Divey and charming! Decent music, good service and plenty of TVs!

I almost hate giving Napper Tandy’s two stars because some of the griminess, stickiness, and dinginess are what make it … well … charming. But then I remember I’m not in college any more and that there are plenty of Irish pubs without that beat up dive bar feel. Napper Tandy’s is one of those places you will inevitably stumble into for trivia, karaōke, music or comedy on some random night. And you’ll have fun because you really want to. The ingredients are all there to make Napper Tandy’s a go-to neighborhood spot where you and your friends magically seem to find yourselves every night of the week — the programming, the concept, the straightforward bar food and drinks — but the execution is somewhat of a miss.

I am always so surprised that this place is not busier. Napper Tandy’s is one of the best bars to watch Sunday football games! There are tv screens everywhere in various sizes, including a small tv in each of the booth. This place even has a giant projector screen! All food items on Sundays are half off. I have tried many of the appertizers and they were good for the price. If you are hungry, I would recommend the sampler. You get to try most of the appertizer items and it comes with tons of food. There are many other food items to choose from as well, inculding burgers, potatoes, sandwiches, and Irish specialties. The bar has good drink specials as well! There are at least one $ 2 draft beer every time I have visited. The service was great and the waitress always made sure that our beer glasses were not empty.

We have been to napper Tandy’s twice now. Both times the bathrooms were filthy and wet and without tissue or paper towels. There was beer all over the bar. It was just plain disgusting. Service is terrible. No one bothered to attend to the bathrooms when complaints were made. Will never go back.

We’ve been here for an hour and a half and have had 2 servings of all you can eat wings…6 wings in each basket. We’re now just waiting(for 25 mins in which we ended up going to the bar to flag a waitress down) to pay leave to go have dinner somewhere else. We didn’t want to be «black table» that complains about service… but the service REALLYSUCKS. The wings were dry and over cooked. Really bummed about this place, came from California to spend the evening with friends… totally ruined.

Bar tenders don’t care. Made a big deal of a simple order of mixed drinks. Best of luck

When we arrived the place was completely empty at 7pm. I ordered a veggie burger, my boyfriend ordered a guiness burger. Somehow my veggie burger came out plain, no veggies and no condiments. So I had to ask for that. A large group that took up several tables came in, from there on we were completely ignored. They knew the large group was coming, there were flyers on tables about it. The wait staff were busy with this group, sure, but they literally walked past us and looked at us nervously several times without even asking if we needed anything, much less refilling our drinks. After choking down what I could of the world’s nastiest veggie burger, we were ready to go. We waited several minutes, but no check. My boyfriend had to get up and get the bartender to ring us out. If it were possible to give this zero stars, I would.

Omg never again. So we decided to check this place out for trivia night on Tuesday evening and it was a DISASTER. The highlights: –On the website(picture attached) trivia is clearly stated(on the FRONT page) to start at 8PM. I have 15 people arrive at this time, confirm with the bartender that they are having trivia and she says: «yeah at 9». Um, your website says 8PM… So here I am looking crazy. Most people ended up leaving before trivia started. –Their floor AND menus are sticky as molasses. I was worried what I was touching/standing on. –One of the servers ran in to another patron at the bar(glasses broke right by and us and silverware went everywhere). This happened at 8:30PM. At 11PM, shards of glass and a knife were still on the floor. –Our server lost one of the guys’ at our tables debit card and then blamed him. Yeah… good luck to all brave souls that enter.

Went there shortly after 8 pm on a Saturday with a group of friends to say good-bye to a couple moving from Raleigh to Charlotte. I let a friend go in front of me to order her drink out of courtesy. After she orders her drink, I stand behind her with my credit card in hand ready to place my order. After being ignored for 10 – 15 minutes while in plain view, I finally had to flag down a bartender to order a drink. I order a Dewar’s NEAT with a SEPARATE glass of water. What I end up getting is a Dewar’s on the rocks after having to yell my order to the bartender. What an experience, ugh! The only reason I went there is that it was the bar of choice for my departing friend. I will certainly NEVER step foot into this establishment once she relocates. Irritating as h*ll, not to mention all the drunks stumbling around at 9:00, ugh!

I should have lowered my expectations when I touched the sticky, wet drink menus but I held out hope. We would have left after sitting there for 15 minutes with no service but we were determined to get through Wednesday trivia night at least. There was only one server working the entire floor so we tried to cut her some slack but we were frustrated since they had the most limited beer selection of a pub I’ve ever seen. Almost everything we tried to order that wasn’t a common grocery store beer was unfortunately not available. I had a little bit of hope left that the food might redeem the meal. I ordered the chicken caprese and we got group appetizers of potato skins and calamari. The chicken caprese was very mediocre with some melted cheese and a slice of tomato on a slab of grilled chicken. The calamari was obviously frozen and potato skins completely flavorless. The trivia was uninspired and our group unanimously decided that we would not be returning. We actually had two out-of-town guests with us and had to assure them that Raleigh cuisine was much better than Napper Tandy’s.

Basement sports bar with a mild Irish inspiration. Napper’s was actually a solid choice for karaōke, trivia, and food in their old location(now occupied by Clouds Brewing). Since they’ve moved, they seem to have inherited some of the Downtown Sports Bar’s mediocre food, but they also gained a lot of TVs. So, this is actually one of the few bars you can catch the game at in downtown Raleigh. It will be interesting to see what happens with the rooftop Caroline Ale House opening up down the street soon. On a Sunday, Napper’s was pretty much empty for a Patriots-Packers matchup. There was a faint sewage smell when I came down the steps, but it wasn’t that noticeable from further inside the restaurant. Beer choices were ok — I couldn’t find anything on the menu that I really wanted to try. The $ 20 for 30 wings special was pretty solid. My table of four managed to kill that plate off, though it wasn’t pretty. On a prior visit, I had a burger which reminded me of one I had when this location was the Downtown Sports Bar. The burger tasted like it was pan-fried and was cooked well done. I’ve never had an issue with service. Our server disappeared mid-game, but the bartender was always within reach and checked up on us occasionally. This is an ok place to catch the game or a have a drink, but I wouldn’t count on it for much more.

I love winter at Napper Tandy’s! It’s a warm, cozy spot with excellent service. During the week, it’s a professional crowd with good music and a calm atmosphere. Bob, the manager, hosted our company Christmas party last year and all 50 people are still talking about what a great time they had!

So glad I found this place. Great drink specials, amazing food. Definitely coming back. Saturday night there always a great band and trivia and karaōke throughout the week to help keep away the work day blues.

Went this past Saturday for the live music. Great show by Suicide Blonde! They always have quality bands here. Had the fish & chips for dinner, excellent. Good specials and fast and friendly service. Definitely a good Saturday spot to eat, drink and dance!

Unfortunately, their move to Glenwood was not a good one. I go here only on Friday nights for the karaōke nights. Their look and feel at the old bar was worth a five star experience. Now, they look nothing more like a dark and regular sports bar! Nothing special here, unless you like karaōke and only on Wednesdays and Fridays.

I am part outraged and embarassed for Napper Tandy’s. I have heard of this place forever, supposedly one of the MUST Go places if ever in Raleigh’s Glenwood Ave Restaurant Row. So yesterday while at an event in the area, my wife and I went to ‘da Nappers. I expected an unforgettable experience, and I got one I did not expect. We made our way downstairs to the Pub. Nothing exceptional except the place was wall to wall tv’s(not a bad thing) with loads of different sports events on. But then it was time to order. My wife got an Irish Whiskey on the rocks, and it came out timely… in nothing but a plastic 8 oz cup… and cost $ 7.50! Drinks aside, I decided to order the Fish –n– Chips, my wife went with the Shepards Pie and I was curious and got the Bangers and Mash to take home My fish was more burnt breading than fish, and forget about cocktail sauce… you only get tartar as they dont even have cocktail sauce. The fries… what a joke! Stale, undercooked… definitely fresh out of the freezer. All this for like $ 12?! My wife’s Sheppards pie was more mashed potatoes than meat and the mashed potatoes tasted watery and no salt, peper, butter, nothing! I am certain the mashed potatoes were fresh because it had a chunk of undercooked potato in it. GROSS. This ran I think $ 13. You gotta be kiddin me! Then there was the bangers & mash. Mashed potatoes must have come from the same batch… watery and not a stitch of seasoning to it. The bangers, what an effing joke. Little more than cocktail weenies. Obviously this is a pub and they do not concentrate a lot on food. They seem to want to focus more on frozen food fastly made than actually good food reasonably priced. Napper Tandy’s repuketation will be forever in my mind. I should have tried The Hibernian across the way, their reputation is more solid.

Need to revise the operation. Good atmosphere, bar just opened. Didn’t get the chance to try the food on the menu. I was turned off that an irish pub did not have Irish coffee available at all, doesn’t seem like the owner wants to take any initiative to make the old DTSB any better than before…
