Best servers and friendly folks. Drinks are awesome. The only negative… Nothing new on the menu. For us regulars we need new options for food. Overall great place!

Been here a couple times in the last couple weeks. Once we were in the mood for nachos so we stopped in. At our smart Server’s suggestion we got the chili on the side for dipping so that the chips didn’t get soggy. Very yummy! Wine-wise they have just one chardonnay and it is okay. Husband goes for beer. They don’t have a whole lot on tap, but he can find one he likes. Next time we were hungry for a real meal. Husband got the Tenderloin Sandwich with sauteed onions and mushrooms with melted provolone and au jus with his beloved Tater Tots. He was super happy with all of this except for the au jus which had no flavor. Fortunately he didn’t feel like it was needed anyway. Trying to be healthier,(hah!) I opted for the Grilled Shrimp with my choice of two sides: Mediterranean Veggies and a Side Salad with Balsamic(minus croutons). I am a saucy gal so requested both tartar and cocktail sauces. Request granted. The shrimp was cooked okay. But both sauces were lifeless and fairly tasteless… wah! I had our Server bring a really nice hot sauce, which did help a lot. The cooked veggies were full of mushrooms which is just not my thing(my fault, should have asked). Husband was happy to oblige putting me out of my fungus misery. And I was able to eat around them. Even my salad was sadly disappointing, as the balsamic didn’t taste like a fresh one.(come on River Pub… buy a good olive oil, a good balsamic, add an herb or two, salt & pepper and happiness ensues! Same with cocktail sauce… horseradish, ketchup, lemon juice. And tartar needs some flavoring besides mayo and a little relish… just sayin’!) So, I won’t be ordering that again. Especially considering it was $ 17. That’s what I get for trying to be healthy. Served me right. They do apps & sandwiches much better here. Stick with that!(note to self) TIP: Thursday is half price bottle-wine night. Best part of this place? The Servers! These gals have made every experience we’ve ever had here totally enjoyable.

I was craving Fish & Chips. Heard that the River Pub could fill that request, they did! Crispy fish fillets and homemade hand cut chips. Also had the house salad with Italian dressing. Fresh veggies & tasty dressing. And don’t forget to order a cold draft, you can’t go wrong. Portions are huge, so come hungry! Thank you«Lisa» for being an awesome host. Can’t wait to eat here again!

Hoppyum on draft and the tenderloin sandwich is fantastic. A semi-regular stop on our Thursday Night Bike Night bar rotation.

Sandwich, side & soft drink/tea lunch special. BLT is great. It is close to home and I eat here for lunch or supper at least once every 2 weeks. Great and friendly staff!

River Pub is the quintessential neighborhood spot! The staff is always friendly and attentive, outdoor seating allows pups and their shrimp po-boy is a go to dish for my husband and I.

A very nice neighborhood bar and grill. The portions were huge. Fish and chips, a giant BLT and fried pickles to die for. Small little place tucked inside of the shopping center. The 2 servers/bartenders were very attentive and personable. Maybe a bit on the pricy side but I will definitely be back for more of their menu.

Good service and nice ambiance that sadly is not supported by the food. Which, in a word, is bland. Not a spice to be found in any of the dishes we tried– not even salt and pepper. And everything was overdone or burnt. Which was a shame because the menu options looked so promising! If you are just looking for a clean watering hole/pub to catch the game or grab a beer, this might be a great option(although there are others fairly close by which would also fit the bill). To be fair, maybe it was just an off night, foodwise?

After a long day or work, this is the spot my wife and I usually opt for. It’s down the road, in a booming shopping center full of other neat bars, restaurants, and stores, and has the local almost«Cheers» feel to it. Before I get carried away by 80’s bar nostalgia and sentimentality(something that I never actually experienced), I will say that I don’t know the bartenders by name nor do I know anyone who would be classified as a Cliff or a Norm. Still, I like this place. The beer selection is pretty standard and not local enough at all, but they do have some decent deals. I think the sell a bottle of wine for like $ 12.00 on Wednesdays along with beer deals the rest of the week. I should add that they close at 11pm and from my experience, the kitchen only does appetizers from 9pm on. We usually get there late, so appetizers is what we go for. The River Chips are great as is the calamari. It’s small, sells booze, decent food, plays sports and, is close. I probably would have given it three stars, but since it serves its purpose well, I’ll kick it up.

We stopped for a Friday mid-afternoon beer and snack, and were extremely pleased with the service we received from the bartender. I had the Southwestern salad(I love chili, cheese, chips and lettuce) and it was huge — twice the amount I expected and tasty. Husband had wings and liked them(he can be picky, too). Prices seemed a tad high, but not too unreasonable. No Guinness on tap(sigh!), but they did have Newcastle in a bottle and they were ice cold. A couple sidewalk tables are outside. Definitely will stop by this neighborhood bar again!

Great service at a local place. Have enjoyed the veggie sandwich several times and lentil salad. Both very good. Small space with a couple seats outdoor-always had excellent service!

Checked in, and then we didn’t even make it in the door. Don’t let the photos fool you, this place is the size of a shoebox. Try the Falls Tap Room, Carolina Ale House or Tilted Kilt instead.

One of the top 3 cheesburgers I’ve ever had in my life. I begged the waitress to please tell the owner to never change it. She laughed and said, ‘oh we won’t don’t worry’… If you’re reading this, owner of River Pub, I will say it again, KEEPTHECHEESBURGEREXACTLYLIKEITISBECAUSEITISPERFECT!

I’ve always enjoyed this place if it is just to sit and have a few drinks or eat a meal. Typical sports bar layout and fairly small(it can get very crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings) but the portion sizes are massive and the food is quite good. The Club and falafel are my favourites but don’t miss a chance to check out the fried pickles, buffalo wings, and ALL of the entrees are excellent. I’m not a huge fan of the ranch they use here(a bit vinegary for my taste) but the hot sauce is very good and the kitchen staff is quite adept and finding a really good taste for every dish they serve. In addition, they will go out of their way to make a meal for you to your exact wants… you need only ask the waitresses. Will definitely continue to be a repeat customer.

My wife pulled this place out of her hat tonight when the restaurant we had originally picked had a line out the door. Good fall back! Small sports bar-like place that isn’t overwhelmed with the usual racket that accompanies game days in a real sports bar. Typical bar food with a couple of upper-end entrées that keep it from being just a beer joint. We ordered a beer and fried pickles for starters — the pickles were nicely breaded and just the right amount of sour, and they were obviously just made. They came out hot and were still more than warm when we finished them. Since this was our first visit, we asked for and got samples of their chili and cole slaw. The chili was good although a little too soupy for our tastes, but the slaw was probably one of the two or three best we’d ever had — crisp and creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s probably not to everyone’s liking, but I liked it so much I added it to our order that had already gone to the kitchen That may not have been my smartest move of the day — my club sandwich was HUGE! It was a bit dry, but that was likely more a matter of personal preference on my part. The accompanying onion rings were nothing to write home about, but I have to admit that they suffered more from my eternal hunt for rings as good as my Mom’s were than poor preparation. My wife had fried shrimp and sides of slaw and River chips, a staple of the River’s menu. There was a big mound of shrimp, so many that she couldn’t comfortably finish them. She’s never been much of a cole slaw person, but she wiped out that side in a hurry and then started to eye mine. She said the shrimp and the chips were okay — nothing memorable though. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful, and it appeared that the rest of the staff had a similar demeanor. This would be a great neighborhood hangout place if it were a bit bigger, but maybe I’m being too critical. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to give it a chance, and we saw enough on the menu to make it easy to pick The River again, this time not as a fall back.

Great bar food! I had the shrimp po boy sandwich with onion rings. The sandwich was pretty big and in true po boy fashion was a challenge to eat sandwich style(I’m always tempted to use a knife & fork and not be messy). The shrimp were breaded & deep fried, lettuce, tomato, with a great sauce. I may have put a bit more sauce on it, but the flavor was great and I ATEITALL. Onion rings were good too. I was looking for fried food and this hit the spot without being greasy :) Ken had the chicken kabob which was great also. Huge portion, tender and juicy chicken with onion, green pepper, and tomato. This dish was a surprise given the venue. It’s a one room bar with diner-like tables filling the floor space. We didn’t expect non bar food from a bar!

This restaurant is a real gem and I’m so glad I found it while on my way to the spa. My mother and I enjoyed lunch at River Pub quite a lot. I ordered the BLT, which was huge – enough for two people. It came with delicious slaw, and a pickle. I also ordered a side of fried pickles, and I must say they are the BEST fried pickles I’ve ever had! Thinking about this food actually makes me hungry! My mom ordered a club sandwich that I swear had 3 lbs of meat on it. It was enough for a football player and was stacked so high that she couldn’t open her mouth wide enough to eat it. Now that’s a good problem to have! The tea was really good. The décor is sports-bar-like, and they serve their food on square plates. The wait staff are super funny and kind. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever about this restaurant and am surprised I haven’t seen it here on Unilocal yet! GOGETYOURSELF A SANDWICH!
