I love Rebus works! Beautiful local art and framer and host to the weekly Saturday Market! What a fantastic little market filled with local eggs, meats, and produce, and products. Every week you can come here to pick up local and mostly organically grown produce. Also, the Lomo Market is here every week! This spot also hosts food trucks and art/jewelry markets from time to time. A local gem, check it out!

My husband and I were looking for a unique space to hold our wedding reception in June. Rebus Works was THE perfect venue. Shonna and Susan helped us all along the way with great suggestions on everything from catering(Kocina…amazing Columbian street food), where to rent tables and chairs, to how best we could set up the tables and chairs for our party of 60 with enough room for dancing! The space is beautiful, from the hardwood floors to the artwork on the walls. Rebus Works has a kegerator, so we were able to have several kinds of local beer on hand for our guests. Throughout the night, several people came up to me and said that they would be looking at Rebus Works to host their next event! We could not have imagined a more perfect party or a more perfect place to have it. Thank you SO much, Susan and Shonna for everything you did to make our night a success!

The best in town for framing. We’ve had at least 7 – 8 items framed and most of the time my husband takes them in and tells them if we want any special wood or color and the owner does the rest. She’s really picked some great items that I wouldn’t have thought of using and it has always enhanced the art. I also know that the art work is completely protected and will be vibrant for years to come. In addition to the gallery(which has a great revolving selection) and the framing, Rebus also hosts a variety of other events. The Saturday Market is year round though the bulk of the vendors show up in the summer and fall months. In addition, they often host food truck rodeos, Gauge Wrestling acts, and provide Boylan Heights w/some fun local events. Recommend following them on Facebook to get notice of the events.

Art gallery and frame shop. Pricey art, but it’s local and cute. So if you like a drawing of an octopus on a thick mug, you can probably find that here. Mostly I’d like to mention as Andrew W. said, The lovely Saturday Market. «Raleigh’s weekly, local, food and craft market featuring garden and oven-fresh goodies, handmade uniquities and more. Every Saturday from 9 – 2 pm May-Nov» It’s really worth getting up early for cheap, local, delicious pastries, coffee, and a rad craft selection to browse. Plus it’s an excuse to be in that historically beautiful hood. *BREAKINGNEWS!* I read that the Sat Market is year round now! Woweezowee!

Rebus Works is the retail star of Boylan Heights. It’s tucked away to the side of Boylan bridge, and is the host of The Saturday Market @ Rebus and many other events including food truck rodeos, gouge wrestling, and«Shopscotch»(an annual Hopscotch day party). I would compare the goods inside Rebus to Designbox. Everything is local, but Rebus can have some pricier artwork. There’s something for everyone inside – including Locopops! Rebus is worth checking out every month or two.

It’s not the easiest place to find, but It’s worth it for framing, and usually has some good art shows on the Raleigh Art Walk. I happen to like that it’s out of the way a little. When I have an art piece that I particularly care about and want to have framed in a particular way, I take it here. They use high quality museum class glass, have great frames and do a good matting job. If it’s valuable and needs protection — I don’t even consider going anywhere else locally. They have a very nice selection of frames, and as a family run business — they take a great deal of care in making sure you are happy and that the work is done well. If you are looking for a cheap frame for a print or something this is really not going to be the place you want. I’d recommend the Printshop in Umall or one of the chains for that.

Wiled away some time here on First Friday earlier this month. I’d probably never have known to visit it except that Crumb and Only Burger were both making an appearance at this spot, so I followed their tweets and found myself at this little shop. I’m not a real art-y person to begin with and we’d just gone through the multi-level Artspace, so looking at the smaller exhibits here was more of a quick run-through; though it was exciting to see some more of Casey Porn’s work. I had my first introduction with her art at Wootini and then the pleasure of seeing her studio and meeting her in person at Artspace. Now I feel like I see her stuff everywhere! I have to say I enjoyed browsing their tees as much as their canvases — I guess that makes me pretty low-brow in the art department huh?
