I will miss the Tir na Nog so much! It has been such a big part of milestones in my life. We had our wedding rehearsal there and many family gatherings and birthday celebrations. Tir na Nog is such a big part of this community and will be sorely missed. They have been selling everything inside the pub and I’m so happy to be the proud new owner of one of their amazing Irish pub tables!

Good riddance. The place has been on a slide for years. The brunch got gutted earlier this year. They consistently lost reservations when we made them. Tonight, two obese men were told we couldn’t be seated for a party of five. The hostess told us the kitchen was too backed up and we’d never get served, so she wasn’t seating us. When we sent a thin white woman in to get a table for our group, as the fatties hid outside, we were seated within five minutes. While demand didn’t influence the closure, tonight’s «service» just signified the rock bottom of the slide. So as we sit here, eating with plastic silverware, good riddance, Tir Na Nog.

One final hurrah before Tir Na Nog closes their doors which will be in a few days, sad face. $ 3 Highland bottles, I will take a Highland Gaelic please. For the meals I went with the 5oz Porter Cheddar Burger with mashed potatoes and Boyfriend went with the Cottage Pie. Both were filling and delicious. To one of my favorite Irish pubs around the area, we will miss you!

We had a great time here! We first attempted to go to an establishment down the street, but the service was awful so we left. We stumbled upon this place. We were just trying to find a place to camp out and have drinks and snacks before a concert at the Lincoln Theater. We found so much more. Upon arriving, we were seated promptly in a cost booth. We ordered drinks from our very friendly, attentive server Joe. Best French 75 I have ever tasted. I had two, and they were fabulous. My boyfriend was equally pleased with his Jameson Mules. For dinner, I had fish and chips and he had macaroni and cheese. Both were incredible options. This place is well run and very lively. There was live music and clogging and a bagpiper. It was definitely a treat! Unfortunately, this place is closing down at the end of November. Most of the staff and the manager are going to the Hibernian, which is a beautiful pub on Glenwood. You should all go there and see Joe. He’s a fantastic server and made our experience that much more enjoyable.

So sad the NOG is closing! One of my first dates with hubby was done here. Irish food, draft beer, and more importantly the downtown run club here will all be in memory.

10÷9÷15 We had our wedding at Tir Na Nog today. Annie was amazing. She took all of the worry out of planning the occasion. We had the cottage and 25 or so friends and family. The food was great, the flowers were beautiful and everyone was so well taken care of.

Food was good, not as good as previously. Had cottage pie and beef Wellington. Service seemed promising at first, but no one checked on us after our food came until about 5 minutes after we were done, so no refill on my water. Thankfully, we didn’t need anything. Headed somewhere else for dessert because we’re not spending more money here tonight. Great band playing.

Most underrated food downtown. Daily lunch specials are fresh and hard to beat for the price ! I don’t drink too many different types of beer but they have a huge selection and specials on local breweries beer on Thursdays. Watch out for seafood and steak specials as I’ve had some really awesome steak here.

Absolutely amazing. We were seated immediately, and our waitress took drink and appetizer orders promptly. Before our appetizer was brought, the waitress asked if we would like to put in our food order. We did. Our waitress helped me decide on a meal, I went with the Rueben Our appetizer and daughter’s meal came out together, and as soon as we finished the appetizer, our food was on the table. The Rueben was absolutely delicious, possibly the best I have ever had. Our Guinness’ had perfect heads and were served chilled and with a creamy froth. I would definitely eat here again.

This was my first time here for Sunday brunch, I’m so glad I went!!! I love brunch, it is probably my favorite meal ever beside dessert. The brunch here was great. Honestly, I was a little concerned about it being buffet but after my first round I did not care. You go up grab a plate there are eggs with cheese, eggs without cheese, really good bacon, potato dishes, cabbage dishes, a waffle/pancake/french toast station, there is an omelette, there is fruit(it was a little shabby when I was there). The biscuits with the jam where delicious. I go the strawberry and the banana jam. I love strawberry jam but the banana was right there with it. I was really surprised, if you like bananas try it at least and see what you think. If I every have friends or family in town I will definitely be bring them here for brunch. Such a great way to start the day! Happy brunching!

Tir Na Nog is a staple of the downtown Moore Square area. We’ve been to this establishment many times and have always had a great experience. Once, we rented the back room for a staff Christmas party… it was the perfect size and we had a great night. On another late-night visit, we enjoyed the live band and dancing. Most recently, we stopped in after a fun afternoon at Marbles kids museum. The hostesses were incredibly accommodating offering us highchairs and pulling tables together for our group. They went out of their way to find a kids menu and crayons for the little ones. I always remember the food being pretty good, but on this visit, the food was superb! My husband and I had the pub and«no name» salads: both were fresh and delicious with kale and unique ingredients. They really hit the spot! Others in our party enjoyed the fish and chips, bangers and mash, and scotch eggs. All reports were thumbs up with lots of yummy sounds bubbling up from the table. There is a great variety of local craft beers as well as traditional Irish beers on draft. Full bar with excellent variety. The service we received was grand: attentive, friendly, and patient(particularly with our large, somewhat indecisive group.) The only slightly negative bit of our visit was the strange mixture of music. Most of the songs were lighthearted, Irish folk, fun songs. But there was interjected some songs that were a bit of Irish-punk rock that made our hair stand on end. Other than that — awesome visit! They have lots of events on their calendar and if I was a runner, I would definitely join their Nog Run Club that meets weekly and hold large running events that benefit charity. Great job, Tir Na Nog — we love stopping in to see ya!

Love their Sunday brunch! Always delicious and a great variety to choose from. We also choose this as a Thanksgiving dinner spot and the buffet was fantastic! Traditional turkey, stuffing, magnificent gravy, and lots of sides. Also ham, roast beef, salad and desserts. Would definitely consider it again. The staff is always very friendly and we love the Irish pub atmosphere, particularly the stone walls and signs. It’s so relaxing it’s easy to just kick back and chill for hours!

I wanted to like this place more… Live music, great looking menu, Guinness and Magners… How can you go wrong? Well, start with two crappy bartenders. Grand total of maybe 6 or 7 folks at the bar and neither of these guys says hello, introduces himself, nothing! Sat for several minutes before one asked, «do you want a drink»? To me that’s a rather stupid question. Hmmm, I sat at the bar, you’ve seen me sitting here with not even a glass of water or a menu for several minutes… You really think I might want a drink? Guinness… Mediocre. Yes, Guinness pours differently from different taps, and this one was a bit off. Beet Salad… Tasty. Best part of the meal. Good greens, sharp blue cheese, toasted pecans, cranberries and decent vinegrette. Meat and cheese platter… I REALLY wanted to like this because it looked amazing. Pickled eggs were great. Stone ground mustard was good and sharp. Dill pickles were crisp and flavorful. Bread was mealy and coarse. Pickled onions and onion marmalade were likely out of a jar. Not a great one.

This pub is a landmark for downtown Raleigh. Not only does it serve up some delicious Irish dishes the entertainment is an added benefit to this establishment. Every day of the week there is something on their events page. Tir Na Nog is also a destination for the Sunday Brunch enthusiast. They have a hot buffet offering waffles, omelettes, fruit, proteins, various casseroles, lunch dishes and desserts. They offer local and national taps, bottles and cans. Also, a major plus is that they have an extended menu with beef wellington, shepherds pie(pasty), fish and chips and bugers that can be cooked to order. The last time I was there I ordered the Beef + Guiness Pasty with mushed peas. It was a puff pastry stuffed with Guiness Braised Beef, vegetables and stout gravy. It was a savory treat and paired well with the nitro stout they had on tap. This is a perfect homage to any ones Irish roots. Sitting outside with some Irish music in the background was a perfect way to spend a mild summer evening. The restaurant is well established. There is a huge bar with plenty of seating. You can sit at the bar or the host will seat you inside or outside. There is plenty of space for whatever size party you have. It is a dog friendly establishment. They are more than willing to bring your dog one of their many dog dishes for their drinking pleasure. I will say the bathroom is always well stocked. You may be hesitant to sit outside, due to the foot traffic. The staff and management know the ordinances and are willing to uphold them on behalf of their patrons. Annie runs the place and is not shy. She saw that there was some issues going on outside and she immediately came outside and gave her full attention to the situation. She is a great role model for business owners and citizens alike. Not only do they take care of their area, but they look out for those that work in the area. A bus driver that was in the midst of a really long shift was able to go inside and utilize their facilities to freshen up. This place is a true asset to the community.

After several visits, my review is still accurate… wonderful brunch for $ 12/person :) They always have seats because the dining room is so large– and they have several tables out front too. Lately, their brunch has gotten better– they seem to be switching up the dishes a bit to give routine brunchers a good variety of treats. Sara enjoys the breakfast much more than I do– she always goes for the eggs benedict, grits, bacon/sausage, and they usually have a quiche/frittata of some sort. They have good biscuits & gravy too! I like the lunch food– the black bean enchiladas + tacos are deeeelish. They have a fruit/salad bar too, and several desserts to choose from. Tir na Nog is a yummy place to go for quick Sunday brunch… and for what you get, it’s easy on the pocket too.
