Service was really great! The bartender/barista was very friendly, had really good recommendations, and was very fast despite the line out the window for to-go orders. I initially ordered an iced almond milk latte, very good. However my sister ordered the iced espresso ginger beer drink and it was amazing!!! You get the ice coffee fix, mixed with a sparkling ginger taste. It was a delicious and refreshing buzz! I ordered one to go in addition to my original drink and will definitely be coming back! The décor and set up was roomy and clean. Loved the day or night atmosphere!

The best bar in downtown Raleigh! Great selection of inventive & delicious cocktails & coffee drinks with desserts to compliment. Located in the PNC Building, beautifully designed & great offerings using locally sourced quality ingredients. Best of all, there’s an amazing all-star cast: owner & local legend Kim Hammer, bartenders & baristas Tony & Louis and awesome support staff. You WILL want to have drinks at this happening bar.

The place has really interesting décor and comfortable seating. We enjoyed our cocktails immensely, in fact, even more than we did the desserts. They key lime pie parfait was good, although I didn’t notice it was a parfait until we got it. I missed the crunch of a crispy crust. The brownie with marshmallow ice cream was fantastic. A great place to hit up with a girlfriend.

Wow. This place is really cool. Stopped by after having dinner next door and really enjoyed our desserts. They were delicious and you could absolutely tell they were homemade. So wish I weren’t pregnant so I could try their yummy drinks too. Next time absolutely.

I am a fan of Bittersweet… I stop by for a cup of coffee before my morning commute and the day is off to a great start… Clay is a gem… I’m so happy I found this place… no more Raleigh Times for me…

A bit pricey for the dessert, and I was not too impressed with the cupcakes or pie that they served here. I got a peanut butter swirl cupcake and a slice of pecan pie, I’m not sure if that’s enough to judge the food from but it was not anything which knocked my socks off.

This place is where dreams are made of, or well my dreams at least. On the suggestion of Lauryn C I headed on in to Bittersweet after dinner and was not disappointed. Their cocktail list was impressive and I ended up going with the Thin Mint, vodka, mint, and chocolate milk. However you should probably finish your whole drink before you start on dessert since the sugar in the desserts will cause your delicious drink to just taste like vodka. We asked our waiter what he suggested and he said the cheesecake was his favorite and the caramel chip-which was the biggest seller. Sold, we went with one of each! The cheesecake with the warm bananas was delicious. I wish it had some type of sauce over the top, but the husband loved it as is. The cookie sandwhich was awesome, the caramel popcorn, ice cream, and chocolate chip cookie combo was spot on. I look forward to heading into to Bittersweet much more often!

We used this venue to throw a baby shower for my best friend. We rented it out before they opened in a Saturday. Kim was really nice but more so the bartenders were amazing. Not only did they make great drinks they also helped us hang banner and let us borrow different bowls, and other items we needed. We brought sandwiches from my bff’s favorite spot and order the cheese tray from the venue. The venue is nice and has a friendly atmosphere. The bartender made use special purple drinks to fit our theme(a bourbon drink and a lemonade). The desserts are AMAZING!!! My favorite was the smore brownie but the ice cream sandwich was spectacular as well. Not only would I recommended this place for drinks and desserts but also to host a small intimate bridal or baby shower.

I wanted a sweet treat after doing the half marathon and wanted some pecan pie since I was in Raleigh and all. This place had great reviews so it fit the bill. Very modern inside. Small but friendly and helpful staff. So many good dessert and cocktail/beer choices. Nice place to treat yo’self, especially after 13.1 brutal miles.

Everything I have ever gotten — be it dessert or drinks — at Bittersweet has been absolutely amazing. Whether it’s a far-from-basic gin and tonic, spiked hot chocolate, a simple cupcake, or a full-on dessert, I am never disappointed. This is a rare phenomenon — take a moment to consider. The staff is knowledgeable, hilarious, and on point all the time. Their location is ideal whether you’re coming from dinner somewhere else downtown or en route to a night of dancing. Some nights, it may be hard to find a spot, but know that it’s worth it. It’s worth noting that their social media presence is also top notch. If your friends routinely post IG photos of their lackluster home creations, do yourself a favor and add Bittersweet so you can salivate from afar when you don’t have time to come in for the real thing.

My husband and I checked this place out tonight after dinner and instantly fell in love. The setting was cozy and fresh and the aroma of delicious coffee made it a no brainier to order some, even though we hadn’t originally planned to. We both had cappuccino and then shared the sea salt chocolate chip ice cream sandwich. It was the perfect blend of salty and sweet and I was in heaven eating it! I can’t wait to go back and bring everyone we know here!

I came here in search of dessert after having dinner just around the corner. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by a friendly face and a glass of water. He was very patient with my indecisiveness. Everything looked so good, I couldn’t help it! They have an extensive wine and cocktail list. Something for everyone! I finally decided on the s’mores sundae and it was the . The owner lovingly prepared it right in front of me. It was a brownie with graham cracker crumbs, vanilla ice cream, chocolate, and marshmallow cream. The bartender explained that the owner makes everything in House from the marshmallow cream to the whipped cream all of it is homemade. I chose a black tea concoction to enjoy with my s’mores sundae. Odd pairing but both delicious. I also tried their shot special of the night. It was equally amazing. I love dessert bars! Bittersweet is definitely my go to for delicious desserts and after dinner drinks when I get a chance to visit downtown Raleigh.

This place was awesome! I can’t wait to bring my mom and dad here when they visit. In this place you can have your cocktails and desert together and OMG it was good. I had the salted caramel chocolate cupcake. It was decadent I thought I had died and gone to heaven. The chocolate cake part was nice and moist. My cocktail was the boozed up root beer float. The icecream was made there and the cocktail was mixed very very well. The bathroom was immaculately clean. Also this place cares about our earth. No paper towels but there are reusable cloths to dry your hands on. Also, the doors open out ward which makes it easier to get in and out of the stalls, and the locks were neat. The stools at the bar were comfortable and the staff was kind. The atmosphere is classy yet relaxed. This is not a rowdy bar. This is also not a place to bring kids. It is in fact a bar.

Bittersweet is a great place to get dessert after dinner when on a date. The interior is a very contemporary and extremely lovely. When the weather is nice, they open up their huge windows to allow the breeze to flow through making the place very romantic. The salty chipwich ice cream sandwich is the only thing I get because it is absolutely AMAZING. The chocolate chip cookies are slightly salty balancing out the sweetness of the ice cream and chocolate chips, while the bourbon caramel popcorn adds a crunchy dimension to the dessert making it a little more complex and sophisticated. The staff are extremely friendly and I have never had a problem with the service.

This is a great spot to go for after dinner drinks and a sweet treat! The cocktails are great and so are the treats! I typically get some bubbly and the salty chipwich ice cream sandwich-chocolate sea salt cookies, rolled in bourbon caramel corn. I mean how yummy does that sound? Perfect for date night or just catching up with friends!

I went here with the specific goal of satisfying my dessert craving. I expected a menu full of dessert choices and was disappointed to find a list of just about 6 – 7 with not much variety. It seemed like a choice between puddings or cookies. I ordered the chocolate mousse. It was good but not the best I’ve had and oh so tiny. It was also at least ¾ white chocolate and only ¼ dark chocolate. Very mis-proportioned in my opinion, the dark chocolate was way better. Located off of Fayetteville street I should not have been surprised that the desserts were overpriced. Others in our group ordered drinks, perhaps the best purchase for your money. They did have a nice selection of drinks at a reasonable price for the area. I will not be back for dessert but may come back for drinks. It seems like a great place for groups. I also heard the coffee was great so will be back for that. The staff was okay, they did their job but were not outstanding. I did not like how they split up our check. There were seven of us and instead of giving us each a check they numbered us 1 – 7 on the same original check and wrote the total underneath for each. They told one of us what number we were and had to pass it along to the next person an so on. It also made it really difficult for the couples to combine their bills. It was confusing.

If a place can be cute, quaint, romantic and trendy all at the same time, Bitter Sweet is it. It’s the best of both worlds: alcohol and dessert with coffee and a little bit of whimsy thrown in with fun, quirky staff and a mural of Bruce Willis/John McClain tauting pie boxes and PIEHARD scribbled across the bottom. It’s pure poetry. I was here for a holiday gathering with my company and we had plates of the derby pie(which everyone raved about all night), mini carrot cupcakes with a soft cream cheese frosting, lavender shortbread cookies(not sweet enough, if you ask me) and the chipwich ice cream sandwiches rolled in bourbon caramel popcorn – my favorite! The coffee drinks, the cocktails, the everything… Perfect. Our bartender, Josh, made a mean French 75, and was perfectly pleasant and accommodating. It didn’t hurt that his T-shirt said«Cake Dealer». Hahahahahaa…
