Ribs by Art

Great food with large portions. Owner is one of the nicest people you will meet. Great place if you are looking for takeout on the weekends.

This was a lot of food at a great price and it was very delicious. Their BBQ sauce is a South Carolina mustard based one, it was a nice change of pace. This place is take out only, so call ahead if you don’t want to wait.

from the outside this place looks very enticing. I ordered the ½ rib slab with slaw and potato salad for $ 17.95. What I got was tough pork spare-​ribs. they were not even seasoned well but just salt and pepper and slatered in mustard sauce. the potato salad and slaw came out of those white plastic gallon buckets. Yuck. The portion was good but ½ of the ribs were chunks from different slabs. Most too dry to eat. it is amazing to me that places can stay in business. Nice people but just poorly cooked food. I mean, its just ribs? the only way to screw them us is by under cooking them which seems to be Art’s specialty. Just horrible.

Second time I’ve been here in the last year and it was pretty good. At least the pull pork sandwich. The meat is always tender and full flavor. Best of all, the price is not too bad for the amount of food you get, but I don’t eat the way I use to. Still, I’m probably going to have to grab some ribs before I leave. Also, this place fits the term «hole in the wall» exactly. It’s in a nondescript strip mall on a boring road with not much around it.

I think I found another entry for my «Destroy your Diet» list and its name is Ribs by Art! I can normally tell how much trouble I’m in when I’ve got take-​out by two sure-​fire indicators…
1.) If your arm can feel the stress and strain of the carry-​out bag, weighted under the load of your meal, that’s a good thing! Lots o’ food is normally a plus unless you’re becoming a little piggy like me…
2.) Volume of noise by my cat Bear upon entry into the condo. The furry little guy immediately pounced up and started sniffing the bag from Ribs by Art. Howling and whining ensued so I summarily dispatched him to the bathroom with a closed door.
So on to the important part, the food! Ribs by Art is primarily a catering business but they’ve got a small storefront for take-​out only. I ordered up a ribs and chicken platter with yams, mac n cheese, sorta my Southern food litmus test. Yeah, it was a lot of food but also pretty damn good! The mac n cheese was really, well done with tender but not over-​cooked mac, probably better than I’ve had at the Pit or Backyard BBQ Pit. The yams were dense and sweet, not quite as good as Southern Flavor but still excellent. And the ribs n chicken? Hoo boy, now that’s a meal! Grilled with some char, they’re slathered in a tangy, slightly mustardy sauce for messy deliciousness. While not fall off the bone, they were well smoked and tasted great…
Now I don’t venture to this area of Raleigh too much, but do yourself a favor if you like grilled meat. Take a drive on down to Ribs by Art Thursday through Sunday and I think you’ll be pleasantly pleased! Just hit the gym for a couple of weeks so you can carry that bag home and burn off all those calories. You’ve been warned…

Fantastic ribs!!! I’m just finding out about this place and have gone there twice within the past 3 days… it was that good! I highly recommend that you check then out. Both the pork and beef ribs are equally great!

For our first daughter’s birthday, we order from Ribs by Art to accommodate the adults, and they kept coming back for more! This is by far the best BBQ restaurant in town! The sauce is spectacular!

Well, the sauce is to die for! I love the beef ribs they were tender and juicy. The staff is very respectful and polite!

Great meat and excellent sauce. I had the chicken and rib combination platter and it was delicious.
It is in a perfect location for picking something up on the way to a concert.
