Dimly lit, Edison lights in caged lamps, the Flash Room makes for a comfortable and cozy bar. Service was friendly and professional, I think you’re going to end up with a different crowd here given how far north it is on Glenwood and the fact that it’s off the main strip. Which in my opinion is a good thing! So we shall see how this bar evolves but the Flash House is off to a great start…

Coaxed out for an evening in DTR by Jennifer M. and Dave M. to come out and see Dave’s band Downfall play at Black Flower, I made my way down to have a night of fun. But in the meantime while we waited for his set(midnight), we decided to head next door and try out Flash House. I am glad we walked over, we had a great time! Flash House is decorated in an eclectic sort of manner. Sort of a quirky study/library/home office type of theme going on, and it works. It’s pretty cool how it all comes together, I like it, right down to the old adding machine with the cover off exposing the inner workings, etc.(Check out the few pics I managed to snap) They have a pretty sizable outside seating area as well. There is also what I tend to think of as a gigantic iPod touch-like jukebox there where you can pick almost any type of song, genre, decade, etc. you want to play and hear, it was great. Sitting down at the bar, I noticed plenty of beer in the cooler in the corner from your standby favorites down to PBR and Schlitz(wow, Schlitz?!? I had no idea they were still around when Dave pointed it out, used to see that in mini marts when I was a little kid). But the main attraction is the different array of liquors they have to make the cocktails. No, they are not on the same tier as say a C Grace is, but they do what they do well. They have about a 5 page menu of cocktails and drinks to choose from, and they have quite a variety. I started off with a particularly frothy one with egg whites and ginger that was pretty good, but I ended up sticking with The Bludger which is an orangy/citrusy type of cocktail that was easy to drink and pretty tasty. Service was great. Chandler and the crew keep the drinks coming, the conversation fun and interesting, and made the night a great one for us. In fact, we ended up coming back again after Dave’s set was over to enjoy the last of the night there. The place is just very laid back, relaxing, and comfortable. I liked that feeling. Bottom line: I was pleasantly surprised by Flash House. Great eclectic atmosphere, giant iPod touch-like jukebox, variety of drink options, fun and attentive staff, and it all added up to a great first experience with the place. I plan on coming back again!
