I’ve tried this place a few times in hopes it will get better. Nope. Nadda. And don’t order take out, because you will get it home with soggy food and hot condiments that should be cold. I’m done with this place.

It is perfect for what it is. A neighborhood pub where you feel comfortable and welcome. I have not seen a better managed restaurant in this price range. Not even close. The service is well trained and managers are visible and actually helpful to both the diners and the staff. Not just face time. The food is fresh and hot and far above expectations of similar places. And on top of all that the prices are so good that it is hard to go anywhere else and take a chance.

Normally the place is decent, but just had a HORRIBLE Thanksgiving Dinner there. They advertised a limited menu with a Choice of Ham or Turkey Dinners. We had a 4pm Dinner, but they were already out of Turkey!!! How could you have 2 main choices and be sold out by 4pm when you are open until 2am. The dinner also came with Pumpkin pie for dessert… well if they were not out of that too. Of course we were still charged the full priced, even though that included dessert when they were sold out. The Ham was«OK». The Stuffing — I shared my wife’s portion since they did not put any on my plate — was poor. The Green Bean Casserole was OK. No Kids Items available at all… Though a panini was on the limited menu. Explained to the waiter to take everything off EXCEPT the cheese so it would be a grilled cheese. Nope… they failed at that too… so we picked the other stuff off when it came. Ordered Red Wine… Got White… I did send that back to be fixed. Oh and at 4pm the place was dead… So being overwhelmed with business was no excuse. Never ever again would I consider going there when they offer any special«Holiday» events.

When you come to the Hibernian, go to the middle section, that’s Justin’s section. He’s a kick ass server who knows what you want when you walk in the door.

My wife and I love hanging out here. The food is always great. They have beers you can’t find anywhere else in town. Ask for Justin. He’s a great waiter.

I really liked the prime rib, but it had quite a bit of fat on it. I ordered mashed potatoes and veggies as my sides, and while the potatoes were fantastic, they skimped on the veggies quite a bit. We stood in the entry way for several minutes before a hostess showed up, and service is overall on the slow side. However, the pub environment is fun and festive, so I suppose I can forgive the slowness. This place is overall ok, but I wouldn’t take anyone here whom I was trying to impress.

GROSS! WILL M. Suggested to me to come here., After all the shitty comments he’s been posting around town, I decided to give the HIBERIAN a try. Why? Because all FOODBLOGGERS are professional food critics. And who do I trust? FOODBLOGGERS because they have nothing else better to do then ruin people’s lively hoods. Nobody cares about UnilocalFOODBLOGGERS. Because you’re all just keyboard tuff guys.

Nice casual pub, great vibe. Food was very tasty. The seating was somewhat uncomfortable, but that might just be me. The service was very good.

After several visits to this location I honestly wonder why people fight the crowds at the Glenwood location! Great service from attentive wait staff & bar tenders, by far best service from Luke! Highly recommended the Irish Breakfast with one of their delicious bloody Mary’s

I honestly don’t know what these folks could possibly do to make a visit more pleasant! We just love the bar. Alex and Maggie… well, they couldn’t be nicer, or more efficient taking care of us! Sit down at the bar and they’ll tell you what the specials are.(love half-price wine Wednesday!) I know, I know, it’s an Irish pub and there’s plenty of brew to be had! Husband does his share. As for food, we haven’t run into anything yet that wasn’t exemplary. Most recent case in point involved a reuben, a patty melt and side salads. Even Husband who is normally a fries-side guy kept remarking how good his salad with their housemade blue cheese was. I thoroughly enjoyed mine as well. They have several different vinaigrettes to choose from and I gotta say the balsamic is especially good! We love the pub atmosphere, especially the bar which wraps around the place!

I was a big fan of the Glenwood location, but I’ve been unimpressed with my two visits to this one. Food is average for bar food, but I’d hesitate to order anything more complex than bar food. Execution has been okay, but hasn’t stood out for anyone in my parties. The staff is friendly if you can track them down. Likewise with management. Refill time on beer and drinks is a little slower than average. Delivery of the check during my latest visit was excruciatingly slow(about 25 minutes after food and drinks were finished and plates were cleared). All around, it’s very average, and not what I came to expect from the downtown location. Not bad, not good, just a solid«meh.»

OK, Now I’m impressed. I go to Hibernian for lunch a few times a week for the specials. Now, if they have the curry chicken soup, I can just order the Britney special and I can get the curry soup with chicken wings with a Angry Orchard cider. Britney M. is the best staff person at Hibernian North for doing this for me. Great place and great staff. Highly recommended!

So after my first visit to the North Raleigh location, I’m happy to report the Fish and Chips and cozy atmosphere is on par with the downtown location. Came here for a nice laid back Friday dinner, had a couple of pints of the black stuff, and the very, very good fish and chips the Hibernian cranks out. Having been a visitor to Ireland each of the last two years, some legit Fish and Chips has kind of become a need for me. I have to have it. This place does it right. The fish can be either haddock or cod(I choose cod obvi) and it all comes out as you’d hope and is delicious. I’d love to try other things on the menu, but I’m usually going to be coming here for a reason, so that’s unlikely. The place itself is every bit as pubby and woody as many a pub in Ireland, as well as the Glenwood location. I’m a bit ashamed I hadn’t been here until March given it’s proximity to my house and the very pub-friendly winter we just came out of, but I won’t make that mistake again. Really cool Irish pub. Happy to have one that doesn’t disappoint up north.

If you have a leisurely evening to spend, and you appreciate a rustic Irish pub environment with a solid basic beer selection, you will probably enjoy your time at the Hibernian. The pros — nice décor with a comfortably authentic feel. Most basic pub food is done fairly well. Their burgers and wings are good grub. The staff is friendly and pleasant, if a bit scarce and hard to find even when the restaurant is nowhere near full. They have good pub beer on tap. The cons — Don’t expect high level cooking or top notch ingredients. The«whipped cream» on dessert is out of a can and tastes like it should have been left in the can. The«Guinness mousse» is neither Guinness nor a mousse, but an unpleasantly gritty textured, unsubtly sweet and unidentifiable lump in a mug with the aforementioned dreadful canned topping. I wouldn’t suggest ordering steak or non fried fish here. The staff does try hard, when they can be found. The manager was very responsive and responsible when I pointed out that the Guinness mousse was neither of those things, and he immediately took it away and off of our bill. Unfortunately we never saw our server again after she delivered the food and one cup of water. Occasional mishaps seem to occur in the kitchen. I found something weird buried in my blue cheese dip which wasn’t harmful, just a piece of paper wrapper, but was a bit offputting. No harm done, and the blue cheese dip was house made and quite good with nice big chunks of tasty cheese. Still, it never helps my estimation of the skill and care level in a restaurant kitchen when things go swimming in the dip. Service is extremely slow and it can take roughly forever to get your food or a check delivered. Drink refills basically don’t happen even if you’ve only ordered ice water and their extra hot wings and are sucking on ice cubes by the end of the meal. Ouch. That was painful. There are definitely some ups and downs here. It’s a nice place to bring a group of folks to have a few beers in a relaxing pub environment. The basic pub grub that doesn’t require a lot of skill, care or fresh ingredient sourcing is good. Just make sure you’re not in a rush, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend ordering anything more adventurous than the basic fried stuff.

I have been coming to Hibernians for the past 7 months, about three days a week. I always order the Cuban or the Reuben with a Guinness. I have never had a bad experience. My food is always hot and delicious. My Guinness is always pulled correctly, and the lovely ladies and gentlemen that work there have always been so sweet and prompt. Seth, one of the many great bartenders, always knows when I come in, and already has a Guinness ready for me. The managers always come out and greet everyone, which I believe is so important for customer rapport. I don’t have much family here, but Hibernians has become a second family to me. Please stop by and enjoy the Irish atmosphere and the always amazing staff!

Nice atmosphere for this pub style restaurant. We were seated in a semi private area which was pretty cool with lots of books piled on shelves surrounding us. Bench type seats were kind of worn and not all that comfy. Turkey and slaw Sammie with basket of fries was a bit on the bland side. Would come back and try other options. Outdoor patio looked nice as alternative option.

If there was anything that might have me coming back it was the service. Our server worked hard and was very polite. Sadly the kitchen was a complete failure. I ordered the fish and chips but my dish fell way short of my expectations. If anyone has ever been to a true Irish pub they know how famous they are for their over-sized portions of beer battered fish. Unfortunate for Hibernian their fish is two small pieces of the captains cut portion of the cod. Kind of the size you expect to see on the kids menu. This is complemented with approximately 6– 10 steak fries hardly an adult portion. Next I ordered a side of Mashed potatoes to substitute for the slaw and as much as I agree that they were delicious and very tasty I thought it to be too much to charge three dollars extra for the potatoes. My wife’s meal was not fit for my puppies«literally». She had the corned beef and cabbage a meal fit for any Irishmen. to our demise this meal was served with a grey color and an aroma of dead meat sitting around for too long. The texture was slimy with an abundance of fat. We were so repulsed that we returned the entrée only to receive yet another poorly executed insult to an Irish tradition. As for ambiance I am not even going to go there. The seats are re-purposed church pews which at first I thought was quiet nice, but sadly they placed us in a corner with three walls creating a private mini room booth. The booth literally was its own mini room. I felt crammed and secluded with a view of the kitchen and of course the side station for wait staff to make their drinks.
