Holy Smokes… I love breakfast! The Lady and I have a weekly ritual of going out for breakfast on Sunday mornings. We usually pick among several upper end breakfast spots. Along comes Spring Café; a family owned hole in the wall on Spring Forest Road. I like Spring Café. I’ve never had a bad meal. I can’t get fried biscuits like Big Ed’s North or omelettes like Briggs, but you can get a solid breakfast for nearly half the price of its classier competitors. I’m not a fan of that awful orange/yellow paint and the tables don’t lend themselves to intimate conversation but the waitstaff is friendly and accommodating, the food is a little bland but that’s why God made salt and pepper and it’s easy on the wallet. All in All? Yeah, sign me up !

We went to the Spring Café for the first time today with a friend. First impression was not good. The place was small, crowded, not well decorated, and did not appear to be too clean. It looked just like the inside of the barber shop next door. We were told to sit anywhere. Our waiter took our order and we waited. It took a while for our food to arrive and when it did, I was disappointed. I ordered a Western omelette and it was flat as a pancake with meat and vegetables stuffed inside. Four triangles of cheese were melted on top. It was runny on the inside, as if it was not all the way cooked. I have never seen anything like it. I could make better at home! My friend had gravy and biscuits; he said it was okay. Nothing special. He said the bacon had a funny taste. Our server was not very professional. We asked for refills on our drinks and instead of bringing them, he spent his time tickling another server in the server station. We finally got refills when we asked a second time. There were flies on the wall — filthy. The only thing I liked were the breakfast potatoes. They reminded me of something my Dad used to make when I was young. If anyone in our household gets sick later, I’ll update this review. Food — bad. Service — bad. Surroundings– bad. We won’t ever be returning. Oh — and no one asked us how our food was when we paid — shocker!

This place is like a mom and pop version of waffle house. I like waffle house and i would come here before a fast food joint. Serviceable eggs, bacon, etc. Coffee is as good as waffle house.

It comes across as a simple and clean brunch place with a cordial and warm staff. The service was a tad bit slow given the hour of the day and crowd in there but the food was really nice. We ordered the HungryMan omelet minus the bacon and Tenderloin Sandwich. Both of them were well made, cooked just right and tasty. The cheese slice arrangement in the omelet tickled us, it was neat Coffee was freshly brewed. We chose the biscuits and home fries, both of which was not too fried and I would not miss out on them… we will surely go back to the place if we are close by looking for a breakfast.

We had a coupon for this place, so we decided to try it. It looked a little divey/dinerish, we’d eaten at similar type places before, up north, so we didn’t mind. We walked in were politely told to seat ourselves, there was luckily ONE booth open, the place was pretty packed. We were given an old high chair with a broken buckle for our 9 month old, again not a huge deal. once we sat down, we noticed the drink refill station was right out in the open, meh, so it’s not the fanciest place, we still were fine with it. There’s not a huge selection on the menu, so I opted for breakfast(an omelette, hash browns and toast) and my husband got a Ruben sandwich with fries. Our food came out and the omelette was good, the eggs were a bit thin, the ham overpowered the omelette but it wasn’t bad, though I didn’t care for the sliced cheese triangles melted on top. The home fries seemed to be a baked potato smashed up into pieces and then friend a little again? They were ok, a bit bland, I had to add a lot of salt, and ketchup. My husband’s fries seemed very similar to the frozen crinkle cut ones we buy from Kroger. His sandwich was ok. The waitress was friendly, and didn’t take too much time between refills, but we noticed after she took my husband’s cup for a refill, that the fountain machine they have there in plain sight, must have been broken. The wait staff was literally pouring cans of coke, diet coke, and sprite into cups full of ice. My husband and I love fountain soda, it’s one of the things we look forward to when we go out to eat, so this was a bit disappointing, if we wanted cans of soda, we would have bought a 12 pack of them at the grocery store. As I was waiting for my husband to pay, I noticed they had huge bottles of Great Value(Walmart brand) apple juice under the counter. This was all in plain sight at the drink refill station. All in all, the food was mediocre, the place was shabby, and it all seemed like food that could just as easily be made at home(walmart brands and all). We likely will never go there again. On the other hand, the place, like I said was PACKED when we first got there, so they must be doing something right, it just wasn’t for us.

I’m in love! This place reminds me of diners when I was a kid. I can’t believe I’ve lived here for 9 yrs and haven’t discovered it until today. We had the patty melt and the club and both were outstanding. I am talking perfection here. The way they should be made. Cannot wait to come back especially to try the breakfasts… I hear the home fries are to die for.

You can be sure of a few things here: you will feel out of place(stares from the locals included!), they definitely are not customer-focused(no soy milk or sugar-free syrup), and most of your meal will not be satisfying. The questionable aspects: What led me here? Why is their iced coffee perfectly consumable without any cream or sugar(when I normally need both)? Why won’t my waiter look me in the eyes? We’ve been attempting to find true diners in the area and gave this place a shot because their website actually makes it look appealing. I had scrambled eggs, link sausage, and French toast; my husband had biscuits and gravy(advertised as containing sausage). The eggs arrived crispy and tasteless, and the sausage was oily and spicy. Gross. My husband’s biscuits and gravy had tiny lumps of what he believed to be sausage, but we couldn’t be sure. They were undesirable, at best. The French toast could have been made by my 15-year old half-sister, or anyone really. You can’t mess up French toast. All in all, for $ 23 dollars, skip this place and grab breakfast on the go. Pocket the extra money. Or cook for yourself. Even the convenience wasn’t worth it.

Definitely a small café with locals. Staff was friendly and knew their menu. The food came out and it was pretty good. We had a club sandwich and tuna plate. The décor could use a sprucing up, but overall was ok.

Soooo, i have fallen inlove with The Spring Café. The food is awesome, the customer service is great. I had just moved to North Raleigh, and didnt really know much about this side of town, so i used Unilocal. I searched nearby resturants and there it was at the top of the list. I read the reviews and noticed that it was only 2 minutes from my house. I drove up spring forest rd., and there it was. located in a shopping center(there is always plenty of parking) i found a spot right up front and walked in. Upon arrival i was greeted by the hostess who asked if i was dining in. I told her that i was placing a togo order. The hostess passed me a menu and i browsed and decided on 2 entrees. Corn beef hash with grits, scrambled eggs, and biscut. Along with a sausage and egg burrito. I placed my order and was told that it would be ready in 15 minutes, so i grabbed a seat. The place is a decent size, cozy, and tidy. My order was ready! I odered the sausage and egg burrito, which was huge. It was delicious plain and simple. My other order which was a cornbeef hash: I personaly didn’t get to try it, but i was told it was great.

I have eaten here all my life, and i am still coming back multiple times a week… they must be doing something right. The servers are a plus, the service is some of the best i have dealt with over the years. rarely have i had a problem with my experience, the food is snappy as if it were the turtle. That is the only slow thing about this establishment. I highly recommend it.

Hmm… not sure how this place got great reviews. It’s a hole in the wall in a strip mall off Capital Blvd. The décor is definitely no frills – but that can be charming if the food is good. It is privately owned by a family, and that makes you want to go. But the food is average and it’s a bit dirty. We were given a maple syrup bottle that had all butter all over it. I ordered a BLT with two specks of really dried bacon on it. Almost inedible. The biscuits are good here – that’s why I’m giving two stars.

This is a local breakfast and sandwiches eatery. Saturday morning at 8:30 the place was almost full. Seemed to be a lot of regulars. The staff was neatly dressed, polite, and efficient. My three egg omelet with ham was a plateful and pretty good flavor. Seems they used the processed cheese product on top(like I do on sandwiches at home). Think I would have appreciated real cheese melted inside the omelette. My guest had the sausage biscuits and gravy plate. Was more than she could eat. Think she was a little disappointed that it was more gravy than sausage. Servers kept the beverages full. Nothing fancy, just a good basic breakfast.

It’s ok… Coffee was warm, not hot. Food was a little bland needing more flavor. Atmosphere is what you’d expect from a greasy spoon. IMO for the money there are better places for breakfast

35 minute wait. Service was great. Fans were dirty. Old décor, 1980’s tables. My girlfriend’s ham was super salty. They were out of biscuits. On another note the cream chipped beef and sweet tea were fantastic!

I have absolutely no idea how this place is rated so highly. My fiancé loves breakfast food and was craving something while we were out running weekend errands. Consults Unilocal: «Spring Café has some pretty good reviews; let’s check them out». Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy some diner food as well as the experience a diner can provide. But my goodness this place was just… blah. My cheese«omelette» was a mediocre batch of eggs with slightly melted cheese on top — seriously, I could still make out each triangle. I’m a potato freak and the home fries left much to be desired. Fiancé said biscuits and gravy weren’t half bad, and the only redeeming quality to this meal for me was my plain biscuit on the side. Side thought here, but the entire experience reminded me of the movie Elf — while Spring Café doesn’t necessarily claim«World’s Best Cup of Coffee», I felt just like Jovie — «it tastes like a cup of crappy coffee.»

a disappointment for me. Quick service but the food was just fair. I was initially hoping for a good casual breakfast spot with southern basics like good grits and eggs and such. Unfortunately the grits were watery and flavorless and came in a tiny bowl. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich Had a lot of bacon but little egg and on dry toast. Nothing special. I would not go Back.

Loved the breakfast experience here! I am from PA and miss my smattering of diners around the area, but Spring Café brought back those warm memories. Great service, delicious food. The booths are threadbare, and the walls and ceiling could use a cleaning, so if fine dining is more your forte, I’d recommend you nosh elsewhere. Their grilled biscuits were AMAZING and I loved their spiced apples. The waitress said they are homemade. The western omelet was huge; I wound up taking half of it home as it came with the grilled biscuit and spiced apples mentioned above. I will definitely be back!

Fabulous! I’m from NJ and we take our diners… and breakfast… very seriously. I’m happy to report the food was diner-licious. Home fries cooked to perfection, great coffee with refills almost immediately and southern biscuits I’d travel into N. Raleigh to order again. The staff was very welcoming and service was quick. My boys(5&3) were treated very nicely and their kids menu was great and very reasonably price. Really, the whole menu was reasonably priced! I will add it to my growing list of quaint Jersey-style diner hot spots I’ve stumbled across in my new state of NC.

Grilled Biscuits! As Delicious as I could have imagined! They were Very Good! RELAXED Comfortable Café! ! ! LOTS of Regulars! Wait staff knew almost all the customers by name and knew their orders! Home Fries(request Onion added if you like Onion) Thin Slices of Potato cooked just right! This is NOT the Greasy Hash Browns some places serve, GREAT Flavor! This one was my Favorite item we ordered! I would get these again, maybe two orders! Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Lots of Meat in this Sauce! Lots of meat is a Plus and I would like to see more Tomato«Sauce» in this Sauce… Flavor was too mild for me though I believe listening to the Customers, not ONE Customer is Smart! Fried Chicken was pretty good too! Greens! Perfectly Cooked! Perfectly Seasoned if you like little salt and no flavor beyond the flavor Greens! I enjoyed these as they were and I also like a different version not offered here, one with Pork Bone or Meat, though that would not make this dish an option or Vegans, nor Vegetarians, so I have to say, Please leave them as is! Service is Fantastik! Faster than we expected too! I asked to substitute: Garlic Bread for a Biscuit and Salad for Greens… EASY ! ! ! They want you to get what you want and when substitutions are fair and reasonable… This is what ALL Restaurants need to be doing!!!
