Taz’s totally saved my friend’s birthday. In the middle of dinner at Capital Club 16 I started to get a little non-food related allergic reaction(my eye swells up like Quasimoto and it itches like the dickens). No one at the table had medicine and It was too late for CVS to be open… so we were totally bummed at the prospect of having to cut the night short. Luckily my friend knew Taz’s would be open, so off we went! This well-lit shop is a few doors down from Mecca and stocked with a few essentials kind of like a cross between a store at the airport and a gas station. While I think the other Taz’s on Wilmington specializes more in beer, this one is stocked with tons of wine. The clerk was outside on his phone when we approached, but immediately hung up and followed us in. He was very personable and friendly. I found exactly what I needed(though I should have gone with Claritin ’cause the Benadryl made me drowsy) and we continued with the festivities! It’s really a great sign of growth that Raleigh’s downtown can sustain places like this. Thank goodness for Taz’s!
