Love them! Family-owned place with delicious lattes and occasionally a super rich thai iced coffee. The staff is awesome, too, definitely worth a try!

Came here yesterday for the first time and it won’t be my last! The baristas are always smiling and happy to answer any questions you have. The coffee has a great taste that is unique to their shop. I guzzled mine down and even gulped up the foam left at the bottom because everything was just that good! And the atmosphere is the best-no stuck up snobs giving you the side eye, calming music great for reading and studying, not too noisy even when filled to capacity. People were there until after closing and the baristas were still smiling and being nice to everyone. You must check this place out(:

This place is awesome. A little difficult to get to if you aren’t a student at ncsu and can walk there– we luckily parked right in front, but they don’t seem to have dedicated parking. Also easy to miss the shop, since it’s right before the traffic circle. I love the service here though! The barista was informative and extremely professional. He answered all my questions and was attentive. I love how they offer matcha shots in small 4oz portions. the barista told me this is because the matcha is high quality so since it’s so concentrated, they don’t want to serve too much. so don’t expect a green tea latte here. no dilution of the matcha to be found! However, I did get the matcha cheesecake bar and it was DELICIOUS. I believe it was also gluten free. My boyfriend and i killed that thing. it was cheesecake with matcha swirled in. and the green tea flavor is definitely there. nice and slightly bitter, not fake and overly sweet at all. We got our lattes to go, and they still had the beautiful artwork on the foam under our lids. Awesome! Wish I couldve stayed longer, because the atmosphere seems very cool and unpretentious. Will come again if i’m ever in the area.

This has become my girlfriend and I’s favorite place to study. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We are always greeted with a smile and perfect drinks. They have it all! Beer, wine, coffee, tea and so much more. What I like about this place is you can grab a good beer without the bar feel to it. If you want that, PR is right next store.

I was so excited when we got a panda on our hot chocolate at this place. My coffee shop visits have mostly been of hearts and leaves but this panda was a great surprise. This is a cute little place and at a good location, they serve beer, coffee and wine. There are cheese plates and other pastries to eat as well, the coffee overall here had great flavor and the staff was friendly as well. Best is the parking lot they have as finding parking on the street near the area is difficult. I would definitely go back there to see what I am surprised with the next time.

I am writing this review as I leave this place. They have a nice blend of coffee, teas and local beers. The staff are super friendly. I picked up a beer and to my surprise it came with some complimentary condiments. The last time I had something of such kind was in every bar in Belgium. I enjoyed them. A neighbor was done with this tea. Without him asking for a re-steep, the barista behind the bar proactively asked him whether he wanted his tea re-steeped. A nice gesture that goes a long way. This coffee place was previously a place where they sold loco pops. They still do sell locopops here. Parking: It is over next to the BB&T bank. The same parking lot that caters to patrons of David Dumping. The parking is next to the round-about. The place is right next to David’s Dumpling Bar. Bottomline: Friendly staff with good ambience !

I’ve visited twice now for happy hour and after dinner drinks — no coffee yet! I’ll update my review once I’ve had coffee here, but for casual drinks, friendly staff and a beautiful little spot to meet friends, this place fits the bill. The space is filled with light and art, with plenty of seating and a huge selection of beer and wine(for a coffee shop!). Definitely feels more like a coffee shop than a bar. Right across the traffic circle from the bell tower, I see myself walking over here quite a bit! Great addition to this end of Hillsborough.

Legit cappuccino. So many coffee shops in Raleigh – even the small, independent ones – crank out cappuccinos that taste like café au laits. Espresso should never be that light. Liquid State hit the mark. The taste was on par with Sola without the crowd(but sadly also without the little donuts). I wasn’t impressed with either pastry I sampled, but I’m a picky pastry eater so maybe that’s on me. Quiet, clean, bright(with natural light). I haven’t yet moved over to wine, beer, or small plates but that’s coming next. This will become my new«coffee office.» We’re happy you’re here, Liquid State!

Amazing section of teas, beers and wines. They are masters of soy milk – best foam ever for lattes and caps. The art work is wonderful. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They also have gluten free baked goods, as well as standard baked goods. They all look yummy.

Liquid State has a really beautiful interior with great paintings on the walls. I also judge coffee places on their regular black coffee and for some reason their plain coffee was extremely bitter and astringent. I was pretty disappointed, but their iced coffee made up for it! It is a great place to do work and enjoy a beverage.

When coffee shops become your office it’s always great to check out a new place. Liquid State took over the old Locopops location off of Hillsborough st. they have a Locopops cooler still in there so I’m hoping that means you can pick up your favorite pop here at Liquid State. The place is spacious with a large coffee bar. You can sit at the coffee bar or there are tables and more stools to sit up at by the front window. The large windows make a great spot for people watching. I love all the chalkboard menu’s and the décor it very welcoming. They have all the normal coffee drinks and the oh so popular pour overs. I some how missed what roasters they are using but my latte tasted mighty good. Not a coffee drinker? No worries because they aren’t just a coffee shop, you can get a wide variety of loose teas, and they sell wine & beer! Yay I always jump for joy when I find a place that sells all my favorite things. A quick glance at the chalk board and I noticed they are also serving a cheese plate, cheese & meat plate, and olives. The case in the front is full of pastries, and muffins to snack on with your coffee. They are open till 10pm which is a bit later then some of the other coffee shops in the area. Great addition to Hillsborough st. happy to see all these amazing businesses opening their doors. Looking forward to my next visit with some wine & cheese:)

I’m not a big beer or coffee person, so you might wonder what I’m doing here. Well, I’m always looking for places to get a quick bite near State campus, and I’m happy to count Liquid State among the best of them. When I got here I asked if they had cocoa, and was expected to be turned down since it wasn’t on the chalkboard menu, but on the contrary I was told that they did have it and they were still building the drink menu.(They’re also really open to suggestions!) I got a small cocoa and a pecan roll, and both exceeded my expectations. The cocoa was lovely and creamy and rich and didn’t burn my mouth like so many cocoa do! And the pecan roll was really nice and moist with thick ribbons of cinnamon, and is gluten-free but isn’t dry at all and is friendly for all diets. They also have a punch card program! I’m definitely looking forward to coming back and trying some of their ciders — hard AND soft. Ask for Erin if you get a chance, she’s a great barista!

Stopped by for some café work time and so far it’s great. Opted for a loose leaf tea instead of coffee, but the space is nicely designed and the drinks are reasonably priced. Hillsborough has been much in need of hip coffee spot(upping the game from Global Village) that can rival those of the downtown areas and so far Liquid State seems to be hitting the mark. Service seems a little bit hit or miss as their girl in line in front of me neglected to receive her drink in a timely fashion, but as they just opened, I’m sure the kinks will be worked out. Will update this again once I taste their coffee.
